Hey all! Info about the open qualifier!
Week 8 is a open qualifier tournament, in which any team in any standing may compete for a position in the week 9 finale. The overall format of this tournament may change dramatically depending on the number of participating teams, though. More details on each season’s Week 8 is posted on the forums in advance. Either three or six teams will advance from Week 8.
All teams are invited to sign up for Week 8. They don't have to have participated in the Cogs previously in order to enter- the roster is open to all! Teams currently in the top four positions(Raft, Brood, Paddling, and Sky Invading Rhinos) don't participate in week 8- they're already qualified for Week 9.
Everyone who is interested needs to give me their roster ASAP in order for me to make the brackets. It is because of this that I will need to be strict with late sign-ups. Friday at 11:59am Eastern will be the cutoff. Friday at noon- eastern time. Any later and clans wouldn't know who or where they were playing the qualifier.
Send me your roster HERE on the forums via a message. That way, I have everything nicely organized and I can't lose anything. Don't comment it, because there's always a chance it could get buried if a conversation takes off.
Week 8 nutshell info:
Positions 1a, 2a, 2b, 2c are all getting into Week 9.
Everyone who wants a chance to play in the grand final needs to sign up for Week 8.
Week 8 will be single elimination.
Brackets will be decided sometime after noon on Friday.
I'll do my best to answer further questions in the comments below. Otherwise, congratulations, Raft, Brood, Paddling, and Sky Invading Rhinos! And good luck to everyone else!
BRACKETS <-- so fancy
The rosters are in, and the brackets were generated. http://challonge.com/zpn1g98e
The Gentlemen and Wolfpack will be the first match of the day, and they'll face off on Battle on the Dunes
The victor of the previous match will go up against Flying Dutchmen in the Northern Fjords
The final match of the day will have Cake and BFS fisticuffs it out on Canyon Ambush
Two winners will come out of Week 8, and they will go on to play in Week 9. Best of luck, everyone!

Thanks!

-
Should be
-
The Wolfpack Will be there.
-
Ok, sent a roster to Cullen. BFS will be rockin' and rolling for saturday.
-
You know what's over-rated?
Fire extinguishing tools. I mean really. Mallet/spanner/buff all the way.
In completely unrelated news: Cake's gonna make a grand appearance!
-
I'll send the Roaster when I have a good hold on who will be on crew and who can sub. thanks.
Also, can you let me know when you plan on starting Saturday? in the Cogs I have played at 1PM EST and 4PM EST. This will determine if a clan member can join.
Thanks
Rutger.

Every cog in the history of Cogs has been 4pm est

Well sammie, that is nice, but I played at 11AM PST as a Falconeer. that is great and all.... so please be a little more respectful.
Thank you however, in your own way, letting me know that it is 4.
-
You sure it wasn't another event? The setup for Cogs and most other events on that day usually happen around the same time. Think the only one to go outside this was that Spire event.
-
kinda dissappointing that already being in the cog tournament isnt a ticket to the finals.
we have put alot of work into getting in the cogs.
It doesn't matter though, since we will be starting at the back again we have more oppenents to kill and more souls to claim.
Beware, The Dutchmen is coming.
-
We, The Gentlemen, shall drink our tea and vanquish our foes in glorious battle!

Thanks for all of the sent-in rosters so far! There's a couple hours left if any other clans are still interested in signing up.
This series of matches will hopefully start at 4pm eastern tomorrow. As for the caster and stream location, I'm finalizing the info, and will post it here when I have the definite answer.
Once we pass the deadline for signups, I'll randomize a single elimination bracket, as well as the maps that'll be played, and post it on this thread by modifying the main message. That way, it won't get buried under multiple pages. The maps'll be the same ones available in the previous weeks: Battle on the Dunes, Canyon Ambush, Duel at Dawn, Northern Fjords, Paritan Rumble, Labyrinth.
Lemme know if I forgot to mention or address something, and I'll comment as soon as I can.

The brackets and maps have been put on the main message!
Also, the matches will be streamed on the main twitch channel http://www.twitch.tv/gunsoficarus by Sammy B.T. and Charon.

According to the rules thread, 7 teams are supposed to participate in Week 9.
Finale (Week 9)
Week 9 is the Finale, the final week of a season. Set up to include either seven or ten teams, depending on Week 8’s format, teams face off in a single-elimination grand tournament, including a match for third place.
Seeds #1 - #4 will be claimed by the teams in the Champion and Challenger Cogs
Seeds #5 - #7 (Or - #10) will be claimed by those that qualified for inclusion in the Finale during Week 8.
So as to keep within the Cogs format, shouldn't three teams from Week 8 qualify?

Actually, it is possible that was it. but I think we flew in a CoGs that day too or something. Fellow mates also were thinking it was at 11 and weird.
-
Best of luck to all the competitors!

Congrats to the Gents and BFS! We'll see you next week! That was an insane series of matches... Wolfpack, Cake, and Flying Dutchmen put up great fights!
The final scores can be seen here. http://challonge.com/zpn1g98e
For the sake of ending the tournament in this program, there had to be a victor, so I picked the first option- both the Gents and BFS qualified and did not face off against each other.
