Title: Phoenix Claw and Kerosene
Post by: Spud Nick on May 31, 2013, 09:40:10 am
I think the phoenix claw needs a small boost in order to balance out the pilot tools. A lot of pilots have figured out that they can use kerosene to turn the ship faster while damaging there engines less. Making phoenix claw unnecessary.

Phoenix claw is a great tool and doesn't need a buff.

Kerosene is ridiculous, op and should be altered.

I can't remember a version of the game where claw kerosine and moonshine were all viable at the same time. There's a bit of overlap and careful balancing there that needs to be dialed in a bit more in my opinion.

I was thinking the damage per sec should be switched. Right now kerosene does less damage to the engines than phoenix claw.

I see what you mean, but honestly I think kerosene does far too little damage as it is.

I think the claw is just right, but kerosene needs a makeover.

The turning speed with kerosene is the real problem I think. Do people still take phoenix claw to turn faster? and what beneficent does it have over kerosene?

Last I checked claw does more damage per second to engines than kerosine. I use claw/moonshine for snap turns. Kerosine I reserve for CP maps.

The turning speed, the low damage to engines and the ability to pull a full speed turn extremely tightly all make Kerosene way too good.  I'm not sure why no one has started a thread on it, but Kerosene is OP.

Heck even when I'm making ramming builds, I'll often take moonshine and Kerosene since Kerosene only turns about 5% slower than the claw but with far less damage and many more benefits.

I think every captain tools should be scaled on the kerosene models of benefit/cost. I really don't like the fact that others tools damages so heavily my ships parts, improving all the other tools would makes up for a more nervous game and tactics. That's just me though.
