Title: Default ship loadouts - time for a change?

Prompted by much hilarity and discussion in the game lobby, but is it about time that the default ship loadouts were reviewed?

Junker - a different weapon on every mount, with no particular logic
Squid - Javelin on the front, Mercury on the side and a Whirlwind on the rear

No wonder new players get frustrated, lose and rage quit - at the time they know the least about the game, they grab a ship, head out and fail.  You'd think the developers were trying to scare people away! - putting a Mercury on the side mount of a Squid is pure sadism..

Can we have some sensible default loadouts on all ships, please?

If I recall the Goldfish comes with a Heavy flack on the front. While the Heavy flack is a fine weapon (even after the addition of arming timer) it requires a moderate degree of skill from both the pilot and gunner to be effective. I would suggest a more noob friendly weapon such as the Manticore.

That said, I can see the logic for giving new players suboptimal ship configurations. It forces them to learn how to configure a ship early on in their carrier. Assuming their carrier doesn't end in rage quit after their first few hours of sucking and dying. It also allows new players in practice mode to experience a multitude of weapons without reconfiguring their ships. Most ships flown by vets are min/maxed for certain damage types. If that ship configuration was default many noobs would not be forced to learn the full complexity of the game.

Done.

Squid was Field Gun (front), Flame, Mortar (back)... which isn't that big of a problem.  It's now Flame (front), Gatling, Mortar (back).  Personally, my favorite loadout.  I eff people up with this.  The CHALULA CHIPOTLE Squid.

Junker's default makes no sense now because balance has changed since the last time it was touched (ages ago) so that's my bad.  It is now:

Front: Artemis Light Rocket Launcher
Top Deck Left: Gatling
Top Deck Right: Gatling
Bottom Deck Left: Echidna Light Flak Cannon
Bottom Deck Right: Scylla Double-Barreled Mortar

Spire
Front: Medium Flak, Howitzer
Left: Flame
Right: mortar

Pyramidion
Front left: Gatling
Front Right: Flamer
Left Front: Mortar
Left Back: Carronade

That it?  Anyone else want to contest these?

That's much better Awkm..

Even if  a new player jumps in to a default ship they now have a better set-up.

I always laughed at the Spire default. Wasnt it like Hwacha and Harpoon? Too funny.

All ships default all flares, cannot unlock new weapons until the tutorial has been opened for more then 5 minutes.
