I'm Alex, a developer at Muse.  Mostly I do graphics/rendering and network programming, but I've touched just about everything in the game at some point.  You may also see me online occasionally under the name Jormungandr.

Hi, there! Clara Skyborn, aka Jess here. I'm one of the designers here at Muse, as well as writer/worldbuilder and community manager. I spend my days thinking up names for things and drinking cup after cup of tea.

Hey look new forums, and I get to be the first non Muse employee to introduce myself. I go by HamsterIV in game and Wilson in real life. I like Guns of Icarus because it lets me live out that ruthless naval captain fantasy I have without undergoing the years of training and hard work to get to that position IRL. I also fancy my self a game developer, but to date have not created anything noteworthy. What I have created I post to http://www.monkeydev.com/ (http://www.monkeydev.com/) .

See you in the skies.

I am known as RearAdmiralZill. American network administrator by day, and alcohol stealing/dealing wanderer in my free time on GOIO. I have over 600 hours of gameplay time, go I obviously play too much and have no life.

People know me for my exploits as a ship captain, notorious for aggressive tactics more than anything else.

I started playing as an engie. It allowed me learn all the ship layouts and get a feel for that kind of gameplay. It definitely was a hectic job, but I knew I wouldnt be doing that forever. Captain was my end-goal, and thus I began that after gaining a few levels in engineering. At first I stuck mostly to my trusty pyramidion. She did me well so why change, right? Well I soon realized that was short sighted, and began flying each ship. Every ship has a space in my heart now. I tinker with loadouts that others would laugh at, and call worthless. Still, through all the wins and defeats, one thing has been clear; The community that has built itself around my persona is what drives me on. To all the crewmen that have served under me, and the captains that fly beside me, it has to be one of the best experiences to have that kind of teamwork pay off into what can only be described as poetic victory. To see this network of people both work together and challenge one another is what makes me work to be the best captain. And of course drives my lucrative moonshine and rum business!

So I raise my mug to all you misfits and no-good crew who have flocked to my matches and eventually my hideouts, as this captain knows his skills would be for naught without you all too. Fly beside me if you wish, and challenge me if you dare, at the end of it all, RearAdmiralZill still emerges from the clouds with a stash of barrels in the hold to celebrate good times.

Servus!

Seemingly still the only one around the forums who speaks German, (might hopefully change now with the new one!) and not even a good one with that, because Austrian.

I stumbled upon the game some good 2 months ago, when I got interested in Steampunk and wondered if there aren't any proper games out there with Steampunk airships. GoIO fitted in quite well. After I got around reading several tutorials and the wiki, I dared starting as an Engineer and soon followed to Captain for some of my colleagues. When I'm not playing GoIo, I currently work for a Austrian NGO that specializes in workers rights and do workshops about globalization (hunger, to be exact), for the styrian Caritas.

If you happen to see me online, and I'm piloting, feel free to join aboard my ship, I don't mind newcomers. You'll have to deal with my styrian accent, but that will just work out fine!

Yiski reporting in for blowing stuff up.

Started off as an engineer, but gunning things down is where I shine best. I have a high proficiency of all the guns. I crew for any pilot worth their weight is gunpowder and rum. You'll see me frequently as an engineer and only as a pilot when I decide to throw sense and sanity overboard.

Always willing to help those who want to be helped.

I am Tim, the terrible, the tyrant, the Cloud Whaler.
I reside in the wild North East.  Well, the tamer well populated forested south east of the north east.  Buzzards Bay....  Wareham.
I'm a former combat engineer in the Navy, and since I love all things engineering that is what I started out on in Guns.

This gave me a good idea of gun position, repair times and how much damage a ship could take in a full flak broadside before we wen't POP.  I migrated to captain after a series of terrible relationships with drunk captains screaming in some strange form of Xbox language I've never been exposed to.
I love captaining, I also love team work.  I loathe fair fights or honorable combat and would rather gang up on a lonely pilot with a floundering crew and disorganized team with a terrible broadside of wrecking damage and watch their shattered ship plummet to the earth below.
So that's me.

...  Cloud whales exist!

Post by: N-Sunderland on February 22, 2013, 05:01:02 pm
Hi, I'm N-Sunderland, most commonly known as Sunderland, though people have referred to me in the past as Sunder, or even N (don't call me that). I'm a mod in the French section, and it would be great if any French speakers could go post there, in order to make me feel like I'm an all powerful moderator-dictator or something.

Anyways, I started GoIO as an engineer, since gunning seemed a bit boring to me. I really got quite good at it, and gained a very good understanding of the game. After putting the better part of my 160 or so hours played (I'm not as obsessed as some people...) into engineering, I've started looking into other areas. I've gotten quite good at gunning, but my piloting is still atrocious. If you ever end up on a ship with me at the helm, it would be in your best interest to switch teams.

So yeah, that's me.

Well I guess I shall put myself back into this.

Name is Letus, your everyday friendly local dragon who apparently sounds like Jesse Eisenberg...don't hold me to that account, I don't even know who that guy is, just been told that a lot for a year now  ._.

Started playing Guns of Icarus Online during the Fall Sale when a friend got it for me as a gift.  Two hours later I was hooked.  Currently, the "best" class I am would be the Engineer, I started as the engineer...and will probably still dominate the playtime as engineer...and is probably my favourite thing to do.

Piloting would be in second place.

I am not elite in any of the tiers, and frankly, am mediocre at the most, but I know enough to be able to help anyone who is new.  I tend to be quiet (even though those who know me would think otherwise,) and that fact shows more while I am piloting.  If I'm not talking--it normally means I am concentrating from "I need to place this shot" to "I don't want us to blow up" to "I wonder what's for breakfast on Monday?"

Post by: BdrLineAzn on February 22, 2013, 10:51:50 pm
Think it is high time to introduce myself.

In game I'm BdrLineAzn and before i go on, some people wonder what all these bunch letters mean. For the "borderline" part i live in the southern part of sunny San Diego and, literally, I can see the Mexican-American Border of TJ from my window , and the Asian part...... well that is self explanatory. While in real life I'm a young freshman by the name of Louie in college trying to get by.

So i bought this game from the November sale since i saw gameplay from both TotalBiscuit as well the Yogscast and i was hooked. When i first played, like all new players, i didn't know jiggly squat and just run like a headless chicken. But after a few rounds, some teachings from experienced crews, and what i picked up from chat it help me turn into a decent player. My most skilled class is being an engineer as i like the chaotic things going around while i try to fix things, but i have my hand at gunning as well as piloting (but I tend to go a little insane when i fly hehe). But I do enjoy playing with many people in this game and if there is anyone new out there willing to learn, I am open to give out advice and train new guys even if it means losing a match.

So signing off from this wall of text, see ya in the skies.

Hello! I'm the SeaWulfie. (Or "waffle", as some call me...) My main talent is fixing your ship. My worst talents are defending and flying your ship. ^-^
Normally tho, I'm quiet, I do as I'm told by the Captain, and I'll do what I can to nudge newer players in a positive direction.

I'm Jazza. I'm 19 years old and Australian.

I'm a pilot. I like the Goldfish because it's small, easy to navigate and symmetrical. Even the pilot can jump to a turret to do a job if needed. I focus on my main weapon, so someone should always man it, and the two other crew members should be repairing or manning the side guns if needed.

That's me.

Post by: Furrymessiah on February 23, 2013, 07:25:46 pm
Hello everyone, I'm Furrymessiah. Commonly known in-game as Furry, and very rarely by the moniker Lukas to those who have cultivated an intimate friendship with me, I am your handy-dandy crossdressing, sailor-mouthed Engie, often seen skulking around with my SMAC compatriots, or otherwise filling space on Zill's ship as a Gungineer and making him mildly unsettled with my innuendo.

I was first introduced to this game by those lovable Brit goofballs at the Yogscast, only seeing TB's video long after I acquired the game. Don't hold it against me. I got the game as a Christmas present from a friend of mine (who, incidentally, didn't get the game for himself. Thanks, Steam Wishlist!), and quickly found myself enjoying the meta-game aspects of being an engineer moreso than flying or gunning. Not to say I don't do a fair bit of shooting, mind you. Nowadays I've comfortably settled into to my role aboard ships, occasionally piloting as a lark when the urge strikes me. I'm not a bad pilot, per se; I just much prefer banging on things with my mallet.

Outside of GOI, I'm a frequent watcher of a 24/7 video gaming stream (PM me for details), I read Cracked and PC Gamer, and I'm soon going to be attending college for CompSci--Networking. I'm a smoker, a social drinker, and a lover of cult movies. I enjoy music, sleeping, gourmet cooking, and swimming in the ocean.

Oh, and I'm a furry.

Heyo there, I'm Wazulu.

I'll restrain myself from writing a wall of text here, so as you can imagine I waffle with the best of them. I was introduced to Icarus back in November, however I took a big break of a month or so, and the game was a lot different when I came back. I'd like to say I can hold a ship together, but all I can say is never put me behind the wheel. Besides being a terrible pilot I'm oddly semi-casual. Serious crew=serious me. Then again I never take defeat too badly, and don't really mind what you ask me to do in the air (Hull Babysitter many a time).

Anyways, I hope to be active-ish on these forums and to meet most of you (if not all) in the air sometime.

Cheers for reading,

-Waz.

I stumbled upon this game at the perfect time for me. I've just gotten bored with EVERY other game I've played.

Before I heard about this game, I was a big steampunk fan. When I heard about this, I thought it was a FPS or RTS... but it isn't either. This is Mad Max in the air, this is Pirates of the Caribbean on crack... and I'm totally hooked.

The realism of this game is incredible. One of my first successful roles was as an engineer and I got an incredible rush running throughout the ship fixing things. I kept us in the air and the crew did their part... and it was glorious.

That's what I love about being an engineer. Your ship is falling to pieces, all hope seems lost, but you keep on making it hold on at the brink of death. And then your captain says "I'm not sure how we survived that.". It's just way more exhilarating than gunning.

Hello fellow airmen and noble admirals, I am Skyraider

I'm known for exceeding in piloting skills and tactics, being an aggressive captain and pulling off some very close quarters combat. I have a tendency to survive a battle with less than 1/4 of health, but most importantly, I invented the backwards Goldfish (And maybe the hydrogen uppercut).

I started as a gunner, (Very useful I know) and I got used to using all weapons of all types, knowing there benefits and weaknesses. Then I discovered Qwerty's channel and I joined him after his livestream as a captain, we won about 10 matches before we left, that gave me the fuel to start flying. Although I wasn't very good, I practiced every until now, becoming an above-average pilot. I still feel like I'm to only one to set up traps and ambushes in-game, flanking enemies in Squids or lying behind a wall in a Goldfish.

So I say to anyone who wants to be a pilot, patience is the key to success. Don't let your greed take you into a trap, think about the other routes.

For anyone that doesn't know me I'm Sgt. Spoon, or Erik if you like real names. I've hanged around Guns of Icarus for quite a while, enjoying the game, world and growing community that's now rather lively compared to when we were just a few active people.

I would like to think that I'm an able gunner, but I will leave that up to you. I can hold my own as an engie, but not my cup of tea, and if you ask me to pilot, get ready for a lot of crashes lol.

Well some people have seen me floating about... perhaps an introduction is in order.

I'm Phoebe; which not so coincidentially is also my real first name;- little did I know I would be stuck with it as a player name.  :P

I'm 32 years old; divorced and mother of a young daughter growing to be as stubborn as myself.  I've always shared an interest of playing games with my ex husband and Guns of Icarus Online is one of the first games I actually purchased for myself after a friend of mine who goes by the nickname "Paddypower" recommended it to me.

I have a two shift job in human resources and I have a degree in public relations;- I wanted to be a relationship therapist when I was young but that didn't quite work out so I had several jobs in marketing, human resources, public relations and finance.

My friends usually call me "Tushy"  which has been my nickname since High School.

I haven't really settled on names for my ships to keep but I definitely like flying the Galleon most because well... you know; women and driving - The Galleon goes in slow motion so I can somewhat handle that.

I really like the Lumberjack as a gunner because that's pretty much the only gun I can say I'm good at and I find it tremendously fun and satisfying to get a good lock going on from large distances.

Most of all I just really like Guns of Icarus Online because I can hop on for a couple of quick matches; find and meet new people in between them because the lobbytime is always atmospheric and friendly - and just generally have a good time without too much of a competitive spirit.

Hey, I'm Cul.

I've been playing this game for about a week now, and have been loving every moment of it. Just like all good newbies, I immediately started the game as a pilot of a Squid. Luckily, a few veterans happened into my ship and gave me some advice while I flew it around. This led me to stick with piloting. The game's mechanics captivated me, and I spent a lot of time memorizing things... and then I found the wiki.

I ended up rewriting all of it due to poor grammar and insufficient data, so if there's anything wrong, yell at me for that.

I enjoy playing as a pilot and an engineer. My crew would probably say that I'm much better as an engineer due to the fact that I fly like a drunk hummingbird.

Hello everyone. I'm Brick Hardcastle and I've been playing Guns of Icarus since November of last year. Back then I bought the four pack for a few of my friends and they played with me occasionally. They didn't love the game quite as much as me and I'd struggle to get them to crew with me as much as I wanted. Because of this, there was a period I did not play so much. However, eventually I just thought I'd throw myself into playing it alone, and as I've played, I've made lots of great new friends!

I've always enjoyed flight sim games such as the Ace Combat series, and I enjoy a good old fashioned dogfight as a pilot. There's nothing quite as satisfying as trying to outfly a skilled pilot, using every skill you have to get in a better position. Among the great pilots I've played with I'd give a particular shout out to Gilder who has given me some hair-raising battles in the sky and some strong victories as a co-captain. Also, thanks to my wild buddy Rowan who is always fun to fly with and another skilled squiddy captain. Oro is one seriously cool cat and a brilliant crew member. Of course, my chief engineer Zirrrus always keeps my ship fixed and indulges my addiction to moonshine with admirable dedication!

Thank you to all the other awesome people I've played with who've helped me get better at the game, and who I've shared a laugh with over voice chat. You know who you are :P

I hope to get more involved in the great GOI community!

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting and introducing myself on these forums, but I have been playing this game for a while now. I had this game while it was still in beta and there was a sale where the game was $5 cheaper. I bought it because I like anything to do with steampunk and this game seemed VERY unique. When I played it I got hooked ever since and there's not one day where I don't think about playing this game before any other.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to everyone and I really hope that more people decide to give this game a try, because this game really is different and fun. I grew tired of the same game type being released time and time again where they only have different skins, and play the same exact way.

Hello everyone!

Hello,

I'm Shepherd Commander (like, seriously, Shepherd is my last name). I'm from Australia, and only just started playing the game, so haven't quite chosen which class I like the most of the 3 yet (Liking engineer a lot so far though, but I con't pilot a ship to save my life).
seriously loving this game so far, it's really awesome!

A Hearty welcome from we, your humble tinkerers at Fjord Gungineering Co. or Inc. whatever it was.
I do suggest, if you havent already, getting in some practice with piloting. Every pilot started somewhere. Sure first thing you may suck out. But stick with it, and you will know the ins and outs of each ship (and on the plus side, every blown ship is good for business)

Hmm just realised I never got round to posting here... might as well though  :)

Hi! I'm Icarus Law (the name is my steam name, chosen before I played this game), I'm from England and have been playing GoI for about a month now. Still trying to decide if I prefer eng or pilot, will happily play either.

And that's pretty much it. See you in the sky!

Good day!

Been playing this game for a few days and all I have to say is, wow. I am generally an FPS and RPG gamer but this game does things to me. A buddy on TS talked me into buying and then we were able to talk others into getting it too. Before we know it our clans "other games" sub channel has 10 people, all new and eager to learn about the game.

The level of cooperation and teamwork required to be successful in this game is probably what I love the most. I am Very excited for adventure mode and hope it is wildly successful. There are other zeppelin games out there but having an mmo piece attached to this one will surly set it apart from the rest!

Hope to see you in game!

Cheers,

Capt. GG

Hello everyone!  Guess I'd better introduce myself since I'm hoping to become more active on the forums.  Huge ++support on the project, absolutely love the aesthetic and crowd-funded progression it has!  Really pumped for adventure mode :)

I come from a small group of gamers, my friends and even family.  All of us have tried and toyed with this game, but PVP is just not our strong suit.  Nothing personal towards the game, because we still love it :).  We're definitely going to be paying attention and assembling our crew in the upcoming months of Adventure mode, and hope to jump in full swing when it's released!

Usually I'm either seen as JesterXIII or other various handles, but something about GoI inspired us to make more life-like names.  Guess there's a touch of roleplaying enthusiasm that comes with the experience!

(Also, hope you don't ind Shinkurex, but I went ahead and joined that group as well.  I'd definitely be interested to learn more of the in's and outs of flying, right now I'm just going by the progress requirements XD)

I may as well throw my introduction up now. Name is Captain Phil, and I have playing since open beta. Other than that not much else here, rather a mediocre player (ignore the high levels, I mostly fumbled through them all anyway), and I am a lone player with no one in my circle of friends to fly with and no clans to fly for. I will also do my best to help and teach any new player who is willing to listen and support GoIO to the best of my abilitys.

Since everybody else is doing it, here we go.
My real name is Connor McWilliams, I've played since the Beta, but stopped for a while after the full game was released, I actually never came back to it because I thought I would be to low of a level or something I dunno. I've been playing Pilot, always will Pilot, however I like to think of myself as a more than capable engineer. In real life I live in South Florida, and I fish, surf (whenever there are waves), and play guitar (and ukulele). I'm pretty fucking sexy, my goals for this game would be to join the Dandy Lions, and Adventure Mode until I die

Swift here - last game really like this that I played was Air Buccaneers from back in 2004 - I got the original Guns of Icarus, but I was rather disappointed as I mistakenly thought it was a much bigger game. Then along comes GoIO, -much- more what I was looking for, and I guess here I am ;D

Looking forward to the expanded gameplay the devs are working on, already contributed to the Kickstarter, fingers crossed they make those stretch goals ;D

Sissel here. I've been playing for about a week; when I'm not lagging or having hardware problems, I'm an okay gunner and engineer and a terrible pilot. Once my framerate drops below 5 FPS and I start falling through the deck when I try to move all bets are off.

Outside of GoIO I study computer science and translate games about pigeons, among other things.

Thank you! I'm seeing lots of familiar names here; it will be nice to get to know everyone beyond monosyllabic mid-combat conversation.

I don't want to start a potentially derailing discussion, but if you're really interested……… (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatoful_Boyfriend)
That page makes it look rather bland, but really, it isn't. It's certainly about dating pigeons in theory, but once you play through a little ways it turns into something very, very different.

I'm quite new to this game. Been eyeing it for a while, being on the fence whether or not to buy it, so when I saw that it was available on a pay-what-you-want basis, I jumped instantly (and bought copies for 4 of my friends as well).
I haven't at all regretted buying it. Since I first played it Saturday night, I have played almost nothing else, and I've had a tremendous amount of fun. The community has been great in general, so I thought I'd check out the forums.
So hello guys! I look forward to playing with you, I hope I'm not too green ;) (I might even have played with some of you already)

I swear I manage to come in late on the introductions thread every time it comes around. But better late than never.

I'm Metafive, your friendly Community Ambassador and obnoxiously vocal proponent of arthropod awesomeness. I've been here since Beta and I have to say it's wondrous seeing how great the game and community have become since then. I'm a graduate biologist by day... but by night, I'm the captain of the Beast of Burden, a retrofitted cargo junker carrying enough missiles and bullets to chisel a mountain down to an anthill. So think twice before you decide to take a shot at her cargo lest we decide to unload it at high speed all in your direction.

In all seriousness, I'm just a captain or crewman like any other; I have a regular crew but I'm always fond of helping to give newcomers their air legs, so please feel free to join me ingame if you see me. I'll also moonlight as a mechanic now and then, of course. Don't believe the rumors; I'm actually quite nice, and I assure you my left eye does not see into the future.

I shall introduce myself as I haven't since the old forum.

I am Nadrynne. I played the original GoI and always thought it would make a great online game. Then they made one. I have played off and on for ages. I have a few friends I rarely form a crew with but mostly I just drop in on games - usually as a gunner, but sometimes I'll play a pilot (though I'm not great at it).

I pledged for adventure mode as I think the world so far presented is great and demands exploring! I occasionally draw GoI related stuff. I yearn for greater airship aesthetic customization. (in any game I like to dress up my glorified doll - which I admit I can do and I look very good, but my doll in this case is my goldfish!)

Anyway, the GoI community has so far been a very good one with a lot of very nice people. So I hope to meet (shoot) you all in game!

I'm a Swedish guy and I fly under the Gents flag, sipping my tea while smacking broken components or flying my own ships into the line of enemy fire, somehow managing to survive anyways.

I started playing this game in November with a couple of friends and we formed our crew around the lovely quad-flak Galleon, with me as a gunner.
When they stop playing I felt sad and lost, but then I met all the other lovely people who I now play most my games with, and that is YOU (everyone)!

So yea, see you guys in-game, and may the tea gods always be with you.
If you prefer coffee, thou shalt be purged!

Hello!

I am Nostalgium, and recently found this game when I was linked a YouTube video of a crew running around a ship that was constantly on fire while panicking. As I was watching, I thought "Yes." and went on Steam to buy it before the video was even over. It has yet to disappoint me.

I tend to captain the Freckled Crow, a Pyramidion which's engines I abuse terribly, and enjoy casual banter with my crew as we pluck targets out of the sky. Love the community I've seen thus far, and looking forward to flying with you.

Awesome, hope to see you in the skies sometime!

Guess I'll add myself, no reason not to

Hey guys, I'm Grim. I first heard of this game from a Yogscast video months ago but never bothered to buy it, mostly because I didn't really have any means to do so at the time. While browsing the Unity3d website I saw Guns of Icarus under "games made with Unity" and remembered wanting to try it, so after looking at a few videos I ended up making the purchase. Definitely not turning back! After nearly three years of playing League of Legends a new game is very refreshing, I love the community and Muse is a great company that works hard to make us happy.

You may see me spontaneously chatting in the regional chat at random parts of the day or jumping into random games to Engineer for a ship that needs me. If not I'll probably be flying my ship The Flying Pig. If you ever want to join up with me let me know, I'm always happy to have more friends.

See you all in the skies soon hopefully

VictusBcb here, someone who only learned about the game about a day ago, when my brother bought a four-pack (1 for me, 1 for him, 1 for my other brother, and 1 for my roommate).  I've only done some practice with AI so far, but already love this game.  I've got a natural handle on piloting, and look forwarding to meeting all you fine folks in the sky this weekend.

Don't have a name for our ship or our band of drunken sky pirates as of yet, but I'm sure that'll come about soon enough.

Hi y'all!
I'm a new aeronaut hailing from Finland and was lured to this game due to it having gunners as a class. I went to mandatory service in artillery, so I have some weird fixation on big guns and explosions these days. :D
Hoping for a nice experience and fine crewmates to fly with!

I'm not Finnish myself, but I think that it's just the coolest country in the world. No contest.

Anyways, welcome to GoIO!

What a lack of manners that I've been talking here for weeks but haven't introduced myself. Time to fix it.

Welcome everybody, I'm Redorio diVario on other sites known also as Ric Simane. I've joined GoI about 2 weeks ago when my friends encouraged me to buy this game and I've probably became more excited about it than they xD. You may already have noticed me posting like mad in Feedback & Suggestions or, since I'm from Poland, joining mostly European servers. I'm really glad to be part of this community and hope to stay here for long. So I greet you all and hope to see you guys on the battlefields.

Well, after a week or so of playing, I finally decided to post on the forum. So...hello all.

I hope to be an industrious member of the community and the game...supplying suggestions, gameplay, and wit(in roughly 1 part - 4 parts - 50 parts). The few games under clan captains(namely the Ducks and the Cohort to give credit) has really opened my eyes on what decent gameplay can be like. Thusfar however I feel like the shy fat girl sitting in the corner at prom, too shy to talk because I don't know anyone and too pudgy to be truly confident. I intend to change that soon enough though. See you all in the skies.

Well hello there!

As I've been on the forums now for over a week I thought I'd tell everyone a bit about me.

I have had Goio since the steam sales and have worked my hardest to understand all aspects of airship warfare.
I'm a 21 old guy from England, I currently work in the royal airforce as an engineer.. coincidence? XD
I'm quite experienced in the game already and always up for a game with anyone. I'm quite outspoken and love chitchat and banter. I welcome anyone to add me if they want a few games and I challenge all CA's and musers to a deathmatch
well I hope to see some of you soon. Happy hunting!

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

Ship 1

Captain Roy
Mark Abrams
Ataris
MetaFive

Ship 2

RearAdmiralZill
Shinkurex
Fluitaire
N-Sunderland

I can't think of what the best possible crew would be. Too many CAs are amazing at the game. The above is just one of many more or less equal options.

Hmmmm well, I guess I might as well post in here now that I'm in the habit of regularly checking these forums...

I'm Imagine, been playing pretty casually on and off for quite a while now. I'm quite excited to see where the game is going, and am thrilled to see that the lobby is full of hundreds of folks and dozens of games instead of the like... 20-30 and like two game that there was just a little while ago. I'm glad to see the kickstarter for adventure mode has succeeded (I did contribute, can't wait to get the swag), and I have a few friends who are intrigued by the new mode so yay!

Anyways, I hope to see ya guys in game, I'm usually either banging on stuff with a spanner or flying around with an incredibly aggressive spire (nothing quite as amusing as ramming with a spire)... feel free to say hi or add me to friends list!

Hi everyone! I go by Big Dave or Dave in-game. I love this game so much! It's really different in terms of gameplay and of the quality of the community. I am so very tired of FPS games and main stream games such as WoW, LoL, and Starcraft. This is a breath of fresh air to me.

This game encourages team play AND makes it extremely easy to communicate and enact team play. People here are nice and willing to help you out so that together, you can have fun! I would say winning, but honestly losing is just as fun (sometimes).

So far my favorite class is pilot, followed by engineer. I like to fly Squids, Pyramidions, Spires, and Junkers. I won't typically be seen flying a goldfish or galleon but I don't mind engineering on them!
I'm friendly and totally up for giving advice and taking it, so feel reassured that if you see me in game, that you're with a player who is hoping to have an awesome game experience with you!

Evening, ladies and gents. I'm Gear Ghost, entrepreneurial engineer extraordinaire. Been having lots of fun with the game so far, saw it on Steam and immediately purchased a four pack and sent it to friends. I've since convinced another three to purchase, beyond the first three, and try to add more every day  :D . Still learning a bit of parkour, but I feel I have the engineering basics down pat. Got a pretty skilled pilot friend, and my girlfriend KattyEyedKay is turning into a pretty mean gunner.

Look forward to sailing the skies with all of you!

Sup all, name's TracyJackson and can tell you that I am not a girl despite my name. I just started playing this game a week ago and have been playing as Engi most of the time, dabbled as gunner for two matches. I can tell that there's a lot of work to do in-game and you are always busy, which keep me on my toes. I'm still learning the game and am concentrating on just being an Engineer for now

Anyways, my real name is Chris and I'm a college student. Been playing video games for way too long, hahah. My first PC game was Half Life: Counter Strike, but my first real game played was a Zelda game on the GBC. I used to play Madden NFL for a semi-professional team, but quit after the commitment and time constraint got a bit too much. Now, just aiming to get into corporate law or some stuff...class of 2016, dual-degrees student (BA in PoliSci, JD from law school).

Time to get back to the ship !

Hey people! :D  I'm a female engineer~ (although my chara is male in the game lol)
I bought GOI somewhere during mid- May I had only started to play it today as I was not really fond of team plays but I'm glad I gave it a try! I really like the community here, most of the people are willing to help us newbies out and give protips and stuff during the gameplay. So far, playing as an engineer has been quite easy in most cases (and tiring especially when things go kaboom everywhere @.@). I hope to make new friends and have fun playing this game~ :D

Greetings everyone, I am one of the swarms of newbie engineers, I was introduced to the game by a friend who bullied me into buying it so he'd have someone to play with, I don't think I'll ever stop thanking him. So far my favourite ship is the goldfish, but engineering it is exhausting so at the moment I'm crewing a Pyramidion with some mates. We camp round the edges of the map and deal out divine merc justice to everything from frankly ridiculous ranges. Very glad to be joining the community and hope to learn lots and find some interesting people :)

Well, what can I really say here.. I've really recently started up playing the game, and I'm pretty much brand new to the forums as of today. In game, I've been hitting it up as a pilot with my main ship being the pyra (don't hate) with my secondary being a blenderfish. I don't really have a crew as I came into this game by myself, but usually I am able to pull together some randoms and get some kills on the board. My strategy is the get in fast, rip off their armour and kiss ram hit them until they split in two. Other than that, I appreciate the welcome I've gotten so far in the community, and I can't wait to continue to fly with everyone here.

Game was good enough that I bought stuff in game (this never happens, I just wanted to support Muse).

Um. Hai.

I'm Plasmarobo, but just call me Plasma. Way easier apparently. Dunno why people have such trouble saying "Robo". My favorite bastardization is "Plasma-bro".

Anyway, I am a pilot and a captain at heart, and have recently become "not terrible". Flying is my first love, but if you need me to, I'll pick up the old hammer and spanner. Not a terrible engineer, but I care nothing for your engineering achievements, though I'll do my damnedest to keep ya alive.

But yeah. I'm a Student still, but I've designed/am designing computer parts for a major firm. A good chunk of you have probably used our products, though I'm sure you don't know it.

But yeah, if you see me in the skies, say hi!

"The sale" is pretty vague considering there have been at least three other sales since we've started playing.  :P  For what it's worth, we've been playing since March.

This is probably the best thread for this HIGHLY anal retentive post.

My name is dragonmere, not Dragonmere. My username ALWAYS has a lowercase D, unless I'm on a system/service that requires first letter of username to be capitalized (which i HATE), or I screwed up royally and there is no way to change it.

Dragonmere with a capital D is someone else, a user on a long forgotten local BBS about 17+ years ago. He was the first person I ever played multi-player games with. We played BBS-Doors games, MuDs, and dial-up Doom. I lost track of him around when AOL 2.0 came out (NOW FEATURING THE WORLD WIDE WEB!) and BBSes fell by the wayside, so I picked up his name as a tribute to his inspiring my interest in online gaming. I dropped the capital D out of respect for him.

Seeing people address me as Dragonmere is one of my pet peeves. I told you this was an incredibly anal post. :D

I haven't posted here yet, so I'll take this chance now that I noticed this thread to say a hello to the GoIO community.

Bronies by reputation tend to care about the feelings of others, and make sure a good time is had by all. Anyone who identifies with that subculture is welcome on my ship.

Being in and out of their community, I can say that I have seen both sides of the coin and it's not always like that, humans are still humans after all.

Having said that, I tend to care a lot, sometimes too much for my own good, thank you for the warm welcome, looking to fly with and alongside you in the future.

Cheers~

One of the few modern-day cartoons I actually managed to watch for more than an episode or two. :D

But yes, I think friendship is magic in GoIO, too. Because with friends you get a better crew, and with a better crew you get a better score. :D

Oh hello. My name is RomanRunner (ok, it isn't really my name, but the only people that don't call me Roman are my parents.)  I got GoIO around December or January and started playing with some friends. Unfortunetly at the time my lag was so bad I could do nothing but uninstall.  When the Steam trading cards added Guns to it, I reinstalled and gave it another shot.  I've been flying since :)

I'm a gunner at heart but since most captains talk to gunners like special ed kids I've taken up engineering as well. Since I've gotten so attatched to the game (and started to recognize regular names I see alot) I figured I should come say hi on the forums.

I've been playing GoI for 2 or 3 months, usually I fly a Pyramidion named "Dakka dakka dakka", my hobbies are Ramming and giving orders with a thick Brazilian accent.

Joined the forums to learn some new tricks, make some friends and to stave off boredom during work hours.

I feel it's a bit late for this, because most people know who I am, "the husky with the big mouth".I'm JohnTheHusky, A crazed pilot that usually rams everything that gets in his way. That's why I called my ship(Which is a pyramidion) "The Flying Pyrammer". A gentleman in the morning, a mannered player in the afternoon, and a crazy beast in the evening, and a true psycho in the midnight. If you're flying against me, remember to always watch your back, or to make sure not to stay too close to a sandstorm, because I usually charge through them just to ram everything in my way.
But, honestly, I'd rather help people out.OI, If you want to play with me, just say so.I'm friendly, and a dog, woof woof.
Some people also call me "Jawj" or simply John. I'M NOT JON SNOW, I don't even watch games of thrones.
AND I CAN'T STAND HOMOPHOBES, 1V1 ME HOMOPHOBES. I dare you!

What's up, Im Gamguak in game and Gilberto in real life.

I started off as a Gunner and played through that for a long time until one night on a match in The Labyrinth. We were being chased on the back, and I constantly asked the Captain of the ship to turn us around so I could shoot at the enemy. When the Captain didnt respond, I tabbed and realized I was the only on left on the ship. Abandoning the Heavy gun at the front, I took the wheel and turned us around. With only an AI crew, I took out 5 ships and won the match, all other allies having surrendered. I began Piloting from that day forward.

Yep that's it XD

Name IvKir in game, or "Some Russian pilot" also works. I'm somewhat teamplay and a pilot - mostly because no one in my family-team (Captain's Blad Children, or CBC for short) can't fly good... soo, what's else.

Ah - we love meet good teams, who can give us a good and fair fight, or a helping hand in battle. And we love challenge, so if you ever need a good opponent - just give us a shout. ^_^

I'm not often flying with random people, but when i do - i'm glad to help new ones and trying as much as possible (and my English allow me) give general direction to the crew.

I am the Elusive NinJay. Not a ninja, mind you. NinJays have a tendency to forget their task and join in on the conversations of their targets.

Uh, well, I'm some teenaged guy in a state with almost 3 times as many cows as people. Though I'm assuming I'm still early to what looks like will become the best anything ever, I wish I found this game a lot earlier on. I do hope to become a recognizable member of the community here.

I ski, play bass and mandolin, am considering writing for cracked.com, spend way too much time staring at cartoon horses, and have far too many interest to actually be good at any of what I do.. But I can ski and math. I may suck at life, but I'm pretty damn good at math.

Nickel Creek is my favorite band. Andrew Stein isn't bad, either. The only music genre in which I have yet to hear a song I've thoroughly enjoyed is that death metal/screamo region.

Okay I can't even think of any more to say -_- Talk to me if you actually read all that crap. I get lonely in my igloo.

Have an absolutely spiffing day,

No need to fear the sting of not having the most daring pilot in the universe among you any longer friends!
For I am here, THE GREAT D.R.R. STEAMHAND Captain of the legendary RED FOX CHIPOTLE

My most praiseworthy accolades include:
- I had a kill:death above even for like 2 hours once
- TWO Seperate Gunners said "Good position" while blowing stuff up

And like any good pilot I have some the most daring signature moves in the skies including, but not limited to:
- Ramming into mountains in full reverse while trying to avoid enemy fire
- Needing to pee mid-firefight
- Leaving the hydrogen on and getting mad at the engineers when the balloon goes down
- And scaring everyone on the ship by playing chicken with Pyramidions

P.S. No, I will not tell you what D.R.R. stands for, and no, it totally isn't a cop-out because I couldn't think of a good first name

Hello everybody, my name is RockCambo. My good friend you know as Piemanlives had told me about this game for months, and until now I had just gotten it.  I will admit upfront that I really have little interest in the steampunk genre (don't start a witch hunt for me, unless you want to :(), which is what kinda put me off from the game (aside from playing other games on Steam) . But despite this, I got it because I had been told that the gameplay is great and the community is awesome (and silly).

I'll man your guns if you need a hand, and maybe toss a wrench or hammer (maybe fire extinguisher) at a broken component. However, don't count on me flying any ships. That's why I've named my ship the Flying Wonder-Potato (because it'll be a wonder if I can fly it, and potatoes are potatoes).

I'll be getting more started in the coming weeks, I can't wait to play with or against you. My current highlight of my hour or so of first impressions involved staring at a plant for a good minute or two during the tutorials :P

Hullo all. I'm Wlonk, and I've been interested in this game for a bit. The Steam sale pushed me over the edge into getting it (and copies for friends!) and I played for the first time last night. I'm really interested in a lot of what Muse is doing here—I do tabletop game design myself, and video and tabletop design usually don't overlap this much in terms of social dynamics design.

Really exciting!

Hello all!

I'm Ferji and I got the game during the last Steam Sale and fell in love with those airships and the overall design of the game :).

Still learning the ropes but I hope my engineering wasn't that disastrous so far ;).

See you on deck!

Hi my name is geno and i'm a goioholic..  :D

I'm a hardcore fan of aliens (hence avatar and nickname etc) and been in many other games before. I really like the warm welcome and respectable community of this game and enjoy it very much. My nickname was very popular in AvP2 and i must have known at least 5 others with the same nickname. It comes from a comic Aliens: genocide and i liked that a lot back in the day. So i've pretty much kept that and friends know me still by that name.

I've met some of you ingame and hope to meet more. I love the fun, the teamwork and socialising with great players. Glad to be part of it.

Hello everybody, time to make my forum debut, I thought I would put an end to my forum lurking days and introduce myself to the community.
I am Karstark, I have been playing now for only about a a fortnight and so far I am pretty much addicted to this highly original, tactics and teamwork based, aero-nautical steam punk romp.
My first forays into airship skirmishes on GoI ended in catastrophe as I found the learning curve to be steep. But  I resolved to improve my skills and knowledge in order to become a valued crew member.  This lead me to the forums forums where I absorbed some of the beginner guides and theory craft threads. I also had the good fortune of meeting an accomplished player in game named Red Ace who took the time to teach myself and three other noobs all of the roles, responsibilities and techniues of each crew class. This was immensely helpful to those of us that were taken under his wing. We then went on to be a  extremely formidable crew for the next batch of games instead of floundering and faltering into firy oblivion.  I take my hat off to all players that take their time out to properly engage with and educate new players, welcoming  them to the game, giving them a positive first impression in addition to another good reason to want to play.
Since then I have become a tough opponent to play against, my strongest points being pilot and gunner. I thrive on the tactical aspects of the dogfight as well as the team cohesion with crew and friendly vessels required in order to best the enemy ships one way or another. Though I still have much and more to learn, I have taken to passing on my knowledge to fledglings and I welcome the opportunity to invest my time in a level 1 crew member as it guarantees a competent crew member and friend in the future.
I recognise many familiar names from this forum as being regulars in the public matches, I look forward to many more tense and frantic battles with you in the future.  As allies or as adversaries,  I value respect for one another, good sportsmanship and honour.

Good morning, good day, good evening and good night.

I am NorwegianWolf, although in-game I would like people to just refer to me as Wolf to make it easier for everyone. ;)
I started my Guns of Icarus career right of the bat as a captain, and got mostly good feedback (mostly).
I have since discovered my talent as an engineer seeing as the kleptomaniac that I am. :P
Just remember never to ask me to be a gunner, because you will regret it (only real good at sniping).

If anyone has questions about the game, or need any help just ask. I have a reputation for making people understand stuff (or so I  have been told).

Well, hello guys! My name is Kalidas, and I'm a new member of this community and I want to delve into this community and the game that this community offers as well. I'm a talkative guy but not only that but I always had a fascination in the steampunk genre that I never got around to actually study but just skim over my eyes to these genres like a little look over and that's about it. But this game kind of flares the inspiration to look into it more and more about the aircrafts provided that I can see what can be a good outlook to seeing the genre. I was first introduced to this game by an old friend named Pieman, and I have to say that since he first introduced me I couldn't have said no because one he was and is a good friend of mine and two like said, I had a good look on the steampunk genre.

I hope to look more into these things and not just skim over them but to actually learn for once, I like to meet new people and I will glad to be friends with anyone here if they would wish it, though I'm active on the Steam Community better than on this site, so connecting to me there is a much better sensation and connectivity avail to start off with. Hope to see you if you want! :D

Greetings, fellow captains, greasemonkeys and all!

I am Jacob Fii, the man of a thousand faces (none of which you can see because I'm invisible). I am also the man of seven to twelve voices.

I've been playing since summer and this game has quickly held fast in my nearest and dearest. I have made a lot of fantastic friends and am now helping to organise events for clans and fly with the people I love - which is a blessing.

If you've met me during matches or on the forums you will probably remember me for my propensity to make cat-like purring sounds, use long words and outdated English idioms, crash my ships into anything and everything and know exactly how long we have left before our hull disintegrates into the kind of fine powder one uses to bake a cake - since I am one.

My trains of thought are legendary and travel at precisely 1764 miles an hour on average, with stops for passengers every third junction. They also have no tangible meaning or moral and tend to draw circles or crash spectacularly, just like my airship's vapour contrails.

I look forward to seeing you again in the skies.

Hi. I'm Zoffmode and I fell absolutely addicted to the game. While my preference is to fly the ship, I do love helping out good captains by being a gunner or engineer. I can fly a ship with a silent crew, but I absolutely abhor being a gunner or engi in a silent environment. I'm currently one pilot achievement away from being locked out of beginner matches, so it's also my last chance to try out some crazy gunning or engineering. ;-)

I hope to play with some fun crews out here. While I love winning, having good atmosphere on the ship is all I'm looking for.  :P

zoffmode is my GoIo name, and my steam is http://steamcommunity.com/id/zoffmode . Feel free to add me and invite when you're looking for crewmen.

I'm Dresdom, spanish farseer! New to the game and to the forums, but already in love with both of them. I love gunning things down, and I'd love to captain a ship, but I'm the worst steerer ever. I tried once and the crew kept shouting, cursing and blaming me so now I think I'd better don't touch the helm  :P

There's no spanish board? That's unconvenient. Is there any spanish-speaking clan?

Hello everyone! My name's Oliver, but you can call me whatever you want as long as I can understand you're referring to me.

I got this game long ago but didn't play it until a few months back since my friends were too busy to join me and I didn't want to ruin other people's winning streaks - you can all thank me later.

Anyway, I decided to join the forum because so far all the people I've played with (and against) have been great, so I figured I'd return the favour by bringing in my ever so enjoyable presence around...

In all seriousness though, the game is awesome, the community is awesome and I'm sure this place is no less. [<- cheesy]

Now let's move along, those ships won't fly themselves!

Post by: Commodore Phoenix on January 07, 2014, 06:09:42 pm
How long has this been a thing before anybody decided to tell me?

Well anyway lets begin with the start or maybe the end not sure yet but only I decide

Ok its the start,

Along time ago in a flying scrapheap a man was fighting for his country against raiders and pirates and nice people, he was a brave man, a strong man and he was a kind man. But one day he returned home to find his family ravaged by raiding parties and various other scoundrel based groups. To his horror they left nothing for him, so he buried his family with nothing but his bare hands, on the freshly dug dirt he promised that he would never rest till all off the galaxy burned the way his family had without him there. So he took to the skys in chase of the blaggards who had destroyed the things he had loved, for now his heart was black never to love or care again, and he decended upon the world destroying peoples morale as he went. Until one fateful day where he came across the pirates he had long searched for hidden by a local community. Fearing for their lives they destroyed his ship while he slept, so that when he awoke they would be long gone. However not all went their way for the man had heard of their plans and had secretly acquired a biplane to chase them down before they escaped for he knew he could not take them all on as a single man.

So as the pirates made their escape at the dawning of the new sun, the black hearted man gave chase. The battle was long for there were many pirates but they were slowly brought down till there was only a galleon left. Wishing to see his enemys dead he charged full speed at them guns blazing but alas his wing was hit by a flak shot and it caught fire sending him into a deathly spin. With his plane on fire and death staring him in the face he knew he still had one last ship to claim, calling on all of his luck he managed to pull his plane back from the brink and charged the raging fireball straight at the galleon smashing it against its deck bringing doom swiftly to the ship.

No-one knows what happened to the man in the plane most assumed he died. However a burned man with no memory but with a terrible hate for all things that ran deep inside was found not a few days later close to death by the wreckage. Having no name he took the name "Phoenix" a nickname given by the towns folk as an omen for bad things due to the pilot who sook only revenge. Phoenix left not long after he healed and became a pilot earning the rank of Captain. However he was soon discharged on counts of assault so he took up the role of mercenary selling his services to the highest bidder.

There are many rumors that precede him saying he is a devil who only speaks tongues. A man who finds only faults. And people should never go on his ship. All true

And that boys and girls is who I am. A misunderstood person. Who does terrible things to nice people.

The End

Ohai there,

I'm Narcotic, and also go by the name of Nuno.
I'm friends with Oliver; in fact, we come from the same pole of the moon.
Started playing GoI ages ago, shortly after it first came on steam, loved it, but had other priorities (school, work, other games) at the time so I ended up uninstalling it.

Recently, Oliver suggested we play it and it's been a lot of fun although I haven't won a match for a couple of consecutive days. You can all thank me for contributing to your positive win/loss ratio - unless you were in my ship.

I'd also like to add that I love narrating what's happening in the ship with a deep, trailer-like voice. And I love to scream ABANDON SHIP and jump off when things get chaotic.

Cheers!

Hello, Ernest Wolf here.

I am mostly a gunner, but I do enjoy playing engineer as well. I like the sound of the hull going down on enemy ship and a good shot with Hwacha or mortar on it. I also want to be a pilot one day, but since I play this game for about only 1 month, I think I should stick to those first. When I start as a pilot, I'll be drunk for first matches just like most of the pilots. Well... that's about me, see ya in the skies.

First of all, all the pilots do not have a drinking problem. We don't have a problem with drinking at all, it goes down really smoothly. And we're not drunk, we're nuts, crazy, fun and tipsy in an advanced stage.

that's questionable because im not drunk, I explain my way of killing the enemy TO THE ENEMY.
and still manage to get 5-0 matches.

to be pilot you need to be nuts, crazy, insane, prepared for the worst and outsmart your enemies by foolishnes.

Kind of like that MM VS Cake game a while back, we got lucky that one time and it got us the round, still got handed by the MM though.

Ahoy mentlegen!

As you can probably guess, I really really like the color blue.

I may or may not know Oliver and Narcotic from various poles of the moon... perhaps...

I too also have the game for quite a few months and only recently started playing... at the suggestion of someone... who might or might or not be Oliver...

Nonetheless, you can trust me to run in panic to the hull with my fire extinguisher whenever necessary... as long as the toaster I use to play GoI doesn't succumb to the gigantic amount of particle effects from explosions and flames...

If I ever replace my toaster with something more powerful (an oven would be really great), you might be able to trust me to deal with the damage when ramming your ship!

Ello. My name is Buchou (means "boss" in Japanese. It's a reference to a character in the anime Highschool DxD, where my clan tag also comes from).

I got this game in January 2013, according to my in game profile, but I only played for a month. I started playing again before Christmas, and have fallen in love with this game again.

I'm from Australia, so I have a natural ability as a fortune teller due to living in the future.

I enjoy having fun, and if I can win ass well then that's a bonus! I love stripping hull armor, using moonshine and being showered in ship guts after a successful ram kill. I hate getting hwacha'd, double gunner ships and people that use incendiary Gatling guns against me.

I'm a cheevo farmer at heart and there ain't nothing you can do to change me ;D

Um, hi... I'm Alicia Jewel. (Okay, that's not my real name, but it's one I've stuck with online for years.) I like to hit things with mallets and occasionally blow things up. I'm terribly shy and haven't let anybody but my friend be my captain.

Also, I taste bad. Please don't eat me.

Ohai! I really hope you see this!
Welcome to the community, and don't be shy!

I would never cutyourheadoffwitharustyspanner were you to... end up on the other team. That's just silly!

Hello to all who are new and welcome to the world of Guns of Icarus Online. I like to introduce, or re-introduce to those who already know me  :P, myself. As you can see from my name over my avatar picture, I am BdrLineAzn (BorderLineAsian for those not knowing the abbreviation), a not so sane, but sorta sane pilot, gunner and engee. Hmm not so sane, but sorta sane, is that really the thought process of a sane person? But if I'm thinking about this logically that that thought is not of a sane one but I am sane by thinking about this logically? Oh well  :P.

Feel free to introduce yourself here, we don't bite. But LDT do give warm but uncomfortable hugs, be weary.

So se you all out there

Then may I step in?  As a pilot, I would like to say that... If you are sober- you are not doing it correctly.

Good day
that's questionable because im not drunk, I explain my way of killing the enemy TO THE ENEMY.
and still manage to get 5-0 matches.

to be pilot you need to be nuts, crazy, insane, prepared for the worst and outsmart your enemies by foolishnes.
 :P
You also have to be able to have your fingers fly over the throttle buttons and 1,2,3,4 and then not forget that you turned the throttle on or activated a tool xD

I am Tharnator and i like to shoot things.

That is all, thanks for coming.

Title: Hey, I'm Kyle: Gunner, PC builder, and Sociology student
Post by: KyleADunn on February 21, 2014, 12:56:03 pm
Hello there people of the steamy-skies! I'm Kyle. I fly amongst friends, and eagerly take the gunner's position. I utilize my knowledge of sociology and social psychology to assist the captain-at-hand in understanding and fully utilizing his crewmen. Some may believe it to be foolish to bring real world knowledge and application into the game, but given the high success rates of the ships I've sailed upon, I take it to be fairly successful.

Do not take me for a fool, or a "noob", merely based upon my match number or levels. The other day, a lvl 14 gal scoffed at me when I tried to give input to a captain, saying "40 matches...that's not experience." I prompty blew her and the rest of her higher leveled crew out of the sky.

I hope that I may become a well integrated member of our society, and I'm looking forward to chatting with any and all mature players out there!

On a side note, I am also a computer hardware technician. I build computers ranging from budgets of $350 - $1,500. I will assist any and everyone with designing a build of AMD/Intel, with ATI/Nvidia, 100% free of charge. I enjoy helping others and designing custom computers. I have even helped a fellow do the building from states away, by having him attach a webcam to the bill of his cap. The build ran flawlessly. So yeah, just PM me! Custom builds are cheap and powerful. $600 is a good budget for a powerful AMD build, or $800 for Intel. And no, you don't buy anything from me.

No matter what forum/game I go on, I'm always missing the introductions thread. Typical.

Anyway, hello! Some of you might have seen me in game, but for those who haven't, I'm Syco: musician/producer/madman by day, bad engineer/terrible gunner/even worse pilot by night. If you were one of the millions of people who watched the Aerodrome videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZtRYGJmYS0), you will have heard some of my work. I used to do strictly Electronic Music but recently I've moved onto more orchestral stuff as well as producing music for the band.

Generally I fly with the Bully Boys (for the simple reason that they're always online when I am) and I mostly play as an engineer. I wouldn't mind getting more flight time in but my career keeps me off the grid for days at times. Still, I enjoy the moments I get whenever I get to play.

Also, I'm Irish, so if you hear me mumbling incoherently with occasional gulps in between, please ignore everything I am saying.  :P

Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying your day and this game of course  :D

I actually had and played this game for couple months now but never actually checked the forums or posted anything.

So today I decided its finally time to post something on the forums and get to know the community a little better.

My ingame name is curently SalmonSushi, I am currently on the EST time zone of Canada.
My twitchTV name would be sojuTiger and my Steam name is Camofrog.

I usually play the engineer class in game but I would prefer to play the gunner actually (I guess everyone does?   ::))
I pretty much play everyday so I would appreiciate if anyone wants to play with me.
That being said I am not the best or really bad at this game but I do know all the basics of this game.

On the casual side, I finished school this year and my goal is to join a company as a Marketing and Promotion position. I love presenting ideas and information to people alot, and talking in general so I am currently looking foward to finding a job where I can work as a team to promote a product or the company overall. I have no specific type of company or group that I want to join right now, however I would not mind if I get hired at a video game studio or anything game related.

Hope to see everyone in game and thank you Muse Games for an amazing game!

Hi everybody!  I'm shae.  my fiance -who apparently just posted as I was typing- has been playing a little while, and I was really interested, so he bought me a four-pack of the game for my birthday, which was promptly distributed among friends.  we're both really enjoying the game and we both really want to see this community grow, so I thought I'd say hi and get to know you guys a little better.
I used to play Air Warrior wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the day (the 90s), before they took it down...and I played on a small Ragnarok Online server for years, until it went down...each kind of left a hole when they did.  I've been playing more casual games since.  I've missed playing something community-driven.  this game is giving me that thing I've been missing, and I'm quite grateful to Muse and all you awesome people out there that I've met so far.

looking forward to seeing you in the skies.

Just before I forget to add in my lil' piece of sand to this, here it comes!

--

Hello fellow Sky Traveler, Adventurer, Pirate, or even Mercenary! Axlgx here, to sum to the list of people that fly in the skies!
If we meet in a Tavern, Bar, Pub, or illegal distillery, I wouldn't mind getting a drink to share with you, with the obvious exchange of bullets in the battlefield the next second!
Of course, I'll try to be nice with you, and everyone else in the same ship. And of course, there is no promise that you leave the battle unharmed! (Same with me...)
But, as every good fighter of the skies, we have a code of honour... Well... Kindoff.
I love playing strange strategies, such as Ramming, cloud-shifting, and minefields. Minefields everywhere!
I'm planning on getting the Spire once I reach rank 4, and I have a perfect name for it...

Anyways, I'm waiting for the moment when we meet in the Sky, mate!

Post by: RedRoach on May 31, 2014, 07:29:33 pm
Hey everyone, my name is RedRoach, but most people would prefer to call me either Red or Roach depending on said people. I've gotten the game a few weeks ago from a Steam sale and have been in love for a while. I prefer playing around as an engineer, but more often than not I find myself in front of a gun. I still stay as engineer in the end though, because when the poop hits the engine, a gunner doesn't have enough tools to repair, rebuild and extinguish all at the same time. Although my mic is operational, some unusual conflict between my game and my computer have caused my game to freeze every now and then when I hit the voice button... for 20 seconds and causing much stress in a heated battle, so text chat has become my friend now.

Hopefully, when the ship is burning and our hull is flashing, I'll see you from my crash.

Oh hello!  I'm Sparky.  I'm a fairly new but also fairly addicted player.  I've played over 500 matches in the less-than-a-month since joining, so perhaps I've flown with you or shot at you or had a laugh waiting in a lobby.  Shooting things is my favorite.  I like to fly with silly people who communicate and take the game seriously enough to want to win, but don't yell at each other or act too tryhard.  I like to drink rum while I play because it makes me feel like a sky pirate.  Say hi if you see me in the skies!  :)

Hi! I'm obliviondoll, and I'm a very new arrival in the game.

I've been on the forums for a few days, mostly lurking, but with a couple of posts. Today, I finally got a chance to actually play the game alongside a couple of friends.

I've played only a handful of matches, and I already know I'm going to be here for a while. This game is great fun, and I look forward to learning and improving and eventually becoming at least competent. I've done badly in some games, and had a moderate level of success in others. I feel like I'm a weak link, but not so severe a weak link that I can't learn from watching how others play. Hopefully I'll be able to keep learning from people here as well as in-game.
Title: Re: Introductions!
Post by: Queso on July 02, 2014, 09:17:35 am
Welcome to a life in the skies obliviondoll. If I may offer some advice, I'd say start out as engineer. That will give you the most knowledge on how the game operates and how ships go from flying high to sitting as a pile of debris in the sand. If you do want to pick up gunning, learn about the different damage types. Piercing will get you through their armor, bit not much rather, while explosive will help you finish them off. If you are looking to become a pilot, you'll need to communicate absolutely everything to anyone that needs to hear it. You'll need to fly in agreement with the other captains in the game, and you'll need to know when and how to engage the enemy. No matter what you play or how you play it though, your greatest tool is your ability to communicate.

Best of luck to you and see you in the skies,
Queso

Hey, i'm RistoH. The captain of Suicidal Sealife, I play guns of icarus online when possible. When i fly i get worried if i get a crew because i am one of the worst squid pilots which my squids' name should already tell you.

Practice Practice and you guessed it more practice,

Few questions to ask yourself.

1.Kill or Support/disable

Gat mortar is the kill squid, higher skill is needed but obviously shortens the time drastically that you are vulnerable,

Carronade flamer is the disable/support set up, You should be able to take down most ships 1v1 but problem is with this build is the time it takes to do so, and just like the kill ship relies on you engaging second not first so learn the maps and blind spots, most popular routes,

2.Know the loadout,

No gunner on a squid-

1-spanner mallet extingusher for balloon and when things go bad, perhaps fire overload due to bad chem spraying and rebuilds on hull spanner will save you them few precious seconds,

2-buff engineer *1-wrench buff chem-this is you engines guy, learn the rotation of the u round the back of the squid and keeps the balloon buffed and chemed and the engines buff and chemed balloon engineer should be repairing them,

3-buff engineer*2-wrench spanner chem-front'rear gunner self sufficient maintains the front gun with chem and buff  meaning you always have that primary damage,

3.Tools to bring

Kerosene-claw-hydro *edit so people like tar over claw because of buffed engines but personal choice,

Communication is KEY you need to tell your crew when you are about to use hydro or when you are using kero, assuming gets you killed, can't afford a engine down or a balloon, In a squid you get one shot normally it has to be perfect,

Above is just my thoughts and how i run my squid, chances are you already know it all but you never know,

Good luck and don't give up.

I suppose I better make an introduction - I'm Moike, an NCO of Overwatch. I've actually been playing for over a year, and I do check the forums occasionally however I thought that I ought to join the forums at some point :P

I tend to Engi most of the time but you may have seen me pilot about in my pyra, That's A Paddlin', or my less serious galleon Show Me Hwacha Got (full of hwachery goodness as the name might suggest).

First off, welcome aboard Pheer! Nice to have you on board, though you've been around for a few weeks but welcome nonetheless!

Deqoui and Moike, it's nice to see both of you have found your way to the forum, stick around and you may see something interesting among our varied arguments about why the Pyra is OP and why the Junker needs a nerf to its turning engines!

Hello, I am Bronzium. I usually go by GoldMan27 in most games I play, though I seem to use Bronzium more frequently these days.

Anyways, I've had my eye on Guns of Icarus Online for a VERY long time (probably since around February of last year), and only a day ago finally bought it. I unfortunately run a poor laptop at the moment (getting a better, more powerful replacement soon), which is the reason why I held off on buying the game until now actually.

Due to my poor rig, I can only seem to play in Practice mode, and even then I get framerate spikes and latency on occasion (even on low settings). I can't say I've much experience with the game itself, though I have frequented gameplay videos on YouTube so I can get a basic understanding of the ships and arsenal. Even so, there's still loads of newer stuff to me, so it'll take me a bit to get used to everything.

Until I get my laptop, you won't see me online (if you do, it'll only be for a few minutes before I experience a huge framerate spike and log out). Though until then, hope to make friends here! :)

I think people might know me as the guy who keeps asking if there are any Asian players around. (I'm just hoping that there are enough Asian players to populate a game on the Asian server, but I guess I'll make do with 250 ping on the American servers.) I'm a sucker for anything steampunk, but I genuinely like the concept of this game and the gameplay.

I'm still a really new player here, so please pardon me if I do anything stupid on board your ship (but do tell me why my decisions were bad).

Ahoy - looks like I'm the first person to post here since the start of the current Steam sale.

It kind of bothers me that I hadn't heard of GoIO (or as I like to spell it, "goyo") until it popped up in my Steam discovery queue yesterday morning. Or equally disturbing is the idea that I had seen it earlier and dismissed it. I have to admit that I have a bias against the steampunk aesthetic and I haven't had much experience with team-based ship-to-ship combat, so I can imagine that I might have seen the description for this game and ignored it based on the metacritic score (which I've since learned to ignore). I almost skipped it yesterday as well, except that I always drill down on user reviews for any game which has an "Overwhelmingly Positive" reception.

And I'm glad I did. Although crewing with equally inexperienced randoms was somewhat entertaining (mostly scrambling to keep the ship in one piece), once I started playing with captains who knew how to play and communicate the game made a quantum leap from somewhat entertaining to incredibly awesome. Probably my favorite part is the tension when your ship is healthy and no enemies have been spotted - everyone is scanning the sky, watching and waiting.

I liked it so much, I bought the 4 pack, then I went to the in game store and bought some duds. (And I imagine I'll be sending some more doubloons to Muse to support the adventure game.)

My goodness, still haven't posted in here after countless hours in game as well as on the forums...

Anyways, I'm Replaceable. I'm in cake. I like to do everything, but I've played engineer the most.
My name is for three reasons, one is if I do badly, you can blame the captain for letting the Replaceable guy on board. Two is If I do good it is Ironic. And third, expendable black guy is offensive (we were all powder monkeys once. Aha ;))

I was brought into the game by Melon, (we came with other friends but they left.)
I also did the leave the game for a while after Melon, and our friends shouted at me to repair the balloon. I couldn't walk past a balloon irl for weeks afterward without being mocked :s
In fact they still say: "Cam, Balloon!" to me from time to time now.

There are very few people here I haven't flown with.
If this is the case put it down to time zones, add me and come fly with me sometime :D

Another Five says you haven't played a match with the crazy choking-on-nonexsistant-swarm-of-butterflies-while-dying-of-bottle-of-pepsi-and-mentos me yet.

I kinda linger around in the off times around 2-3 in the afternoon for the weekends, and this goes with most of you who've just picked up the game. *nod towards Donkey* Though you might not see me when I'm hyper because I control myself in pub matches, prefer to use text chat, and only go berserk in the presence of a welcoming lobby.

I am Indreams. I began playing May 16th of 2014, and I am aspiring to be counted among the best pilots in game.

My friends tell me that I am boring, serious and grammatically correct.

I'm a student, and when the class isn't doing anything, I like to hang out on the forum. I hope that I can be a positive contribution to the community.

I usually play one to three games of GOIO everyday. If you get to fly with me, please say hello. I'd love to be your barely-competent pilot.

Thank you for reading,  :)

You started playing in May? What? BULLSHIT! I THOUGHT I KNEW YOU LESS LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS! (I was thinking it was 1 month XD)

Anyways, don't worry about being a barely-competent pilot. I'm a barely-inadequate pilot, and it's hard learning outside of novice matches when everyone doesn't want a "noob" pilot to be dragging them down.

I got the game on the May 31st. I blame you not joining our forums earlier for me not knowing you. I've had my eye on he forums after hearing about the community about two or s months prior and I literally popped in here the moment I got the game and said hello, asked a question or two, and then made myself elected (by the council of me) as the unofficial keeper of the Ban the User Above You forums.

Shoutout to any new players here, don't be afraid to join in! As long as you're respectful, you're accepted. Then when you're accepted more, you can pull crazy stuff off in the forums like starting threads. Although perfectly fine if you set up a respectful thread on your first try.

Hi all,

I recently purchased Guns of Icarus on Steam and am loving it so far. I'm definitely still learning the mechanics of the game and trying to figure out what the community is like. Hopefully as I spend a little more time playing the game and on the forums, the experience will just keep getting better.

I guess a little about me: I'm a grad student who plays video games to de-stress. I'm usually more of an FPS person, so GOIO's gameplay mechanics feel a little bit unusual. I've sort of gravitated to the pilot role, and I'm really liking the feel of flying a steampunk airship. Hmm... that's all I can think of for now, but feel free to message me. I'm up to get to know new players.
Title: Re: Introductions!
Post by: RedRoach on November 16, 2014, 10:27:06 am
Hey janice!

As long as you listen to people in the game and use their advice, you should be able to avoid the "holy-crap-what-is-this-noob-doing" scenario and instead be blessed with the "I wish you were my first-born son" scenario. No, I have not experienced either one yet.

I also know FPSes gear towards a single player. GOIO does not like it if people single up. Rule of thumg in GOIO: Teamwork is OP.

Welcome aboard!

I started as a engineer but has since then taken the helm aboard the Hyena. I started becoming active on the forum about a few days ago.

I aspire to be a excellent captain and to share my character's story with the GoIO community. I enjoy writing and it's been over a few years since I've had the drive to write. Hello there, I'm MightyKebab, but for the first time ever in my life I've noticed this carefully crafted username of mine was taken, so I just shorted it out by a few words. Keb's still noice however, I'm starting to find a theme in it.

So I found out about this game from a garry's mod server's forums on a thread about well, other games. It sounded fun, I was fancying gunner a bit so I convinced an old friend to buy us all a four pack back in halloween.

Now, like me, EVERYONE was in it for the gunner. Except you know, the cap. I was left to roll with engineer, or, "the-guy-that-whacks-everything" So I've referred that day. We set sail on a junker in the novice playground of dunes for a couple matches. How I remember that day when me and a gunner were whacking a  damaged balloon with a spanner, screaming and panicking in teamspeak, unaware of the repair cooldown and the spanner's weakness. On the way to our second match our old friend-guy-thingy cap told us to do the tutorials. "Don't do Pilot Kebab, you won't need it" he said. "What? No, I'll do them all. Infact, F** you, I'll start with pilot" I talked back in amusement.

Now, the first few gameplays with that Junker made me love playing engineer. Seriously, I have 19 seconds on my gunner. And that's only the time I spent in the training! So before I digress, I played on a few ships, and on my second or third match I played with a stock pyramdion...

It was beautiful. I fell in love with the light gatling as I alternated between lesmok and standard rounds (Lesmok being my go-to for how much I feared the ballistics in the game back then) and sprayed our enemies with some of the armor-juice. 5-0, We destroyed everything in our path. That match right there inspired me to hop on pilot. I looked up the ship, did a match with it. I think I lost my first one, but a few playthroughs later I was turning the tide. By the time I switched to gat-mortar (Without really knowing it was some sort of meta) I was just 5-0 ing all over the novice matches, thus setting the stone for my current win streak of, well, 5, not very impressive but that's what it is. All the while being laughed at by the same friend who bought me the game who now seems to have less of an interest in it than he did before.

Now I've twice as much hours on pilot than I have on engineer. And I crewed the said guy's arse around on a 5-0 match a few days ago. Hehe.

If you ever see a Pyramidion Fancying the name "St.Glaswegian Kiss" around, you know who's on the helm. Blenderfishes'll hate me for the way I love to ram, MY OWN ENGINEERS will hate me for the way I torment and abuse my engines with no remorse in combat (Moonshine <3) and I'll laugh in the face of all Spires as they fail to destroy me even after throwing my arcs off, sealing their fate with the vicious clash of the two constructs amongst the sound of clunking debris and shouts of what could be understood as, "WANNA KISS?!"

I salute to all I've played and have yet to play with, whether you're a tryhard veteran or the what-am-i-doing breed of a newbie, you're all good crewmen under my crew. Maybe not, I'm still easily pissed off when noone's up to my expectations but hey, scream at them to repair the engines once, they won't react before moonshine takes them. Scream at them twice, you're only saying goodbye to your turning engines. Scream at them three times, and if they're still not doing it right they will.. eventually, just scream again and again and... again... and- I don't care anymore, just ragequit if you wanna at that point. Cheers!

PS: Seriously, I'll HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE you if you haven't been repairing those engines by the time I need a claw to make those sharp turns.

PPS: Okay, that's not a good role model, why don't we reduce my feelings for you to, "Mildly annoyed."

Hi everyone. I see a few familiar faces. I am back to the game after a bit of an absence.

I am Kieran Kindree. I fly all of the ships, but if I am ever recognized, it is probably as the pilot of the crazy pop, flame and sit squid, Zephyr.

I occasionally gun and even more rarely engineer, but I probably spend 90-95% of my game time as a pilot and 85-90% of that time as a squid pilot. I just love that little ship (strangely, my next favorite ship is probably the spire followed closely by the Junker. I dislike Galleons and Pyramidions for the most part).

Anyway, I have some pretty great crews, but am always willing and happy to fly with new people. I fly aggressive and talk a lot, but even when I bark orders, I am not trying to be mean - it's just most efficient in the moment of combat. If you're new, I'm totally happy to teach you what little I know. I won't assume people know exactly what to do on my ship, so likewise, if you're experienced and feel I am telling you something you know, just tell me and I'll skip the basics :)

Anyway, I hope to see you all among the clouds and steam.

Hi... I've been flying around on-and-off for about a year now, and almost always as an drunk (atm lvl 23) engineer. Occasionally I've flied as a somewhat sober engineer, and in very desperate times I've fumbled around on deck with a gun as well.
I'm usually quite a silent player, but I always listen to what's said and I'll possibly speak more now that I've gotten myself one of those modern microphones where people actually hear what you say in them..
But that's enough from me, may your hull never break apart and may your balloon never burn asunder! / Cheeseattack

Hey, mates! Birdy the Mighty here, complete noob that I am. The name of my favorite anime fit with this game (I won't explain why, I hope you can figure that out), so I chose that instead of one of my usual names. So in game, if we're pressed for time, you can just call me Bird, if you like!

I've been around this game for about... Well, half an hour, actually. I just registered my email ten minutes ago. You can tell why I called myself a noob - ignorant, at the least. However, here I am, ready to annoy some seasoned veteran with my complete lack of what to do. I'll learn quickly, I promise you players out there! I'm looking forward to enjoying the awesome community that I've seen this game has, cracking jokes, meeting friends, getting drunk together (seems to be a thing, from reading some of the above posts?) and generally enjoying wasting time.

Anyway, if you like a helpful crew member (trying to be, at least), a fun jokester (if you enjoy bad puns), or somebody to discuss life, the world, sports, anime, you name it with (only a little bit pedantic and/or perverted) hit me up and we can play together. I play from Steam, and my steam name is most often 'Me0203'. Don't hesitate to friend me!

Now, I have gaming addiction problems. And I don't care about them. I'm off to get drunk and crash into some things. I'll be back tomorrow, bleary-eyed after staying up all night. See yah, mates.

Wow, I never saw this one

Hi,

I'm probably the weirdest person you'll ever meet.
Catch me in-game I'll either be speaking with a British or Faint American accent.
If I'm flying, I'll either be extremely aggressive or extremely passive and piss the crap out of my allies with tar
If I'm engineering, I'll have the most extreme case of OCD (I haven't used an extinguisher in 4 months)
If I'm gunning, I'll be begging you to switch my gatling with a mine launcher (basically the same way everyone wanted Hwatchas)

I'll either be extremely silent (cause the rest of the house is sleeping), screaming like a moron, or be disconnected (I hate NZ internet)

I'd love to fly with you all but I have a tenancy to be more quiet than I really should (I kinda find it hilarious when everyone is so concentrated they go full-on silent mode)

Hope to see you all out there and if you piss me off,
I'll play "Up Up and Away" until you feel so weird you'll report me for Sexual Harassment :D

I'm Starnsy, but you can call me Starns, Star, Go engineer or So Help Me, or one of my personal favorites "St- Ste- Sta- Stan- STAN. Your name is Stan now." I've had many people get confused by the name, so just make up a nickname for me if you want.
I've got a love for gunning, but I'm a decent everything else.

Some or none of you have flown with me, and I hope to change that to where I've flown with all of you. Every. Single. One.
I'm usually listening to music at pretty much all times during battles, usually whatever I think fits the ship loadout (Burnin' For You- All Flamethrowers.)

I like having fun most of all,  winning isn't everything to me, but I do like a crew that functions well together and likes to have fun as well.

Oh, a fair word of warning, I'll probably speak in a variety of silly accents, be it Russian, British, Christopher Walken, Hank Hill, and pretty much anything else I can think of. These will probably be awful as well.

Feel free to add me on skype (toasterguru) or steam.

Ahoy, I'm the Dread Pirate Bananas, scourge of the highest seas, loved by tavern wenches, and feared by honest merchants across the skies.
I'm also first mate and head engineer of the Albatross, and it's rare you'll find me somewhere else.
She is the mightiest goldfish in all the oceans skies, piloted by the crazy good creative captain AdventureRuss, whose godawful, ram crazy, and generally suicidal tactics have netted us many wins (they never see it coming) and keeps me busy.

Due to the nature of my captain's piloting techniques, although I almost always play engineer, I have solid experience in piloting and gunning as necessary, as well at yelling angrily down the mic and making wicked awesome last second saves.

I also spent far too long drawing my avatar.

This is Captain Flynn of the Nutlocker, the newest crew of the game (probably).

Had our first win just a few hours ago. (YEY!)
Me and my colleagues enjoy this game, especially me because I like the idea of commandeering a ship (an airship in this instance).

Hoping to play more on my free time.

hello im aceofeagles i usually go by the steam user name ac30fspad35. my real name is isaac garcia. im 18 and a private pilot.

i always wanted to fly aircraft when i was young and loved flying. so it was already decided what i was going to be when i grow up. a pilot.
i had to put in long hours and days working on tests and different types of flights. and put in alot of hours. but i finally did it. i got my private pilot license. im currently working on my ifr license.

after all this of course i wanted to find a game that was about flying in the air. i tried alot of simulators fsx, global, war thunder, ect ect ect.
but then i found guns of icarus online. i thought it was the best thing since sliced bread :3 being able to command your own ship and its crew had that ring to it. and since i was a HUGE gamer. my mind was made up.

i have to say to the devs that you guys have made one hell of a fun game. metracritic can go suck it. this game is one of a kind and will always be a classic in flight games.

anywho ill be seeing you guys around.  cheers  :D

It is probably a bit late for this, since I have already been on the forums for a little while now, but oh well. Hi, I am Lanliss in pretty much any game I play. I have been on goio for, technically, about a year. I got really into it when I first got it on sale last year, and got up to 20 hours in less than a week. Of course, I have a habit of randomly dropping out of games for no real reason, so I have been out for pretty much all of the year I have owned it. Nothing happened to cause it, I just fell out of the skies I guess. I am back however, and it feels like I am here to stay. I have thrown on another 40 or so hours (wow, a whole SIXTY hours in game.) and plan to add many more. Been having fun playing around, and do not mind any of the changes that have been made. Probably because I was gone for so long, but it all feels new, so I do not need to relearn things I already had down. No one I know for me to play with, but I enjoy that. The random crews I get make the game fun, and it is great to just hop into random games with no previous connections. Makes running into the same person repeatedly a lot more fun and coincidental. I love the game, I love the community, and I will love sticking around for a while.

Lanliss, Captain of the Infallible

*Polite bow*

Hello admins, CAs, and fellow airship enthusiasts!

I'm Sarabelle Marlowe, Miss Marlowe for some, Ser to others. In game I enjoy gunning for my guild, occasionally fixing things when need be. I don't fly myself, that's left for my counterpart.

When I first heard of the game, Alistair walked into my room while I was reading and stood boldly, pointed his finger and loudly proclaiming. “My love, take the sky with me! For if you do, I'll buy you a shiny outfit.”

And thus, I started playing.

Though  to be honest, his presentation of said game would have worked without the bribery.

When we started sometime last year, we were feeling the after burn from playing games that required it to more of a job then a game (WoW, LoL, cough cough). We really wanted a game to play together, something with a more lighthearted feel that would grow into a fantastic world. We heard of Adventure Mode coming out, so figured we'd give what there was a try (we were sold on airship pirates). We joined a guild, and have stayed playing because of them and the community.

When I'm not playing games I enjoy making costumes, writing, artsy stuff and run tabletop rpgs with some of my guild mates. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this game goes. And for those I have not met yet, I look forward to seeing you in the skies!

Greetings all!

To say I'm new might be a bit of an understatement. A back story: I've been playing games for an exceptionally long time and started in the greater online scene with a game called Legends of Kesmai on AOL. I've been playing odds and ends since- ranging from console to pc, competitive to beer leagues (and yes those are a thing).

Ultimately, I stumbled across this game a few days ago while searching for new games that some friends from college and I could play; as we like to sit down every now and then just to catch up over some fun. I have to say, however, with the admittedly small amount of time I've been here, I'm already hooked. I started skulking through the forums when I knew I wanted to be more involved and after reading through threads and a few posts I am very excited to be joining this community and look forward to seeing everyone in the skies.

Expect to see me around a lot and, with any luck, the crew I'm bringing in will be as involved!

All the best fellow fliers!
Quintessince

Ps. I am all about connections so please please, reach out ask me questions of old games or just say hi so I can ask you about your gaming passion! I'll having information regarding streams and youtube uploads available once I upload my profile information!

Hey there, glad you're enjoying yourself in GOI, because that's not a thing we commonly hear. As others have already said and butchered the metaphor with: Icarus is a very niche game and may not tend to interest or please anyone easily. But I'm glad this ugly boy of a game could seduce you at the very least (*wink* anyone? Come awn, its just a metaphor)

In my year or so of playing this game, I have never truly introduced myself. I just show up where necessary (summoned using great fashion and magic to conquer all) or through randomness (pushing the play button and hoping for the best).

With reference to the forums, I have also never really introduced myself, only people who I have had the pleasure to fly with know me and so here it is:

Salutations, I am The Mann, Also known to some as Sempai, Capt'n Fabulous (an old name) and so on...

Captain of the Powerpuff  the most evil of Goldfishes in the land with a mighty fine party theme and some awesome tunes,

Bewilderment of The Nautilus, A concoction of evil in the form of a pyramidion drowned in the awesomeness of Rock as we plunge into battle.
and.
Master of the Senpai's Serendipity, a tower of fun which will not be noticed without killing.

Want to rule the skies?, join me, I will teach you. Want to claim the skies for yourself? Defend yourself from my usage of the helm as I will not be so easily defeated.

Taa daa!

Now commence the Rock! Let the Shattered Fortresses of my vessels fill the sky: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq8KRHpjeMA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq8KRHpjeMA)

I have flown with some well known people and even the best of them, made many friends, and I always bring joy and swedishness to my crew =) I also make forum posts that nobody cares about.

Hello all!

I've been a long-time player of GoI Online, and absolutely adore the game. I also jumped on the bandwagon very quickly when Muse needed to kickstart the Adventure Mode.

I love competitive and cooperative/competitive games like Artemis, TF2, Natural Selection 2, and so on, but even more than I love the gameplay, I frequently find myself engaged in roleplay in almost any game I spend time in.

Hold on to your cargos and don't leave your helm unattended!

I've owned GoI Online for a while, but just recently got into it thanks to a friend of mine who plays as well.

G'day folks, swabbies and powder monkeys!

I am Erom Gary.

A fresh new vet out of all oldschools hanging around in this pleasant forum. I enjoy this game alot as a previous WoW (World of Warcraft)-player currently taking a long vacation. I play with The Skyborne for pure fun and occasionally participate in events of GoIO. I always dress spring (and forest) green on all three classes and love piloting a spire and a squid whenever I get the chance.
You'll encounter me sometimes as a tryhard, a happy/kind person, a mad lunatic, a talkative person and of course, a Shy Guy.

May your munker be flawless in battle and I'll see you around in Lobbies of Icarus!  8)

Hey everyone, my name is Mr.Sleeves and xXMrSleevesXx in-game. I'm really new to this game, I've known about it for more than a year but only recently bought it. I've only played for a few days and it's been a blast! The community seems awesome and the gameplay itself is great! I've only really played as a gunner, but will probably try the other two as well. I'm still getting the hang of the basics, but can't wait to improve! My favorite light gun is the gatling gun (the whirlgun or something), and my favorite heavy gun is the missile launcher with two Dragon heads (hwacha I think?)

Hopefully I'll see some of you in the skies  :D

Like many people now are saying, its pretty great that this community hasn't died. I bought this game a long time ago and am just now getting back into it. Always nice to see thriving community like this.

In-game I enjoy piloting most rounds in a Pyramidion, though I do run many rounds as a Gunner or Engineer. I don't feel like committing so I don't join clans if you're wondering. In real life, I'm a transgender girl who has a fascination with writing and art (I love the lore to this game by the way). I do the read good. Anyways, if you think my voice sounds weird that's why. If you have questions I'll answer, but other than that, see you all in-game!  :)
