Title: Artistic screenshot gallery
Post by: Gryphos on July 30, 2013, 03:03:51 am
Welcome good sirs and madams to the Artistic screenshot gallery. So, while the regular screenshot gallery can be for screenshots of a generally amusing nature, including things like hilarious glitches and easter eggs, this is a place to present screenshots of a wholly artistic nature, along with a meaningful and impressive sounding caption, like a philosopher's quote (I play a lot of Civ V) or an overly alliterated sentence.

I have already presented several to the standard gallery. Here is a catch up of my pieces.

A beautiful sunset silhouette of a soaring Pyramidion.

What evils lurk within the eyrie of this forgotten city look hungrily down at wounded prey.

Geese, being mere animals, have no understanding of the concept of battles or wars. But they still know, like all beasts know, that where fire goes, bad things follow.

I'm afraid I have not the resources for high-res images. I literally just take a screenshot.

Hah, haven't seen that rock before. So... In the past there where once giant flying jellyfish ruling the skies? Yeah, seems about right
Title: Re: Artistic screenshot gallery
Post by: Gryphos on August 01, 2013, 01:41:41 pm
It's right below the southeastern point on Flayed hills.
From what I'm able to discern it appears that there was an airship, which became an airship, there was a jellyfish, then a ship and a jellyfish... turned into a jellyfish and a ship. The ship then became a giraffe, while another jellyfish, few guys playing football, a kite and yet another ship looked on.
? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ? ? ?
No idea.

I hate the idea of sky jellies. I hate sea jellies, but sky jellies would be even worse *shiver*

Pterodactyls vs. Airships? Sound kinda like one of those low-budget disaster movies on SyFy.

No, this isn't just for pure screenshots. So feel free to add as many filters or whatnots as you like, so long as the original image was a screenshot direct from game.

Great images by the way, loving the general style.

Nice pictures, Spoon.

Judging by the appearance of the spyglass, I'm guessing those were taken... Some time between April-August 2012?

That Pyra-pic would be my background, if you'd allow it. ^^

Go for it, it should be 1280x720 or around there, and I'm pretty sure you can download it straight. That being said if you're having some difficulties I can send it to you.

Cheers, for the compliments, Gryph and Smollet. I've been trying to recreate that Goldfish style- I tried to get the same effect as SFIV's opening, which was half-painted.

EDIT: I'm going to do some different colour versions of the Pyra, mostly because I want it as my own background :) Not sure how easy it is to implement on Windows, but I can set mine to change every couple of seconds- slow colour changing in the picture, if I do it right.

I'm deciding to try something a bit new from now on, in that I will attempt to tell a sort of story, told through images and accompanying quotes. Enjoy.

I'd probably clip a shot of the galleons meeting up in Duel at Dawn in the Aerodrome vid with the clouds rolling in. That shot had I think 3 takes, maybe 4. Then it just came together like that. Filming it ya just see it happening, then you go...ooo oo ooooooooo!!

Was some combat scene moments where I set up in a location quickly then hoped something would unfold and it did. Really didn't have to work too hard with them. The game is so good with screens and vids. Cept for the Yeshan 3 ship merging scene. It was originally shot with the Mobula coming from the right and the Pyra from the left but the draw in distance on the Mobula was so bad that we swapped it so it would appear coming out of the cloud instead.

I like the screenshots and especially the captions. However, one stuck out to me as being perhaps unintentionally funny. "The outcome of a battle is determined by its participants." - that's some Sun Tzu stuff right there. ;)

Just kidding, good work! :)
