looks like i get to start this one off, so here is my contribution.
i know im crap compaired to the guys over at muse and my editing / croping skill is as questionable as my flying but f**k it....
im gona go play some more now
-
keep em coming... I wish I could draw as good as that. Alas, I'm stuck to stick figures :P
-
I'm with shinkurex, I make some amazing stick figures. Talk of the battalion I was, with my stick figure brigades and poorly drawn battle plans done with crayons and magic markers.
So you keep them coming, one of us needs to have some kind of talent!
-
so basicly im going to have to fill this thread myself?
-
Oh if only i had more time, right now my "art" is stuck in the pit :V
-
I would spend more time being creative if I were not playing the game during all my free time.
-
so basicly im going to have to fill this thread myself?
I wouldn't say that... You just might have to jump start it some more... If you want to see some stick figures, I'd be more than happy to oblige :P
-
i wouldnt underestimate the power of stick figures
-
ha... Alright I will come up with something
-
*will probably lurk through this topic once in a while to see the fancy art*
-
my avatar on her day off
-
this game has a severe lack of pipes, so i made some.
also a costume in there somewhere
-
ha, i love how both these concepts have smoking pipes in them, Lenz just showed me a few hours ago a pipe he is working on :P
-
good, ill be sure to buy it as soon as its available
-
this game has a severe lack of pipes, so i made some.
also a costume in there somewhere
I think that the white whaler is my favorite.

I want that pipe!

must say im quite dissapointed, i took some time off to do other things and when i get back this thread is still a bone yard.
common guys grab a pencil its not that hard

I did a little doodling at work the other day. I am soooo out of practice, though. I've had an idea for a drawing for a while but I just cannot get proportions correct right now. ><
-
I bet I could come up with another Stick figure drawing if needed, but idk if you guys are ready for that again :P
-
I have some ideas, but as for currently a virus is blocking me from using SAI on my computer.
-
I had some artistic talent as a child that developed some what in High school, but I never put the hours and hours and hours into practice to improve it.
So now I write, because a picture paints a thousand words, but you only get 50 to describe it in.
-
I can draw if this damn video game didn't eat up all my free time. I can program and make games too if GOI were not so enthralling.
-

This. I basically haven't progressed in artistic talent since my freshman year of college.
-
well, if it makes you guys feel better I'm more interested in the imagination side of things, I'm not expecting every person here to pull out a Mona Lisa or something, hell i don't even expect that from myself. But i am interested in what ideas you can bring out through art that are swirling around in your heads,
ie, i'd rather see a really cool design rendered as a stick figure, then a boring design rendered like a god of artists drew it (mostly cause i'd feel horribly jealous but that's besides the point). . . worst thing is if i was in your position i'd be drooling to post some fan art . .but i don't technically think anything i do Guns of Icarus related is fan art even if i'm doing it for the fun of it :X
-
so your saying your not a fan of guns of icarus?
ill get around to making some more and hopefully it isnt crap but right now iv got other things to do
-
Fine! I'll get my busy little fingers working on something. Most likely will do with a whale. A flying one.
-
I don't know why you guys wanna hurt the sky whales so much. =(

I want to make that my backround picture on my computer ^

Awesome! Muse is going to love this. Keep un spreading the word about Kickstarter so we can get these!

Those are some pretty fantastic pencil skills.
-
hunting the archwhale
Man these whales are getting better and better. All we have to do is raise $1.5 Million and Muse will have to take note!
-
the picture makes me want to not hunt whales, but to live with them, and become them
-
This thread just got more awesome than I can handle.

Fine, I made a picture, my fine ass finger painting skills on my iPad.

It is super hard to draw a line when you can't quite tell where the cursor is going to be. So I settled for simple shapes and elementary school perspective, flat!
On another note, this iPad paint app is super powerful. Got all sorts of crazy stuff on it.
-
Ok I decided to try and put some effort into actually using this app with my finger painting skills. I got a little carried away with the terrain and sort of forgot the direction I was taking it in. It's not finished yet, suppose to be a picture of canyons in the Burren from the wheel.

I dont understand the controversy to making this a reality
-
I dont understand the controversy to making this a reality
In all seriousness it's a matter of keeping the setting. Sky whales COULD fit as Lord Dick Tim mentioned, as the mermaids of this steampunk world. I'm not sure I'd really want them to actually be alive in the game, though NPC's explaining away missing ships as sky whale attacks would fit like a glove.
-
I dont understand the controversy to making this a reality
It started as a joke during the launch party as something I blurted out in the chat feed, it got noticed, I believe goofy enthusiasm got rolling as paper plates with press x for sky whales started appearing on the feed. And I just kept pushing it for the lols, before you know it lots of people are tickled by the experience and it mutated into what it is now. It was also around the time boarding was really getting shot down, so it gave a ridiculous rally point for everyone.
So keep those whale pictures rolling!

So wandering the Internet I decide to look up old oil paintings of military officers. Find one I like, decide I'll try to freehand it (you have no idea how many times I drew this mans right eye and forhead), before I gave up completely and left the eye a squiggle.
Now how to make it more diesel punk?
-
monocle, a top hat, and smoke towers with lots of gears here and there.
-
You should of seen the braiding on this mans collar, I can't recreate that with my finger, way to much detail. But a monocle, could swing that. My artistic skill though never progressed from mimicking what I can see, so I'll have to find a good picture of a monocle.
-
I see, I find it easier to write things then to draw them.
-
You can get a wacom drawing stylus for the iPad if you'd prefer that for doing detail like the braided collar. It is pretty cheap too (unlike every other wacom product =P).
-
alternatively you could use a pencil

A bit more gruff: Sand and sun will age the face. Add crows feet to the corners of the eyes. Cogs never hurt a uniform when you're trying for this kind of thing.
-
A women covers her face in a Chan-Ning market. Just a sketch, still experimenting with how much I can do with just my good ole finger stylus. Wish a pencil would work, has to be able to conduct electricity to work with the iPad screen. That and using pencil and paper is icky for me, I erase lines way to often.
Really happy with the crane on the dress, was testing how much detail I could put on something, was just gonna leave the squiggles.
Maybe we should have a break away thread for different locales?

''Maybe we should have a break away thread for different locales''
lol i probbly couldnt post anything in there if we did have one, since 90% of what i draw would be inappropriate for this site.
anyway this thread needs filling up some more so splitting it off in to other threads right now would probbly be bad
-
Arg, your a slave driver Ccrack! Ok, working on another chang one, I think. Maybe do a landscape, I dunno.
-
so we are moveing away from the whales now?
so what should i draw then if its not tits or whales
-
tits on whales, of course
-
actually there's whole websites dedicated to chubby chasers, let's go with overcomplicated devices meant for simple tasks

So I'm thinking of man-portable radios with receivers placed on the body that a cog-crypto piece could fit in. It would encrypt traffic over the radio according to the specific design of the cog. Could have an "A" set, a "B" set, so on and so forth. Might be fun to have a sketch at.
-
So your mention of a radio broke my brain when I realized that none of the helmets have one attached to them.
I looked at some old photos of flight helmets and was incorporating it into another sketch. This is maybe a few minutes into the idea

But what your talking about is more like a PRC-19 large sized with a crazy 8? Would this be mounted like a harness, and the person would look down and fiddle with the dials and what not?

ABSOLUTELY. Maybe even slightly scaled down in size, just with a limited range, but that's pretty much exactly the idea.

I'm amused that very few people here will even know what we are talking about. Hoorah.

to the Google!.... I think I know what you're talking about.... not sure about the crazy 8 thing though :P
-
I'm liking all these random scenes.
The simplicity of my current skill level allows me to make pictures fairly rapidly. That and I'm all digital doesn't take nearly as much skill as Ccracks pencil drawings.
I tend not to like the strictly diesel punk approach to every facet of the world, I like to think that some of the old world still exists to some degree. Hmm... what to do next.

Oh how about someone looking out in the distance on the railing of an airship.

I'll try it, maybe some scenery in the background.

If anybody's wondering, I modified LDT's post to fix a broken quote. Nothing more than that.

Thanks!

You're welcome.
Just fixed a broken quote in BdrLine's post as well. You guys can certainly manage visual art, but simple coding seems to escape you :P

Always willing to help.
I actually write 95% of my posts on my phone, which is why you won't find me writing walls of text in arguments. I typed up my entire engineering guide on this Nokia, and don't even talk to me about selecting things to format them.

Can I stop making poorly drawn pictures of birds now? Are you satisfied by my labours yet Ccrack?!

quite, i just wish there was more people willing to participate

Well, good sir, I notice a distinct lack of ducks in this collection of birds.

I'll make a duck coat of arms then tonight, what faction?

Sgt. Spoon you are a sharp eye and keen witted individual. Wasn't sure if the dual purpose and play on words would get noticed. Ahhh, English, you are an amazing language.

I am now imagining a Goldfish using its fins to smash into infantry. I always knew those things were sinister.
Pretty cool sketch. The only glimpses of ground combat I saw were in that original GoI demo, you have to wonder what role these airships played in the war. They can't be airplane killers or else there'd be no point in airplanes attacking airships. We're already acquainted with their utility in airship-to-airship combat, but if the only reason you're building airships is to kill other airships why not just send planes to kill their expensive airships and just not bother? Troop and supply transport is a pretty obvious use but it's a little boring if its weapons are only meant to serve as deterrents, that'd mean some other machination is the real star of the GoI world.
I'm guessing they normally serve as megabombers, capable of carrying much heavier payloads than these primitive airplanes, capable of leveling entire cities not with one giant flash as with a nuke, but with many, many fires. Weapons of mass terror, dropping horrible chemicals and fires to destroy not only buildings but torture those poor souls trapped inside, so that they scream and traumatize any unlucky survivors so that they may spread horror stories and destroy their nation's morale.
Every fight in Skirmish is another attempt to both prevent this happening to your people and to inflict this suffering on others.
-
I know they could be like a quick sweeper on a low pass, sending out hellhound shots down below while flame throwers bake the earth or chain guns shred infantry ranks.
Anyways, random scenes where asked for, I think this counts. Ah, and a salute for the person who knows what actual picture most of this scene comes from.

Floating support by fire or artillery battery platforms.
Following the reduction of enemy airships, or in the event of their absence otherwise, these airships could be utilized to provide indirect fires, or large bore fires in direct lay, all across the battlefield. This could be useful in reducing enemy defenses, obstacles, and vehicles, but also incredibly useful for lane proofing (mine clearing) operations. Depending on the state of communications during this period, they could also drop a comm line to a rear element, which would allow the rear element to speak directly to the airship itself and relay ground traffic regarding the tactical situation.
Having the ability to provide these sorts of continuous suppression would support ground troops IMMENSELY, as they wouldn't have to worry about getting their own internal support weapons to key terrain in the expeditious fashion that they would otherwise have to. Having this sort of firepower screaming over your shoulder means you advance UNDER your suppression, and you're on top of the enemy before they've really got a chance to orient themselves. Left unchecked, this sort of support could easily end a battle before it began.
It could also supply illumination using the mounted flare gun, in the event of a night assault. Used correctly, these flares could be utilized to illuminate the enemy AND destroy their ability to see in the dark.
The ability of larger vessels to carry smaller aircraft could be used to conduct fast, hit and run style raids on facilities. Depending on the method of insertion, the airships themselves could be the release point for a raid, as well.
-
And that is why I have the goldfish escorting a pair of blimps while the lines advance under a field of fire.
I imagine well concealed or small, mobile mortar fire would be in high use in this kind of fighting, seeing how each ship would have a sphere of influence that could knock out large emplacements at considerable range.
Weaponry focused on taking them down from the ground would likely be limited to fixed position, mobility of ground to air defense sacrificed in favor of air superiority with controlled lanes of access.
A battle with matched sides would be incredibly violent, fast, and likely inconclusive if neither side could achieve total air superiority.
-
Definitely. That would turn nasty fast.
I'd imagine they would try to salvage the weaponry from downed airships to mount them as anti-airship emplacements, like you mentioned above. Wouldn't expect that combat life expectancy to be above 30 seconds from the moment they open up, either.
Saluted!
-
Oooo... Could you imagine a downed galleon in the canyons, it's guns hidden under tarps on the ruined ship as another ship flys low under the cloud cover just in range?
Dammit I need some screen shots tomorrow so I can draw this.
-
I bet that would be the common use, it fits the setting so well. Converting the hull into an impromptu bunker, the guns would probably work just fine as ground artillery with some repairs and salvaged parts from those that can't work anymore. It'd actually explain a lot of the extraneous parts on these ships, they're there EXPLICITLY to be used when a ship is shot down so that it can be converted into a bunker.
-
I'm imagining the wreck/bunker being positioned in the shade of that giant hull in the Burren, getting ready to commence the ambush.
I should also note that I'd imagine getting dropped in the Burren would suck.
-
I'm actually quite surprised there aren't any mentions of chemical warfare. Nothing signals the decay of society like mustard gas and covering your face with a piss-stained rag, you know these airships won't want to be carrying traditional explosives when the cargo hold is taking so much fire from literally all directions. Salt the land, poison their water, no wonder the world is such a shithole by the time the game starts.
The dual nature of these airships, cargo transports and heavy weapon platforms and bombers, bringers of both life and death, should have a profound impact on culture. I can imagine your average Joe in a warzone just fucking hating everyone associated with airships, looking out in the distance and seeing the silhouette of an airship and not knowing whether it's there to send supplies or kill everyone in the most horrible way imaginable. I can so easily imagine characters getting a God complex flying these machines, knowing that who lives and dies is entirely their choice, and others half going mad knowing that the people they help are probably going to just murder someone just as horribly.
-
We have a dark outlook on this world, and I agree with everything you said helmic.
-
So I have no patience and I took a screen shot from the web along with one of some iron sights off the side of a ship and a bunch of ones of canyons from the bottom, cobbled it somewhat lazily together and here is where I'm at, the color sampling phase.
The squid has a lot of stuff on it by the way.
-
@Helmic: Makes pretty perfect sense there, if you ask me. Imagine what would be done to any crew member caught by ground forces.
@Lord Dick Tim: Your picture is torturing me. I want to see this ambush go down.
-
Could you imagine it? They would have sound powered radios strung along the wreck, with dust covered tarps over the guns, charcoal smudged over all the bright works and would keep the guns in a fixed position until an enemy ship entered multiple vectors at once and Poof! Off come the tarps as firing teams unleash a hail of fire at point blank range from multiple locations in a tight spot of the canyon.
-
All dialed in with makeshift T&Es, ambush kicked off by a closed-bolt weapon, with all open bolt systems following directly afterward. Fireteams with man-portable rocket systems engaging from the cliffside, with a dynamic rope laid in for immediate egress. Sharpshooters on the deck aiming for manned positions, but it's a deceptively far shot, so much of their time will be spent ranging out the target with their individual small arms. Maybe some asshole puts a flare into the side of the vessel in an attempt to blind the pilot.
GRUNTS OF ICARUS EXPANSION PACK
-
Ah chem weapons would be quite spectacular. I remember some cool ideas on the old forum about laying clouds of poison gas around the map. Hrm, I guess we have tar cloud but it's not as cool.
Nice infantry picture btw
-
I have a picture in my head of a carronade-squid flying above the enemy ranks wiping out plantoons.
And those hwatchas.
Actually, airships seem like they would be built to kill ground troops effectively.
-
It would probably be their initial design, to be honest.
-
I was thinking about a heavy flack galleon providing artillery support for ground troops. Considering how non existent the road network is in the game world, I can see how airships could replace road transportation as the preferred method of moving big guns from battle field to battle field. The infantry can still walk since the human foot was designed to overcome rough terrain, supported by airship supply drops of course.
This would be an interesting addition to adventure mode, specialty air to ground weapons that would be less effective against fast moving air targets but would have range/power to engage ground targets.
-
I've been thinking of doing a story since we met Lord Dick Tim in the Tavern back there, called "Hell at Angel's Head". It would be a community operation against brigand forces that have overtaken a "Glintspire" at Angel's Head, a large mountain in the lower right hand corner of the map.
We were thinking of an airship insertion about 500 meters out using a squid, with a pair of galleons and goldfish/pyra escorts masking their profile with the terrain while a foot-mobile team splashed with a diesel powered twin engine raft. They'd use this to hit the beach at the foot of angel's head, and then conduct movement to the top of Angel's Head while the Galleons moved into position to provide fire support on any target marked by flare. They'd be using these flare-revolvers to mark targets on the way up, and semi-automatic rifles to engage the enemy. Once at the top, they'd retake the glintspire (basically an awesome lighthouse) and use it to bring the supporting ships in.
Also in the area would be enemy mining operations that could be seized in follow on missions, or destroyed with explosives.
I just haven't really put the time in to make the thing a reality.

Guns of Icarus has always has a hot rod vibe to it. Crazy engineers make awesome vehicles out of whatever scrap they find then pit them head to head. So in honor of GOI and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth I present "Rat Fink on a Squid."

Tim, you've totally got to do a steampunk "Rosie the Riveter" rallying women to work on squids or something.
-
I was border and mucking around with different stuff in photoshop with the GoIO logo. This came up looking kinda cool.
-
I love the reworked graphic!
Hmm, steampunk rosie, a Arashi one maybe, my chosen people. Been recently coming up with slurs and language idioms sincewe both love chang ning dog eater so much.
-
Ooo, it's nice to see lots of new stuff in this thread! I'm going to had to do something new myself soon I think!
-
Ccrack, Lord Dick Tim, I just want you to know that you made me do this.
-
I giggled in a very unmanly fashion when I saw the goldfish in the bowl.
Making my wife pose for the rosie the riveter one for the dimensions, if I can get her to stand still long enough without making a goofy face in the camera.
She's very tiny, so it's going to be a rather thin boned rosie lol.
-
Goldfish in a fish bowl=win. Super awesome.
On that note; besides humans, aren't whales only threat in the ocean Giant Squids....
Wonder what threatens sky whales...
-
That is very nice Shukketsushi. I wonder what they are eating, squid flakes perhaps?
-
D'aww
-
well its not goi related and i havnt finished it (and probbly wont bother to)
i thought i might aswell post something since iv not done so for a while
-also how do you get the image to appear in the thread like that? all mine are some little attachment thingymagiggs that you need to click on
-
That's some damn fine skills Ccrack
to get the image in the thread you can click the image copy, the URL of the picture and put it in between [img][ /img] (note that I put an extra space not to active it) code
as such
[img]https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=126.0;attach=287;image[ /img]
(though the other people use various websites to upload their images, for example imgur or imageshack, where as you upload it directly as an attachment with the forums and thus you get the attachment under the post. You can still post it regularily this way though)
EDIT: and Hamster, that's one nasty rat +1

Hello, a quick fanart made this week end : )
-
That's awesome looking!
-
Thank's ! : )
-
That's really awesome. I want to play on that map now.
-
Love the color and lightning of that picture. Reminds me a bit of Mos Eisley
-
Thank's a lot :)
-
Can I steal that? I have a rotating bunch of desktop backgrounds and I'd very much like to have that as one of them. It's awesome. I saw it first on facebook but didn't realise it was made by a community member, it looks like promotional artwork.
-
Hi, thank's for your interest !
I don't make this kind of stuff (wallpaper ect...) but why not : )
I hope this link will work (it's a 1920/1022) of course don't use this in a commercial way !
http://hpics.li/31a15ed (http://hpics.li/31a15ed)
Have a nice day !

Your art's damned impressive, though I'd suggest using http://imgur.com/
They're good and you can give direct links to JUST the photo, no webpage surrounding it.
Anyways, keep up the art man!
-
Love the color and lightning of that picture. Reminds me a bit of Mos Eisley
I second this.
Great work and thanks for the wallpaper!
-
Some rough sketches of airships with a steampunk/Guns of Icarus style.
-
An airship more suited for battle.
-
Guns, guns everywhere! Love em.
-
Alright I had this idea ever since I got back playing some dino-games, and this moment sealed the deal: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=144117793
I present to you, the Museosaurs flagship: the Museosaurus Rex! (or M-Rex for short).

-
Absolutely awesome. Salute!
-
Now we just need a seen with somebody in a goldfish looking in their rear view mirror, objects in mirror are closer than they appear.
-
I present to you, the Museosaurs flagship: the Museosaurus Rex! (or M-Rex for short).
That is just amazing.
-
I present to you, the Museosaurs flagship: the Museosaurus Rex! (or M-Rex for short).
the entire art team just looked at that image, and was like "what is even happening anymore"
I wonder if we start a petition to have Sgt.Spoon become the new lead-designer or something if that would work...
-
what is even happening anymore
-
That is one interesting looking Pyramidion! Is this the start of novelty lifting balloons in the GoI world?
-
Now we just need a seen with somebody in a goldfish looking in their rear view mirror, objects in mirror are closer than they appear.
Oh I can see the chase scene before me :D Jurrasic Icarus
~snip
Thanks for bringing up old memories :)
That is one interesting looking Pyramidion! Is this the start of novelty lifting balloons in the GoI world?
Yes. It's happening. As well as airship plushies!
-
Hmm, we should introduce ship skins, and following that, have a parade around Flayed Hills a la Rio Carnival, or simply Halloween
Oh, and plushies. That should be on the kickstarter :)
-
I'd buy a goldfish plushie!
-
Junker plushies!
-
I work in a set of 8 low wall cubicles sitting in the back so that I can monitor my
minions I mean engineers... Sometimes these individuals are so busy, that they do not hear me calling to them.... Now enter a pyramidion plushie... this plushie would be optimal to acquire the attention of those under my management mwuahahahahahahahaha :P...

So advertising has existed even as far back as ancient rome. I'm sure the people in Guns of Icarus are familiar with it, but what would they advertise...
-
Awesome, besides being incredible looking that's not a bad idea.
Kickstarter balloons muse? Maybe if you run short of cash you can sell the side of balloons as add space for corporations lol.
-
Nothing wrong with a little corporate branding according to the citizens of Sylka!
-
lol, I love the cola-Junker :D
...and once again Nadrynne your style is amazing
-
oh! oh! Squid could be a sushi place or something :P... I'd draw it, but no one wants to see that (if you think you do, please see the "You've been warned" thread :P)
-
Doo eeeet!
-
I sort of picture a sushi squid having a balloon that looks like one of those long paper sushi lanterns, with additional lanterns all over it.
Maybe with a slab of semi raw fish (or SKY WHALE) on top of the balloon. =P
-
These drawings are awesome, I'm starting to want my own.
-
So advertising has existed even as far back as ancient rome. I'm sure the people in Guns of Icarus are familiar with it, but what would they advertise...
i'll never forgive lenzs for putting THAT drawing as the logo. . . but i have to admit i got a good laugh seeing it in this fan art. . . but seriously who puts a "evil lawyer cow" as a logo for beer *Shakes fist at lenz*. . .
-
I bring you: The finest in Cheap personalized aerial transport, The Saltston Mark 1.
The very first factory-line airship. Your saltston has in fact, never seen a shipyard!
Costs less than your average Kinforth apartment! No guarrantees, Ensurance not included.

Awesome aircraft. I especially like the air intake :D

Just hold on tight when performing tight turns!
That looks great.

I never noticed it was a cow until I looked closely at the reference screenshot I took so I could redraw it. I'm curious as to the background behind the "brand" design. =P

pretty much the muse art team does 20 minute art exercises ranging from quick paintings in photoshop to zbrushing. usually we pick a random theme, in a random way. . . one month or so we ended up simply having 3 people shouting out words at random and then we'd do what ever we came from it. . . more or less the 3 words where cow, lawyer, and i believe destruction or evil? and to be honest, the cow was probably my worst worst drawing cause i started off drawing a phoenix wright cow, looked over at lenz screen and realized he was doing the same thing. . so changed it up half way. the full picture was alot more. . . umm. . violent lets say >>. . . either way while lenz was making those bottles he needed a logo, and branded it after me. . . . and for what ever mysterious reason? he picked the cow. why? god knows . . .
doing dozens of 20 minute art exercises with random themes is a really really good way to practice. i consider those exercises as the source of how much better i am at doing art then when i started working at muse, and would love to see what comes out of people doing guns of icarus themed 20 minute fan arts ;p (maybe something more specific though then just "guns of icarus". . .)
-
Perhaps a similar thing could be started on the gallery forum (if there is the interest) where once a week or more, a theme using is picked using some random words and then people have to make some quick fanart based on those words. It might even encourage people to draw who might otherwise not give it a try.
And I bet there would be some hilarious stuff too with the right mix of random words.
-
I'd try it.
-
So what do sky-whales eat?
Sky-shrimp.
-
Whoa creepy, wouldn't want to fly my airship into one of those.
-
reminds me of the striders from morrowind o-o
-
And what do sky-shrimp eat?
-
Well I guess in this case the flamethrower doubles as a cooking tool.
-
reminds me of the striders from morrowind o-o
And vaguely of the striders from HL2. Vaguely.
-
That is horrifying. Giant photo plankton next, my god.
-
AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
That may be the most horrifying monster ever.
-
And what do sky-shrimp eat?
sky plankton.
Let me get right on that

And sky-plankton eat the sky-sunlight?
-
sky whales? sky shrimp? sky plankton? sky sunlight? we must go deeper. . .
-
sky whales? sky shrimp? sky plankton? sky sunlight? we must go deeper. . .
Eventually it's going to end up being sky quarks.

And sky-plankton eat the sky-sunlight?
No, the sky-algae, wich feed on sky-sunlight.

Here we go.

Sky-shrimp.
Those creepy, flood looking jerks...

Damn, mask. Those things are both funny, creepy and awesome looking. What program do you use if I may ask?

Photoshop I suspect!
Mask: You should draw one after it has been fried.... making use of the heat from a squid's engine!

my suspection as well, heh

I approve.
It is now incorporated into my random iPad background art.

its a very risky art style but i love the picture's natural aspect.
it almost give you the feeling of being the artist of this picture.
the creativity overflows me and gives me alot of new ideas.
im now gonna jump of the ship...

My favorite part, little American flag pasted on the back.

My favorite part, little American flag pasted on the back.
I like to think that some random patriotic family in the Yeesha empire still thinks that it's the USA and hasn't noticed any change.

i'm paraphrasing but thats the gist of it. .

Hi, I'm new! I've been playing for about a week now, and I'm immediately hooked. So I saw this thread and thought I'd share some rough scribblings I've made. I might try to pretty them up in Photoshop later, though I have no idea how. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Man.. that captain looks really mad, or perhaps that's just the moonshine, hehe
...that's right I'm resurrecting the fan-art thread
-
Thank God someone did...
-
I could only draw so many things on my Ipad lol. Maybe I'd like to find my palette and have at it, damn thing up and vanished about a year ago in the nether.
-
Thank God someone did...
Yeah I almost forgot about it, heh
Let's see if I find something to put up oh right I'm not at a computer
-
Listen to the captian, pretty please?
-
Excellent stuff Ccrack. Nice to see your helping keep the thread alive with your kick ass drawings.
-
Aye, kick ass is the right word here
-
Her look emanates the myriad of feelings when both engineers bring a buffkit without chemspray or extinguisher.

Whelp, I drew my engi awhile back, been working on my pilot but she's nowhere near finished yet

Persists to be awesome! Thanks for migrating over, Redgrave. I can't wait to see the finished pilot.
-
Oh yeah, I saw that over at the art section on the steam-hub a while ago. Loved it, but then completely forgot about it.
Really nice Redgrave!
-
i like your engineer, so i decided to draw mine aswell

Damn guys those are awesome.
Something tells me though that Charon's is based off of real life experience.

hell yes, that engies facial expression

Here's another pic of my engi because I gave up on my captain XD

The immense jealousy I have towards you folks with artistic skill... :(

Those 3 engineer pics, along with nadrynnes stuff is probably my all time favorites
-
gave colour a try, think its best i just stick to pencils
-
Nice work, love the coloring.

This shall be known as the page of Engineers!!! With a lone gunner.
But anywho, I'm addicted to drawing my engi ;3;

She kind of looks older in this one
And Ccrack, your engi and her coloring is amazing! I with I could actually color in RL... every time I try to it looks like I colored a sketch with crayons v-v
-
Really like the both of them, agh <3
-
Those are some great looking Engineers, guys!
-
!!the captain character has stand out personality :D
I also like the colors on the engi!!
great work guys!!! more art please!!!!!><

That's Shelley. She does in-game costume design and stuff.
-
Really? Huh that's new, you'd think I'd know of her by now.
-
unexpected? i dont upload stuff on here very often because i would get banned lol
i got a spot at a university by drawing boobs, no joke
-
You can get into university for doing many things. Apparently drawing magnificent breasts is among them.

I'd be SO proud if...
a) my boob-drawing skills were magnificent
b) I'd gotten into university with it.
So congrats! xD
-
Game design. It's a thing. As Tomb Raider demonstrated. *sigh*
Seriously. Any drawing of a female I have is a normal stick figure with hair. Edit: And I don't need boob-drawing tutorials, so don't even ask. I'm just fine with stick figures with hair.
-
tsk tsk, Pie pie pie :P
Oh and nice pic. What I wouldn't do for that kind of art skill, non-digital nevertheless Remind me to never hide the moonshine again
-
I wouldn't say anything that could create fanfic, spoon. Rethburn sees all. Everything.

You're right, that would be... interesting ^^

Dayum, that is seriously good, Hue.

Great drawing,
Big hair, pocket watch and moonshine = good stuff.
-
I love when people say that they "seriously failed" on something that looks better than anything I'll ever be able to draw.
-
I'll have to agree with you Sunderland.
-
Having no drawing skills of my own, I opt to focus on photo manipulation in photoshop.
This is something I had a little play around with.

Dagnabbit Hamster, I was totally about to do that.
-
You just have to do it better. I didn't put the gauges or the tail on it. There is still room for improvement.
-
Nice work, Hamster!

Riot Runner Asteria, the Starry-Eyed Engineer I do see her having plaster bandages on her face a lot since she works with airships and it involves lots of dangerous things... Like fire! So much fire...
This isn't a real refined drawing of mine. More scribbly and draft-like (you can tell it's draft mode when there are no defined hands) with lots of anatomical issues. I did most of this from memory and a lot of it is more just basic shapes. I'll probably redraw portions of this once I'm not in school since the fact that most of the tools are just shapes and not really tools.
I did take liberties with how the character carries their tools (holster for Chem Spray, tool belt for Pipe Wrench and Buff Hammer) etc. So it's definitely not accurate.
-
That's pretty cool, I dig the chem spray holster.
-
CLEARLY *REAL* ENGINEERS NEED TO CARRY THEIR STUFF SOMEHOW? Right? I'm not insane in thinking that? :O
-
asteria have you seen the GoIo VN thread? we need more people
-
We need artists, not just people.
-
(http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/2787/mjtc.png)
There we go. Redrew it finally and computer cleaned some of it (have to redraw the thicker, darker lines). Not the best, but definitely much happier with how this one turned out. Also, more doodles.

some of this stuff is pretty impressive.
I might try and dig up some of the stuff I was working on, it doesn't have to be good to be fanart, right? ^^

It doesn't have to be good, just look at some of mine for examples lol.

welp, I've been missing out on some great drawings it seems. Especially liking that style Asteria.

Not sure why we have a thread dedicated to fanart when we have a whole section to post it in.

I love your style. Looks like badass characters from Borderlands <3
I have a theory, that this thread is for 1-2 pictures. Like, people who love spamming trash sketches (like me), create their own threads.
Hue definitely needs his own gallery

These are all lovely. This thread (and the game) are making me super excited to whip up some Fan Art myself :D.

Muse, hire sosmitsky already

So many beautiful post.

as you can see the visual novel team is hard at work cough..cough..
-
Yes... We're very hard at work... First off fantastic work as always everyone, and secondly, we have made a lot of progress (not like I made much of a difference) we do have something planned but I'll it to the others to disclose that.

Not really an art but this is my brother drew to sum up his so far GOIO experience:

I decided to add my three cents:

^ 10/10 That is fantastic and mostly accurate, except that the flying around is/should be fun too.
-
Depends on who you're flying with really. Also, lobbies are fun too.
-
Since we are already veering waaaay off topic, I'd argue that the diagram (other than the lobbies) is the diagram of a well paced game. Constant action is bad pacing.
-
"Fun" should be replaced with "intensity" the entire experience is fun but intensity peaks and drops with the flow of the game. Being a well timed mallet hit away from death only has meaning if you are not always a well timed mallet hit away from death.

something squddish here
it's just a sketch though =) I know it is different from real squid but i really wanted that helm on front

The squid has a lot of geometry and I applaud you for rendering it at this angle. Some of the rigging is missing but I those ropes would interferer with the composition. I like how you render the back in soft focus to draw attention to the part of the ship you want to focus on.
-
It actually reminds me a bit like a barge almost, kind of perfect for hauling cargo.

Looks similar to the arashi bonefish from the coop mode demos, just needs a beaked balloon and a heavy gun up front.
