If you'd like to see a board added for a particular language that isn't represented here, please speak up and be counted!
In order to avoid collecting a pile of dead boards in a dozen different languages with a handful of posts, new boards will only be added if there's a demonstrable interest or a sizable community of users who would regularly use the board. The purpose of these boards is to provide an official meeting-point and make Guns of Icarus Online more accessible to non-English speaking player communities around the world; therefore, requests for "novelty" languages like Pig Latin will not be considered. (If you want to converse in these languages, feel free to start a thread in the Lounge!)
In order to add a new board, we'll also need moderators who are fluent in both English and the target language, and willing to volunteer their time to monitor the boards regularly and keep everything running smoothly. If you think you have the time and patience to be a good moderator for your community, step up and let us know here.

Hello;
Eventhough I don't really know how many we really are at this moment in Guns of Icarus Online - most online games have quite a large representation of native dutch speakers mainly from the Netherlands and Belgium.
I don't really know what I need to do to really gauge our numbers but I'm pretty confident we're growing already and it would be useful for some if not those adding in the future to have a community section in our own language.
Not entirely for the language though because we're generally quite adept at speaking english;- we're just kind of notorious for setting up native dutch mini-communities, guilds, clans or groups in many games and a Dutch subsection greatly motivates doing so or really just enables people to find one another.
I'm also in process of promoting Guns of Icaruns Online with groups and communities from my past and a large portion of those are native Dutch as well.
I have the time frame and drive to moderate it;- that's no problem - I can also translate all the official documents or introductions back and forth.
-
Do we have a person who can moderate a Spanish/español section? I found a few people in the steam forum who were Spanish-speaking. I can't, my Spanish is terrible.

I'm pretty sure that Captain Smollett speaks Spanish.
-
If there ever is a need for a Norwegian/Scandinavian community board, I'm more than happy to help!

Aye, I'd speak some Spanish, and I'm in the Spanish Steam Community group, moderated by Drenthe. I haven't seen many Spanish speakers around though, and my Spanish wouldn't be good enough to keep that community going :/
-
KillstreakS (or something along those lines) is Spanish.
-
I don't really like how Esperanto is compared to Pig Latin in the OP. I'm not suggesting that there should be an Esperanto board, but it's a legitimate language with a real purpose, unlike Pig Latin; it's got quite a good deal of speakers throughout the world and even a small amount of native speakers.
-
Fair enough. I'll remove the reference.
-
Are there any statistics showing how many players from each country play the game? That could work as a reference on what language boards to create. I'm wondering how many polish players play GoI, so maybe a separate board could be created :).
-
There was no reply so I repeat the question from the post above.
Are there any statistics showing how many players from each country play the game? That could work as a reference on what language boards to create.
I'm wondering how many Poles play GoI, so maybe a separate board could be created :). The polish GoI Steam Group is slowly getting bigger.
(one post can be deleted)
-
We could probably make some guesses based on IP, but we don't have specific country data. Glad to hear the Polish Steam group is gaining momentum, though!
If there are enough requests for a particular board, we'll certainly consider it. Encourage your fellow Poles to come here and post! :)

How about a Portuguese language board?
I noticed we have quite a few Brazilian players and the number seems to be increasing. I'd be glad to help, if that's the case. It would also cover for potential Portuguese players, if any.
-
That sounds like a good idea. Anyone to second the request?
-

I Second it.
There is a small community of Brazilians players, and some Portuguese ones. They are not too active on the forums, but it can change with a Portuguese board.
Also, I'm a native Portuguese speaker, if you guys need help with something about the boards, let me know.

Same here. I'm from Brazil and have yet to see Portuguese players, but I've met a handful of Brazilians around. I don't know how many of them are active in the forums, but a board in Portuguese would possibly gather them.
-
Awesome.
Setting up the board is easy, we'll just need a translator for the description text and to write a welcome post. The board will also need at least one, preferably two moderators who will be be able to visit frequently and up with the board, greet new posters and help ensure the board stays active, and be responsible for moderating content.
If that job sounds like something you'd be interested in, I recommend applying for a Community Ambassador position, and in your application specifically state that you're interested in helping create and run a Portugese-language board on the forums. The next recruiting round finishes up next week, so this is the perfect time to get in.
The CA application is here: http://gunsoficarus.com/community-ambassadors/
Feel free to ask here or get in contact with Keyvias, the official CA Wrangler, if you have any questions!
-
I gave it a thought and I think I'll apply. The only problem, though, is that next semester I'll be very busy with work, university and a personal project, but I think I can meet the required amount of time.
-
I think that you have to make a Spanish section, for spanish users, i can moderate it, or post it, well, my english is so bad, so, i will be so glad if you make a spanish section.
Greeting from Chile or Spain.
Ubu.
-
I'm actually surprised that there haven't been requests for a Spanish section before now.
Anyone to second/volunteer to moderate?

I will like be a Moderator of the Spanish section, if you are asking that.
-
Hi People!
Deagol here from Barcelona, Spain.
I'm also surprised that there isn't an Spanish forum.
I volunteer if a moderator is needed. Besides not having too much free time I could give a read to the forum daily...
-
Great! Well, my suggestion to you both is the same as in the post about the Portuguese board above -- if you'd like to become a moderator of a new Spanish section, then I invite you to apply for CA, and say that you're applying with the goal of becoming a Spanish-language forum moderator.
Here's the link again: http://gunsoficarus.com/community-ambassadors/

Done!I hope to be accepted besides still being a newbie... ;)
-
already are several of Latin America and would be very well that there is a forum for those who speak Spanish. We have a group of over 15 people who play guns and would be great to find more people who speak our language. sorry for the bad drafting, I'm from Argentina.

Brazilian here too. I'd like to see the Pt forum
-
Oh I completely missed this thread. Yeah I'm somewhat decent in Spanish, or atleast I used to be when I was still actively studying it. I could potentially help out with moderation there ... I think
-
Hey, I'm from Costa Rica (spanish-speaking country). If you need any help from the Spanish side, I'd be willing to lend a hand.
-
fresh off the boat thread for newbies ;d
-
Did we ever get the new boards going? What's the status on that?
-
What I understood so far is that for a Board to open there must be a moderator, who needs to be a CA and new CAs are accepted after the CA Games Event...
I applied, so the Pt-Br Board maybe will open next month. Nothing official yet, though...

Hey Clara,
What else do we need in order to get the Pt-Br board going?
-
I think you should contact Keyvias via Steam or forum PM. He's in charge of stuff on the forum now.

Will do. Thanks for the info, N-Sunderland :)

Ahoy!
I'd love to have a Spanish board, and the worldwide spanish-speaking gamer community is huge, so I think it can be great for the game.
I'm new here, but i've been running and dwelling forums for about ten years, so I could help to moderate the board.
What should I do in order to get our board?
-

Oh hey, I'm from Costa Rica too! [*Highfive*]
And I've seen many people volunteering to mod for a Spanish board, but if it was needed I'd love to help! I'm currently admin in a small forum (which is in English but has people from different countries) so one board should be easy enough... Right? Heh.
But yeah, looking forward to see the Spanish board happen, and maybe I can visit the other ones to learn those languages too? [That'd be so great, I'll try not to be too annoying I promise. *Cheesy big smile*]
-
Yeah, I'd love someone to pay attention to us... A spanish board would be superb.
-
The devs are working on it. It should be up within a few days, I hope. Don't worry, you aren't being ignored.
-
Great! Sorry if I looked a bit peevish, I didn't intend to. Thank you!
-
Helloooo! I am the first posting here but the Italian community is born and is growing, we're not a lot but we count at least 10 players only on my usual group. We made a forum on our own for the Italian Community but a board here would be good. I offer myself to make translations but I don't have the time and the patience to moderate it everyday.
I don't know if I can link external forums, in case delate this part: Our actual Italian forum is www.gunsoficarusitalia.forumfree.it
We hope to get all italian players together. ;)
-
I'm more then willing to work with you on this i'll make sure this gets to keyvias ASAP :D
-
Can we get the spanish subforum's description to match the other ones? Right now it's like a paragraph, the others are a sentence.
-
Yeah i was going to talk to keyvias about all this on monday. I've been gone conventioning and will not return until late tomorrow or monday
-
Talked to Keyvias today i'll have it all irond out.
Additional note. Italian subforum was approved. I'll work with you check for a PM
-
WE have the Italian Subforum Live :D Thanks everyone for the help ^.^

After I found out about this game, I recruited 10 of my friends, raising up the Romanian GOIO Community.
I would love to get permission on building a Community Board with my friends, as some of us cannot break the language barrier.
-
Of what i hear there is a medium size community of Finnish people. If we are to start Finnish side to this i would glad to help with it.

Are you still around?
RistoH are you willing to work on that forum creating content for it and what not?

I'll talk to keyvias about it....
I was tryingt o see if Kyro was still here so we can work on his board should he still be interested.
-
well that was fast RistoH message me on steam I'll work with you to get it set up.

I have no idea how many Polish players are there, but it'd be great to meet fellow poles!
-

It has been proposed already. Not enough to get us our own community board.
-
Pity. I personally know (only?) 3-4 regularly playing Poles.
Me, Schwalbe, Guras, Fynx (?). What's the deal with polish steam group someone talked before about?
Edit: and one polish guy I haven't met yet but heard was accepted into our clan recently.
-
Valky and Princess Tutu (?) are polish aswell.
What I don't really understand is why people want to specifically play with people of their nationality.
-
Well, it is generally an english game, some people may prefer to use their native languages and play with people from a similar nationality / community.
When these forums were first built (The modern one we're on) There was a large population of Germans, Russians and Japanese hence these individual forum boards for them. :)
Nowadays, these international forums are rarely used :(
-
Princess Tutu is not polish, he's russian as fuck.
-
Princess Tutu

I'm not sure whether I should give you confirmed info or keep you in suspense. It's hilarious when you're trying to guess ^^
What I don't really understand is why people want to specifically play with people of their nationality.
Because language barriers?
-

Because language barriers?
Because in the heat of the battle it's much easier to communicate in your language than in second language. I mean, look at CS:GO, most top tier players are at least decent with english, but still they stay within national teams, except for one team which combines russian and ukrainians and one team that combines people from Europe (though those two are not really top tier). Also some people are just not good enough with english for comfortable play.
-
Different cultures and parts of the internet have their own memes, too
Like I'd bet I don't even know half of the in-jokes and cultural references any Russian or Japanese player makes

Fynx is Polish, also tomdrifmach and Silent Marauder (or whatever Marauder Zwyrol is called now).
I meet different Polish people in GOIO on more or less regular basis, and this triggers me enough to want them shot down ASAP.
I used to be a leader of Polish clan, KNTG, but none of them play as of now.
-

HAHA I know that feel.
-
Maybe a Turkish board?
I've seen many Turkish players on GoI and I know that most of them can't speak English properly.
I'm the only exception that I know, to be honest.
Anyway, I live in Turkey so I think I could help with a Turkish board if there ever is one.
-
I'm the only exception that I know, to be honest.
Cough cough
MightyKeb if I am not mistaken.
-

Never talked to that person so I don't know.
and like I said
I know that most of them can't speak English properly.

Keyphrases: "Most of them", "Only exception that I know".
-
Sorry if I sounded harsh or rude, that was supposed to be pointing Keb out as a well-known member of community that is, as far as I know, Turkish, and speaks english well - thus making him another exception. If, of course, you are interested in that information.
-
When I saw their name I actually thought they were some person trying to troll/make fun of/with the name.
And I had friends refer to Greeks as "kebabs", so, yeah...
-
And low level noobs call me russian, when I have worse day in my life and my pronounciation game is not up to par. Or when I feel like cursing out loud in Polish. Sorry to hear that man, but I have no other advice in that than to suck it up. It will happen. There are Community Ambasadors (CAs) out there to help, yeah, but this would probably benefit you the most - either not getting a fuck or getting good enough in game to erase their fucking faces off.
That being said, I don't usually poke fun at people based on their race or nationality, nor do I troll people on forum. And yeah, there actually is a player called MightyKeb.
Listen, I understand where you are coming from and your attitude. Just please, assume next time that someone who can boast with triple 45 by his account is usually not a massive cunt like that. Cheers, and have fun mate. ^^
-
Umm, I never said you were making fun of anything... I said I thought they were, with their name. I saw them before but never talked to them. ._.
-
Hahahaha. Oh. My bad, I am a little to sensitive when it comes to talking with people - too many times I was left in confusion as to what have I said or done wrong. Cheers.
-
Schwalbe, you literally have the worst social skills :P My good friend MightyKebab (the only one you can't quite remove. Yes, he's Turk and his nickname is Kebab. Pun intended) has nothing to do with this conversation, and although it is true, that he is the only known turkish competitive player, as well as another exception to generally non-english-speaking Turks, this is not a Silk Road Online, so it's not that many of them. The known active Turkish community members are countable on fingers of one hand. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Hmm. Your suggestion for a new community board is very interesting! I think I would like this too.
