Title: [SIR] Sky Invading Rhinos (Eu)
Post by: Wundsalz on August 27, 2013, 02:06:14 pm
Stomp, Stomp!

We’re a bunch of rhinos that got tired by the leisure life in the savannas of Burren where there’s nothing else to stomp, but dust and scrubs.  We seek for adventurous lives – traveling through the skies like falcons with the pace of an arrow shot by one of the famous merry men– dreaded like bullies and worshiped like a huddle of floating noodles.
Less fortunate for us, unlike ducks, rhinos don’t grow wings. Hence we needed to obtain access to a mechanical aviation vehicle made by man. We’ve heard of a couple of possibilities, but none of them seemed tempting as they either involved signing up for flight squadrons who serve another man’s cause or even outright trading away ones soul. Our Journey seemed to have ended before it even started.
More fortunate for us, one day a merchant fleet happened to ditch near our pouring basin. Apparently candles on a birthday cake have caused a fire underneath the deck of one of their ships. We’ve seized the chance of this coincidence by starting a rambitious and successful attempt to stomp those pitiful merchants in order to take their ships.
Now we can finally fulfill our dream and fly North, following Polaris to see the aurora borealis over the Firnfield.

We’re a group of people who have played together for a while and we’d now like to enter the competitive scene.  Rather than sticking to static fleet builds, we plan to utilize the rich varieties of viable ship builds GoIO provides  to its full extend with an adaptive play style while keeping focused on efficient ship combinations – we want to win our matches.
Phelan and I plan to pilot the ships of our fleet to get our rambition started. We’ve also already managed to win a couple of excellent crew members for our cause. Still we lack some skilled players to fill up our ranks. As we want to maintain a familiar atmosphere where everyone knows everyone, we plan to keep our member count low. Hence we want to be a bit picky when it comes to accepting new members to ensure that we can stay competitive.
That being said, we’re not only interested in highly skilled players who have played hundreds of matches already. If you’re a new player who’s able to pick up the game quickly, don’t hesitate to contact us!  We’re eager to teach talented players interested in the competitive scene from the start. As communication is an essential element of GoIO, we require our members to bring a microphone and being able to speak English.
In case you’re interested in joining us, please drop a note here and contact Phelan or me ingame! Then we can fly some rounds together to see whether we’re a good match or not.

EU based clan? Awesome, I hope to be flying with you guys soon, if you'll allow a crewmember from another clan to fill spots for you from time to time. :D
Always nice to see people with reasonable times in mind. :P

Thanks for the hearty welcome!
We'd like to participate in tomorrows cog match and already got 8 people. However I didn't manage to talk back to one of them. Hence I can't be sure that he'll be online tomorrow evening. So I'd gladly accept your offer, Wilkinson (or the help of any other clan who can spare a player for tomorrows cogs match).

That was one awesome start into the cogs we had yesterday. I'd like to thank Frankenstorm, Ariden and Rajlon who helped us out and allowed us to assemble a last minute roster for the match. Also I'm happy to announce Rajlon and Ariden discovered their true nature during our first match - apparently they aren't human, but rhinos like us. Furthermore we've recruited our first non-european member, Boneses from the USA. Welcome to the crew!
Our ranks are filling up and I hope we don't have to rely on external help to setup a roster for the upcoming match against BFS. That beeing said, we still lack another gunner who is firm i using a wide range of weapons and heavy ones in particular. Also we could probably use another able engineer. So in case you're a rhino in disguise matching one of these criteria, feel free to contact us!

Ey dere.

I's got a taste fur looooads o' dakka dakka. Gimme a gatling or a Manticore rokkit battery an' i'm yer orc. I ain't no good wid those...those mortars an' uther finnicky thingies.
Flew with a bunch o' Junker captains half a year ago. Dual gatlings in da lower decks an' a wrench in me paw kept dat engine runnin' while da captain poured stewed grots into it.
Lot's o' smoke, speed and freakkin' havoc.

For those less orky. I'm not exactly a veteran but i follow orders routinely. I'm Norwegian so i have a accent when talking into the mic. I'm rather quiet and only speak up if necessary.
I heavily prefer being a gunner but can be an engineer in a pinch.
Can't handle weapons with lot's of drop. But i'm good with the gatling and Manticore.
I have a talent for making longrange shots with the Manticore/Artemis. When up close i don't spray and pray with the Manticore - Controlled bursts.
I know how to keep a Junker mainengine running while crewing the lower deck guns no matter how much tar/moonshine you use.

I can tell you one thing about myself and the crews i've been with that will impress most. I was on a Junker with a crew i had known for a week or so.
The captain unknowingly had his mic switched off.
Even if we didn't hear the orders he gave we did what was necessary even so. He only realised the mic was off when the battle was almost over since we responded to each situation so quickly.
We did our jobs so well that we got 3-4 kills each time we got shot down.

By the way...which ship do you guys prefer. As you might have guessed i'm very specialised...but i can adapt.

Hey Spleenslitta,

I'm sorry that I didn't respond to your ingame PMs earlier today (or rather doing so too late, when you've been offline again). We've been busy preparing for our cog match.
I've added you to my friendlist so we can meet and play together within the next days. Also, if you spot a Rhino ingame, don't hesitate to join him! I'm looking forward to play with you.

We've got a weekly training session now - Wednesday 21:00-23:00 CEST ( 3pm-5pm EST). So, in case any clan is looking for a scrim in the middle of the week, we can most likely get something started.

After we've had a break for roughly a month, we're looking for 2-3 new members to fill our ranks.
We plan to participate in sunday rumbles and in the cogs on a regular basis again.

I'm looking for a competetive clan who's members aren't funeral-serious about themselves and are willing to help a quick-learning player master the game. SIR seems a good match, so that's why I'm applying.

A few things about me:

I'm a 24 year old IT and psychology student from Poland. I don't have any regular hours when I'm on - sometimes I play in the early morning before classes, sometimes after classes, and sometimes deep in the AM. So far I've had the most fun behind the steering wheel as a commander, though I've only been playing since December and only managed to get level 4. Working hard on those achievements though! Also, am more than willing to switch to engineer or gunner if necessary.

I like analyzing the metagame - learning health figures, speed differences, damage multipliers, gun/ammo synergies... knowing is half the battle and I like using any edge I can to win. It's why I'm interested in playing on a competetive level, though I could definetly use some pointers from more experienced GoIO players.

Communication isn't a problem. My written English is, well, judge for yourself, spoken English is decent enough I think. Obviously I've got a mic and a fast Internet connection to support it.

So, yeah. ACCEPT ME!

I'll try and catch you guys in-game so we can have some matches together and get to know each other. :)
