Title: Sunday Community Skirmish #14 (Signups for Sunday 10th August)

There is a unique tradition practised by a mysterious sect of monks, its origins lost in the mists of time. Every Sunday, they would rise from their deep contemplation of the universe to duke it out in homemade airships across a variety of exotic locales. Largely forgotten for centuries, now that the airship is mainstream, the sect have gone public, encouraging any young men and women who will listen to participate in violent weekend air battles. At least it gets them off the streets.

This signup thread is for the Skirmish at 7pm UTC on Sunday 10th August (note that Britain is not currently on UTC) and will be (probably) streamed by Fourth Oracle and Imagine at http://www.twitch.tv/fourthoracle (http://www.twitch.tv/fourthoracle) and http://www.twitch.tv/imagine42 (http://www.twitch.tv/imagine42).
The event follows the same 2v2 deathmatch, single elimination, best of 3 format that you should be used to. Teams should consist of 8 players - please only sign up if you are confident of your ability to turn up with a full team.

Signups should be posted in this thread and include a Steam/Skype contact and team name. Signups close at midnight (UTC) on Saturday the 9th of August. Please try to avoid last minute signups.
The bracket and map rolls will be available soon after signups close. (brackets at http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/ (http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/))
Participants will be contacted before and during the event to keep them updated on the brackets and when their team will be competing.

A team can, on request, opt to have their matches delayed an hour, until 8PM UTC.

Time Limit Rules
Every match has a base time limit of 15 minutes. However each Bo3 has a "reserve" time of 20 minutes; if a match runs past 15 minutes it will draw on the reserve time for that Bo3. If a match passes 15 minutes and all reserve time has been expended, it will end immediately. Hopefully this will prevent the long matches that mess up our scheduling without the inflexibility of a flat reduction to the old time limit. We're open to tweaking the numbers or reverting to the old system if this doesn't work out.
If a match is left tied by this system the Bo3 will continue regardless. In the case of a tied Bo3, the result will be decided by scores, or failing that a coin toss.

Substitution/Disconnect Rules:

The usual reminder: Please only sign up if you are confident of your ability to produce a full team of 8 players.
(note you don't actually have to provide a roster to prove this. We'll take your word for it.)

As noted before, it may prove necessary to run matches offstream if the number of participants exceeds what available streamers can handle.

Leto has kindly agreed to run an additional stream. so hopefully we will have 3 streams and be able to cope with the number of participants.

bracket: http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/sundayskirmish14 (http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/sundayskirmish14)
map rolls: http://pastebin.com/5epBTuEC (http://pastebin.com/5epBTuEC)

We will have to push along matches pretty fast so please don't be late arriving to lobbies. also I'd like to politely remind all teams that it's inappropriate for non-organisers to be in the spectator slot in competitive matches - therefore it might be for the best not to make the match passwords available to players who aren't participating. Encourage your supportive clan members to sit back with the other viewers and enjoy the streams. :)

edit: Imagine reminded me he can't stream today. so let this be a warning that some matches may need to be offstream or streamed in Russian.
today/tomorrow is also going to stand as a little test to see if we can cope with 10 participating teams. if this goes too poorly we'll have to consider turning away participants after the first 8.

I dunno, but is splitting the matches over to another day an option? For example, have 4-5/9 matches this sunday and have the rest of the matches played on sunday of next week, if the teams think they can get their crews together for next week as well.

Assuming that:
Caster #1 will cast matches A, C, G and I
Caster #2 will cast matches B, E and H
Caster #3 will cast matches D and F
we should be able to make it more or less in the same timespan as it usually goes for SCS, where we sometimes end up in 4 separate BO3 series streamed by one caster and still managing to end all the matches in more or less 3 hours, same as here we'll end up with 4 BO3 series for one caster as maximum, so it won't be much of a problem.
So as long as we will have 3 casters (and little to no Dunes matches :p) there will probably be no need for splitting up the matches in the first place.

Due to some internal issues The Grim Reapers are withdrawing there bid for this weeks SCS.

We'll be back in 2 weeks to defeat the Rydrs ^.^

I think (hope) we actually have 4 streams available (Fourth Oracle, Swallow, Rob&Dan and Xemka). however one is in Russian and 2 of them can only make it in time for the second round. I'm reasonably confident that the event will be finished in manageable time. for those others than me who are confused by the number of streams, Letonator (Dan) has helpfully assembled today's various streams on the Rob & Dan Show website; http://robanddan.tv/live/ (http://robanddan.tv/live/).

@Dementio: the one-shot nature of the event is an integral part of its structure imo. If we find the number of participants unmanageable my first choice would be to limit the event to 8 teams on a first come first serve basis.

@Goldenglade: thanks for letting us know.
