Sorry if this has been asked before but I haven't been able to find info on it and folks in game aren't sure either. I'm on that dreaded Scraps Pilot achievement. I've shot at ships, killed ships, and gone into the point and defended it from ships but no points are counting to that annoying 8 defend point part. At the point now where I'm running out of achievements and this one is preventing me from hitting more.

It's been asked, but not answered as far as I am aware. I finished the general (non map specific) defend recently, and I now think it has something to do with the "blocked" message, e.g. "Hubert PIckle blocked the Refinery" - which looks like your colour timer has to start to run down when challenged by an opponent, and you push off the challenger(s) and fully reclaim the point.
X captures
Y challenges <- this has to happen to get a block
X blocks <- this is what I think counts as defend
As ever, either Clara or Awkm will have to provide definitive guidance.

Well if thats it then ouch. Sure hope that one gets changed. Guess that would mean I'd want harpoons on both mounts to pull ships off the point.

Killing them whilst they are contesting should count, as should driving them back by firepower - but I suspect that camping the CP won't be effective in itself if you're denying the contest.

This could use some Muse clarification but I believe you actually get this simply by capturing a point held by an enemy.

Whatever it is it's a royal bitch to do with a Galleon. That thing simply hates staying still in that cramped space.

Which would surely be a successful contention, not a defend? - or just another example where Muse hasn't chosen the best turn of phrase.. ..

This. Unless it has changed, I got my Junker "defends" on Flayed by capping enemy points. So glad I got that done before it changed to crazy king.

Well no wonder that Desert Scrap achievement is such a bitch. That point doesn't change hands very often.

I just played 2 scrap games with galleon.
I killed 5 enemies while both me and the enemy were on the point, and while my team fully owned the point.
Twice I re-entered the point while an enemy was stealing it and killed the enemy.
I received 0 defend points! :(
before this game I had 6/8. and I have no clue how I got those.

I am 100% sure that "Defend" = "reseting red/blue (controled by the enemy) point to white".
You don't need to capture it.

I concur, I realized this yesterday when my teammate finished his achievement halfway through the cap.
