Title: Piron 1919
Post by: Andika on August 29, 2014, 01:30:34 pm
What's the story of Piron 1919? Is there a story to it at all? Is the date a reference to something? I can't find anything about this.  :-\

Like a lot of things in this game (e.g. engines), Piron is a reference to a Muse dev, specifically Christopher Piron, one of the artists (in-game name is Lordfunpants). Not sure where 1919 comes from (the game is set somewhere after WWI, so I guess they just picked 1919 as the year), but there's a bit of backstory here:

I never noticed it was a cow until I looked closely at the reference screenshot I took so I could redraw it. I'm curious as to the background behind the "brand" design. =P

pretty much the muse art team does 20 minute art exercises ranging from quick paintings in photoshop to zbrushing. usually we pick a random theme, in a random way. . . one month or so we ended up simply having 3 people shouting out words at random and then we'd do what ever we came from it. . . more or less the 3 words where cow, lawyer, and i believe destruction or evil? and to be honest, the cow was probably my worst worst drawing cause i started off drawing a phoenix wright cow, looked over at lenz screen and realized he was doing the same thing. . so changed it up half way. the full picture was alot more. . . umm. . violent lets say >>. . .  either way while lenz was making those bottles he needed a logo, and branded it after me. . . . and for what ever mysterious reason? he picked the cow. why? god knows . . .

doing dozens of 20 minute art exercises with random themes is a really really good way to practice. i consider those exercises as the source of how much better i am at doing art then when i started working at muse, and would love to see what comes out of people doing guns of icarus themed 20 minute fan arts ;p  (maybe something more specific though then just "guns of icarus". . .)
