The Merry Men

Welcome adventurers, mercenaries, jesters, smugglers, brigands, and misfits! We harbor folk from all walks of life in Zill’s Merry Men. Your reasons for falling in with such a disreputable band are your own, but we’ll put you on a boat and put your skills to use. Though our merry company may be wanted across the land for "piracy" and various other "crimes", we never leave a friend behind and we always fight to the last.

Our creed: To Clear Skies, and Fair Winds.

We are led by the fearless RearAdmiralZill who has led his band of Merry Men into countless battles.

Those willing to join our cause may rest easy: the Merry Men are not a demanding bunch. We only ask that you put your best foot forward. However, when the need is great and our enemies are near, we rise from the mists of the Fjordlands, the canyons of Yesha, or the walls of Anvala to defend our livelihood and the places we hold dear.

When we're not striking down our enemies, we relax at the Burning Skies Saloon (https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,64.0.html) where the fabled gunner and barkeep Yiski serves cold mugs of Hellfire and spins tales of Merriment.

So, who is ready to fly?

Who We Are: We are the Merry Men! We are a tight knit group of people that enjoy playing Guns of Icarus and other games together. We like to maintain group of active players here to uphold the very things that brought MM to life. Be it competitive PvP, or arduous PvE, we're ready for a fight.

What We're Looking For: Much like the legendary band of outlaws we take our name from, we accept members of all skill levels and origins. Whether you’re a new player looking to learn the game or an old hand looking to test your skills there's a place for you in the Merry Men.

Benefits of Joining:
*Note: No actual plushies are made at the Yiski Co. Plushie Factory.

How to Join:Find us in-game! We're always in need of steady hands, since we're usually inebriated. Also: Leave a post in this thread with the information below:

In Game Name:
Steam Name (can be given later through PM):
Preferred Class:
What would the name of your favorite drink be in Guns, and why? (Creativity gets you a shot at winning one of Yiski's Plushies!)*

Look for RearAdmiralZill in game and hop on their ship for a test flight to make sure you’re sufficiently merry and a good fit for our group. We realize this might make the process take a little time, but the company is worth it!

*Note: Be seriously, no actual plushies are made at the Yiski Co. Plushie Factory.

-To Clear Skies!-

A tale from one HamsterIV:

I had a dream, more of a nightmare, where I was late for an important commitment. I wanted to take a shortcut that looked suspiciously like the Canyon map. As I approached the canyon entrance I get this premonition of danger, as if something terrifying and evil was lurking around the next bend. In spite of my tardiness I linger for a moment. I know Zill waits for me in the skies ahead. I know his gunners don't miss, I know his engineers will allow him to shrug off damage that would kill a lesser crew, and worst of all I know his tactical placement will be perfect.

Eventually my fear of being late overwhelms my fear of Zill and his Merry Men. I push forward cautiously, my eyes searching for every ambush point, fixating every hint of the sharks I know lurk in this canyon. In spite of my diligence the first warning I get is the crack of cannonade smacking my balloon. Zill is on me, his guns tearing my ship to pieces. I try an wheel around to put up some sort of defense but Zill just dances to my blind side. I hit chute vent and throw my engines into full reverse, trying desperately to pass under Zill's guns and give my beleaguered engineers a break. My maneuver is for nothing, Zill is still on my blind spot, still shooting, and laughing at my feeble attempt to break contact. I feel like a bull in the final minutes of a bull fight. I lash out blindly trying to at least scratch my tormentors but every move I make is met by a masterfully executed counter. I feel my life blood leaking away but still thrash about violently hoping upon hope that one of these movements will catch Zill off guard.

I tell my self Zill is only human, he has to have a weakness, he has to mess up some time. This is a lie of course, Zill is a remorseless killing machine. Like a shark he is the apex predator of the medium in which he swims. He can smell weakness a mile away and has studied his prey to the point he knows how they will react before they do.

Death eventually embraces me and I am hovering over my shattered ship, Zill idly swims through the debris cloud, a casual flick of his tail swats aside a piece of wreckage. I look closer at this "wreckage" and realize it is one of my crew. His cold dead eyes stare into me as if he is asking "why did you lead us here?" and to that I have no answer.

Once I get back from my drug induced amnesia and slight hallucinations, I like to defend this proud land

In Game Name: Honeybadger
Steam Name (can be given later through PM): Mr. Honeybadger
Preferred Class: Pilot/Engie (Repair or Aux)
If you were a cow off to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back, what would you do to be in that 10 (Shink did this)?

I would be the one cow that said enough and hijacked the slaughterhouse's company car and blast "fuck the police" while rollin down the street moo'in and shit, but then I would get in a fender bender and I don't have any insurance because I'm a cow, so I walk up to the other car to get his info a skeleton popped out. Then I would wake up in the morning #TreeFiddy and I would be walkin down the street with mah other cow OG gangsta shit, fertilizin' lawns and shit, then I would buy fake udders so the slaughter house would have no choice but to take me back. Then I woke up at the ranch in a fresh Bugatti.

Shink...

Hmmm, well, after some debate with myself, I figure it might be fun to be on an actual team soooo... here 'tis:

In Game Name: Imagine

Steam Name (can be given later through PM): taycamoal

Preferred Class: Any of them, whatever you need at any given time.

If you were a cow off to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back, what would you do to be in that 10 (Shink did this)?
Nothing. Cow meat is delicious and if I were to be slaughtered I would go happy knowing that I would make some steak and burger and whatever else eaters happy by providing my quality meats. I'd be like that cow from the Restaurant t the End of the Universe who comes and asks which part of me you'd like to have a dish from that night.

Looks like I'm going to be able to make use of this thread after all:

https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,1212.0.html

but then again this is a recruitment thread for the Merry Men, and if Squash wanted to defect from the ducks, that's fine with me, but he would have to put it in himself. There would be a pretty painful De-feathering though :P... Now if you're interested Sunderland, I could convince Yiski to go easy on you

Flying with the Merry Men would be pretty sweet.
Or you know, just NAF.

In Game Name: Plasmarobo

Steam Name (can be given later through PM): Plasmarobo

Preferred Class: Pilot, failing that, engineer.

If you were a cow off to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back, what would you do to be in that 10?
Alright, if I've got me some time: Fatten up other cows and decide to not eat anything, but be like, a really cool cow. Like everyone on the farm's best friend. I'd learn tricks, while secretly fattening my cow-bros.

If I don't have a lot of time, totally pretend to have mad-cow. It's a risky move, because I might get shot, but I can have a 'miraculous' recovery.

Yeah. The mind of Shink man.

As a Merry Man and the one who runs the gambling scene in GoIO I feel it is my duty to say we are definitely, absolutely, positively, irrevocably, inconceivably, indubitably, NOT evil.

By the way, if anyone talks to N-Sunderland tell him he is overdue and I'm sending Tony round to collect.

Though I made the initial post, Zill pushed me to post again. Something about bumping this thread and some other nonsense we blame Shink for.

Anyways, I'm sure some if not most of you have read Burning Skies Saloon. If not, go read it now.

However, I'm not just a roleplayer, I'm also one of the most feared gunners in the game (when I'm not lagging, or suffering FPS drops... dammit Shink).

Anyways, we're a great bunch of people to play with (kinda left this part off) and we'd be happy to field new players. Zill can teach piloting, I can teach gunning, Pinkamena Diane Pie  or BdrLine can teach engineering.

As for Shink... well don't go to him or you'll just learn how to blame him.

Well I'm brand new to the forums as of today, and have only been playing for just less than a month (only about 16 in-game hours) but I'm feeling good about things so far. Since I've been playing with zill and shink lately it feels only right to post here and sell my soul. Whether you need someone as a backup gunner or as a team ship to help with damage, I'll be here.

In-Game name: timmymonsta (not very terrifying I know, but it's what I've been going with since forever)

Steam Name: timmymonsta

Preferred Class: Pilot (Secondary Class: Gunner)

If I was a cow in that situation, I would first make sure that those more important than me are safe first as they are most crucial. If there is a spot left for me to take however, I would fight tooth and claw (hoof and horn?) to wedge myself into that slot in order to keep on going.

Once again, this is mostly just to put myself out there but If you need me (either as a friend or foe), I'll be available. Speaking of which, I'm mostly available weekday nights and weekends depending on when I'm working. School will be over at the end of next week as well which will greatly open me up.

Hey timmy, great to see you on the forums and finding our thread. Glad you stuck around last night and kept fighting. Had many good games. I'd be glad to see you in our matches any day for doses of evil plots merry chaos.

Me and/or Shink would like to have some matches with you on our side to see how it plays out. Judging from last night I'm pretty sure it'll go smoothly.

It would be quite fun to be on the winning your side for a bit just to see how it goes. I might be on a bit tonight again if you want to try it out tonight. Also chaos is always welcome in my eyes. You just cant have any fun without it!

Last night, Zill questioned why I hadn't already joined the Merry Men since I fly with y'all a lot, and my answer was laziness. Making a post is hard work. But I decided to do it anyway.

My preferred class is gunner, and I like to think I'm half decent at it (most days). I can engineer decently, but I'm rubbish as a pilot.

I don't actually know what my steam name is, but I can look it up when I'm online next.

I would condescendingly deride his taste in everything, until his soul was so crushed by the overwhelming psychic weight of my disapproval that he is forced to keep in order to try and redeem himself in my eyes. Upon our return to the farm, I would lead an Animal Farm-style uprising, except the cows would be the leading class, and the Trotsky-analogue cow would win out, because screw Stalin.
Or just moo, because cows can't talk.

Welp, figured I may as well go ahead with this now that Plasma joined and DMaximus made his post. Always enjoy flying with you guys.

In Game Name: Surette
Steam Name: scottsupersonic (though my Steam profile ID is scottsurette -- http://steamcommunity.com/id/scottsurette)
Preferred Class: I enjoy pilot and engineer pretty equally, and I'd like to think I'm proficient in both.

I'd look that farmer straight in the eyes without blinking until he felt so uncomfortable being next to me that he had to leave me behind.

Definitely one of the most nerve-wracking matches I've played as a pilot.  :P

I got a Zill or two in that match. It's like a normal kill, but it's against a ship Zill is flying. I've heard they're adding it to the stats page in the next update.

We also played a game with Hamster on our crew... in canyons.... I could not stop thinking about the story he wrote... I almost want to see some more of that.... but I'm no author :P
You already know how hard it is to fly against Zill. The story was putting that experience into words and throwing on a few metaphors where normal English isn't sufficient to describe the hopelessness and desperation.

Just because I saw the cool badge I could wear on my sleeve.

In Game Name: Mill Wilkinson
Steam Name (can be given later through PM): Millwilkinson
Preferred Class: Gunner, though a newbie in it. I can also engineer, but not so well. I hate piloting.

If you were a cow off to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back, what would you do to be in that 10 (Shink did this)?
It all depends on the quality of my fellow-cattle. If they are assholes, I'd follow the earlier-mentioned plot of being thin and cool, while secretly beefing the others up. If there were a cow or cows I liked well enough I'd give myself to the slaughter.
Other option would be to befriend the farmer's wife/daughter/son/lover/husband with my charming personality and silly antics. Who would dare to kill his beloved's good friend?

If you were a cow off to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back, what would you do to be in that 10 (Shink did this)?
Hmmm... I think I would build some kind of polymorphing machine that would change my bovine betters into chickens, and have them shipped off to the nearest KFC.

It's a common and probably boring answer to the question, but I've always thought invisibility would be my superpower of choice. That level of stealthiness has basically unlimited benefits for various situations.

Aside from that, the ability to make a beer appear in my hand on command would be nice.

If I were a superhero and could have any superpower I want, I'll say that I'm fully Asain and full Asians are smart enough that they can think of the power they want, they can have it. Example, let's say he wants super speed, poof thinks about it and bam super speed. Or if he wants strength, poof again just think he gets. :p

Why? Because Zill told me to do so.

Is it Zill's fault? Never. It's always Shink's fault.

Actually, the last half of the first line is a lie. I will give you potential recruits something new.

What is it you hope to gain from joining us?

Yes, I realize this may seem arbitrary (because it is), but I'm bored (as well as Shink and Zill) and I (we) would like to see the answers.

Question A: What is it you hope to gain from joining us?
Answer: I hope to gain practice partners who commonly play the game and enjoy flying on a daily basis. Also, to be part of a team who competitively plays in various tournaments.

Question B: (Zill's request) If you were a cow off to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back, what would you do to be in that 10?
Answer: I think if I were a cow in this kinda situation, I would pretend to be a human (Similar to Back at the Barnyard) and leave the entire pasture. Not only do I escape being killed, I also let one other cow live, so it benefits both me and that other lucky cow.

Oh and I blame Shink for crashing our Endless Space game in the middle of a turn >:l

But yes, welcome Climatic. You were a pretty badass pilot when I crewed gunner for you. :)

IGN: Gryphos
Steam name: Gryphos
Preferred class: Pilot, but can be whatever is required
Superpower: The ability to stop time, but still move freely and manipulate objects, would be awesome. Think about it, you could essentially win any fight by stopping time, whacking them over the head with a heavy object, putting the object back where you found it, returning to the exact spot you were, and restart time, watching as the other person crumples to the ground without you seemingly ever laying a finger on them.

Ps: it's pronounced like "greifos" not "grifose". While not technically phonetically correct, it makes sense in the universe I've spent a lot of designing. Maybe I'll share some details later, the notes are quite extensive.

Hey guys. I don't know how you would feel about this but I think if we talked to some of the use team who runs the bounty system then my idea could work. What if the entirety of the us signed up as bounties on one of the bounty hunting weekends. I mean all the merry men marked as bounties. Sure you could opt out but you have to admit it would be quite amazing.

Also, a joke:

I'd become a battle cow, grab the largest battle ax I could find and charge head on into battle with my brethren against the evil of the beef barons.  Blood would be split, enough to keep the Nile red for years to come.  Feasts would be celebrated annually in honor of the glorious uprising I had led against the tyrant farmer.  Statues elected in my honor and the honor of the fallen.  And when my time was over and life was leaving my body, I'd snuggle myself into my hay bed, knowing that the end was near, I'd close my eyes and the final gasp of air from my frail body would be a but a faint whisper.
"Mooooooooo"
And that whisper would be remembered for generations to come.

In Game Name: The Djinn
Steam Name (can be given later through PM): The Djinn (http://steamcommunity.com/id/TheDjinn)
Preferred Class: Haven't had enough game experience to really say. I'm drawn to the role of Pilot, but haven't yet mustered the resolve to fly in a pub game without a crew I can rely on not to harass me for beginner mistakes. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and do that tonight.

If you were a cow headed to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back. What would you do to be a part of that 10?

If we're assuming I'm a cow capable of non-ordinary cow actions, then why do only 10 get to live? I'd get inspirational: we're a herd of heavy animals with the ability to stampede. This massacre doesn't have to happen. Rise up against your farmer oppressors! Better to lose five comrades in glorious battle than all but ten by our own inaction! To arms, brethren! To arms! ...well, to hooves actually, but you get the idea.

Random Aside

I'll readily admit to being very new to this game: I've been playing less than a week. That said, I a team-oriented player coming from a bunch of other team games (TF2, L4D2, League of Legends), and so I'm really big on having a community of guys I know I can ask questions, play with, and learn from. Hence why I'm applying as such a new player, rather than waiting until I have more pub game experience. Hope that isn't an issue for you guys: this group looks great, especially since it seems you actually vet people for personality and teamwork ability rather than just accepting everyone. I really like the idea of a clan that actually makes sure that being part of that clan is a good experience for everyone involved. Great job!

I also hope my tendency to use "Port" and "Starboard" won't get on anyone's nerves: for some reason I just can't say "Left" and "Right" when I'm on an airship. :P

I also hope my tendency to use "Port" and "Starboard" won't get on anyone's nerves: for some reason I just can't say "Left" and "Right" when I'm on an airship. :P

The only one it'll bother is me, and that's just because I have problems with left and right to begin with...

Thanks!

See we're not as evil as Hamster makes us out to be :P..... That being said, if we ever catch Overwatch in our forest..... some titles will be challenged

A shark is not Evil. A shark will still kill you if given the chance. A shark will sever an artery and let you bled out. A shark will inflict major muscle trauma and let you drown. A shark will feel no remorse about any of this. When a shark does this it is just being a shark.

Like wise a Zill is not Evil, but the side effect of a Zill being a Zill is highly unpleasant.

@ Zill
The scars of my last encounter with you are burned into my memory. Last time I was in a server with you, I was on Shink's Pyra as an engineer against your Hwachafish. We were so close to winning a 4:4 match when out of nowhere you show up and body check our ally into the ground. He didn't stand a chance, you ran your keel through the middle of his balloon like a hot knife through butter. He was probably screaming "Where the %$#@ did we get hit from?" as his broken ship became one with the earth.

The crux of the problem is the side you are on is mostly filled when I join a game, so most of my experiences in your servers are on the other team. I think I was on the same ship as you once. You had disconnected mid game, had your spot taken and reconnected to the game on my ship. This leads me to think of you as a bogey man, a creature with super natural powers to do the thing I fear the most at the moment I am the most vulnerable.

Oh man, what can I say about Zil's Merry Men other than, they are awesome. I've flown in pubs with them, I've flown against them in tournaments and I've yet to encounter a bad apple.

Zil's Merry men really are an amazing clan and they are great sportsmen/women to boot. You need look no further than day 6 of the Flotsam campaign to see that in action.

Overwatch are forever in your debt for you selfless actions on the field of battle that day. They may have cost you the win, but gave you the moral victory!

@ Hampster : I can see that I suppose. I gave up saving spots on my side a long time ago, lol.

@ Rimmer : I appreciate that and I'm sure the rest of MM does as well. We used to have some merry women (and I swear we treated them well) but they have since left the camp. I think Shink scared them away.....

Anyways, you guys are always welcome to our lobbies and in the future im sure we will meet again competitively.

If you were a cow headed to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back. What would you do to be a part of that 10?
Start a revolt. Why should any of us be slaughtered? I would call up the heard to rebellion against our farmer overlord and we shall make ourselves free!!! Forward brothers! The BULLshevik revolution has begun!!! (A thousand pardons for the pun)

You may have noticed a lack of Merry Men in the skies as of late. We've been on a bit of a Guns vacation, recharging our batteries after the Flotsam tournament. Some played Payday 2, some played Terraria, and others played Civ V. I coded. The end result is a new hub for the Merry Men:

http://merrymen.herokuapp.com/ (http://merrymen.herokuapp.com/)

Thanks to the power of Ruby on Rails and Twitter Bootstrap, I was able to whip up a fully featured and secure web app in under a week. I wanted a better way to communicate with our non forum-going or Skype-using members, and having a website is the best way to do that. It's still under development, so some things may change and there are more features planned. I'm an engineer by training: web dev is not my specialty so it may look a bit off or ugly in places but it will work.

Site Features:

People looking to join the Merry Men should still post here, nothing's changed with that process. We'll be back in Guns, so make sure to find us and play with us after posting here.

To our non-MM friends: keep an eye out for us in the sky, we'll be around and hopefully even more organized.

To our Merry Brothers and Sisters: register (http://merrymen.herokuapp.com/users/sign_up) on our new site, bookmark it, subscribe to the feed, and eventually opt-in to get emails when we're trying to schedule a new event or something. (no promises that you won't be signed up for cat facts)

If you have any questions or comments about the site, feel free to contact me here or via PM.

Great flying with you too! Best crew I've had in a training match in a long time. It was also the first training match I've run in a few weeks, I've been slacking...

I also flew with Zander Broda last night with a captain that talked like a pirate constantly. It was amusing. Then Zander piloted us to several fun kills with a banshee pyra.

Yeah, the carousel images resizing poorly is bugging me a lot. I do all my development on a tiny 13in MacBook, so I only notice things like that after pushing it to Heroku and looking at it on a bigger screen. It's on the list of things to figure out.

Well, there's been a distinct lack of answering the final question (i.e. If you're a cow to slaughter, or what superpower....). These questions are integral for us to judge your creativity (which luckily is not a required trait), but used to determine your merriness.

So we shall open with a new question:

What type of beer would you be?

While I love the question, it's not exactly fair to any American applicant under 21. Plus, if anyone sad Bud Light we'd be forced to kick them out.

I'd be a saison. Complex and incredibly flavorful with earthy tones echoing their rustic origins. They can be as bitter as you care to make them. Most are quite dry and fairly acidic, with just a bit of sweetness at the end. They're brewed to be a refreshing beer for any occasion. And as a bonus they often have a pretty high ABV.

Now I need to go get some saisons...

Mr. Lambert: That is a gorgeous logo treatment. I'm also overjoyed that it's a treatment of the original logo, because now we've got something that looks gorgeous when we've got the resolution and the design to showcase fancy graphics, as well as something that's very utilitarian and easily identifiable (the old mono-color logo). That appeases the designer in me greatly.  :P

Thanks! Yeah, I have to do the matches by hand and I've been lazy so it hasn't really been updated yet. I also need to move all the matches from the old Google Sites page over. Even if it were up to date, for that Rumble it would only have the one bo3 match we participated in against Valiant/TFD listed. I also need to add tournament grouping... so much to do.

If you were a cow headed to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back. What would you do to be a part of that 10?

I would show the farmer that I can sing and dance with the best of them. I would tell the farmer that upon slaughtering me, I would call down 10 plagues to his/her house. I would instill a right to fear me, like a Dread Pirate should ha.

If you were a cow off to slaughter, and the farmers decided to keep 10 cows back, what would you do to be in that 10 (Shink did this)?

I would kill the 10 standing in the side if he didn't pick me first >:D. Or cause a cow riot, thus charging the fence so all the cows live! (and if we kill the farmer in the process, oh well, I'd blame Shink)

Pushed a new update to the site earlier this week. I've completely redone the matches page! The biggest change is that I've added support for grouping matches into tournaments. Behind the scenes I also made a few changes that should make entering a large number of matches a lot easier for me. Despite this, It's still mostly empty and will likely remain so until I have more time. The semester is wrapping up, leaving me with little free time for data entry.

oh wait
Okay. There's a door to the closet.

So a penguin walks through the door wearing a sombrero. First, he takes the sombrero off of the door and puts it on. Next, he waddles over to me at my precariously balanced laptop, slaps me for being such a smartasstic bastard, and heads back to whatever insane technology the penguins have invented now so he can get back to Antarctica, where it's warmer. (I'm not making this up, Montana was the coldest place on the planet with a weather station recording temperature about a week ago. Look it up.)

As for what the penguin says?

Nothing.
Not. A. Word.

A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?
As the penguin opens the door I am already on my feet and with my carrot unsheathed
"At last, you have come" I whisper, my eyes anything but a slit in my face
"It is time. The final battle. To death, then?" He says as he unsheathes his own daucus carota
We trade blows, and I get carrot slapped twice before stumbling and falling to the floor. As he launches himself forward, vegetable death pointed towards my eye, I stab blindly, covering my gaze, waiting for a death that never comes. I open my eyes slightly, to see him bleeding orange juice all over the floor. I stand up and stare down at the soon-to-be corpse.

"Eat β-carotene, bastard"
I take the sombrero and don it. I promptly leave the room with an unknown destination.
I must be careful, for now I am it.
I am the mariachiest creature in the whole universe.

A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?

The penguin soon asked, "Human, it is hot outside.  May I have 20000 pound crate of ice for my Journey?"  A few eyebrows were raised that day, as this was the first time a penguin was ever heard talking, and a penguin could most certainly not carry 20000 pounds.  Soon, the biggest galleon ever seen was brought in by the penguin's friends.  It was well thought of by conspiracy theorists that penguins would one day invade us, and the sheer bulk of the ship brought that to mind.  However, as the ship lifted the crate with a strong set of cables, penguins were proven to be quite stupid, and very incapable of mounting an invasion.  The crate struck several towers, beginning The Great New Year's Hail Storm of 2014.

Sadly, I'm not sure what our schedules are like anymore (of which I blame Shink for). Though I'm sure if I pestered the others enough they'll join.

Though the best chances you have at catching a few of us in game are probably between the times of 6pm - 9pm eastern standard time.

How lucky are you and why?
I feel very lucky, punk.

To not sound lazy, I'll give an actual answer to the question. I feel quite lucky.

Born in Finland as a completely healthy baby, I've got a bit of luck to have done that. Also a nice family, a passion, and a talent for that passion. Well, it's either talent or just pure "hit your head on that brick wall until it breaks"-attitude, when it comes to doing things I want to do. Being an actor makes me a rather impulsive person to play with. I also laugh a lot, and my jokes are pretty dumb. I respect intelligence and the will the learn things, and do not consider myself as much smart as I do a person that's taught himself a bunch of things 'cause he enjoys to learn stuff.

hmmmm... I do love me some well cooked duck. I've never tried preparing it, but I'd like to some day.

As long as we're not busy with, oh, say PAX all the time you're visiting, I'd go with something nice and spring-y to match the season. Maybe a pasta primavera and some lamb chops cooked in white wine paired with a nice saison (or the rest of the wine, if that's your jam).

(going backwards in time a couple hours to before the question was changed)
Come on guys, you just aren't being fair to potatoes.

Sure, bacon has the wow, the pizzazz, the "it" factor. You take bacon home for the night and you will have a wild ride. But come morning, all you will have left is regret and longing.
Potatoes, on the other hand, are for life.
Think about it. What do you use bacon for? It can be a topping or a solo food, both acting as just regular old bacon.

Take a potato, and you can boil it, mash it, stick it in a stew. Baked potatoes. French fries. Chips. Hashbrowns. Desserts, appetizers, full on meals. Use it to make alcohol.
Take a potato home for the night, and in the morning it will be making breakfast for you. It will spend the day hanging out with you. It will stick around. It isn't just a single night of fun: potatoes will give you night after night of quality nourishment, and stick around during the day to be there for all of your other needs too.

It will even generate electricity. How can you argue in favor of bacon when it can't power your electronics?

No, potatoes easily win that battle. A single hot flame may be enticing, but it is the long slow burn that wins this fight.

Howdy y'all.  Was recently gifted this game by a buddy who purchased a 4-pack...and I'm loving it so far.  Unfortunately, said friends have limited playtimes, and this game IS much more fun playing with non-randoms.  I figure a noob-friendly large-ish guild is just what I need!

I'm an experienced gamer, was a guild leader for several top guilds in world of warcraft, currently platinum and climbing in league of legends, and I've also devoured an atrocious number of excellent single player titles as well.  Friendly and as comfortable with receiving orders as I am with doling them out, I believe I'd be a worthy addition to any crew.

In Game Name:  BlueViper  (of Dorne, for anyone curious)

Steam Name (can be given later through PM): RunningManiac

Preferred Class:  I don't really have a preference.  When with my friends I am the pilot/captain of our proud little Pyra "BoomBucket," but I admit there is much for me to learn in that role.  Otherwise, I enjoy gunning, but engineers are more useful and get to shoot a lot of things anyways.

If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?

I cook some damned good chili, and my beef/lamb stew is top notch.  But since I tend to make both of those on the extremely spicy side, I'd probably make lasagna.  Can't go wrong with lasagna.  Except for gluten intolerant people.  But they're not invited.

I still remember the days I shyly applied to MM. These posts bring back memories. T.T

Also, what would I cook if these steamdogs were to visit?

Mill's Ovenstuff, bacon-edition
Potatoe strips (not fries, not chips. Those slim thin strips)
Onion according to faith, diced
Bacon sliced and diced, much
Overdosage of cooking cream, flavoured and lactose free (because consideration)
Spices like black pepper and sea-salt, although consideration on the current season must be had.

1. Butter up a large oven-dish, pondering on the amount of diners.
2. Fry the diced bacon and onions until onions are delightfully ready. Add spices according to your liking.
3. Preheat the potato strips in the baconstuff left on the pan.
4. add half of the strips and bacon-onion stuff into the dish.
5. Use half the cream you've brought to the dish.
6. Add the rest of the strips and bacon, then rest of the cream.
7. Mix it up to make sure everything is creamed up.
8. To the ovens! 220 Celsius for an appropiate amount of time.
9. Feast.

If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?  There is this chinese noodle soup akin to ramen that I make.  First, I would use the fatty portion of pork tenderloin, slowly stewed in an onion+soy sauce stock.  Then, I would chop up some spring onions and pour some sesame seed oil.  Before finishing the broth I would crack an egg on top to let it boil.  Finally, I would throw in some Char and bean sprouts.  The type of noodles I would use would be these fatty chewy whole wheat noodles.

Steam Name: naglfairy
Preferred Class: I would go for gunner right now, but it rotates between the three.

If you were to show up for dinner, I would command something from somewhere, usually some chinese food or pizza's. Maybe even the two. And if you ABSOLUTELY want to eat homemade, I would prepare a delicious spaghetti au gratin with garlic breads. Or a salad. If you're the kind of person that eat grass.

My name is GOI is MaudLyn. ... Which is also my steam name.
I prefer engineer class, but I also play gunner.

If you were to show up for dinner... I'd have a nice cheese plate with some lovely Cheeses and fresh fruits...Cabot clothbound cheddar, cypress grove truffle tremor and st. Andre triple cream Brie.
For dessert if present a tray of my world famous cinnamon rolls...I'm a baker you see...and my cinnamon rolls will knock your socks off.

A note to all my Merry friends: Make sure to check your email or the Steam Group regularly (now would be a good time to start). We're making moves, taking names, chewing bubblegum, mixing metaphors AND references, etc., and these are our main ways of communicating with you in a permanent, visible way.

A note to everyone else: Hey, how's it going? Hope you're having a great day.

Stay Merry, GoIO.

I don't know how to write this out but on the 12th I'll be leaving to Chicago to start out my new career in the Navy. It's been a blast playing and flying with this bunch of merry men and maidens. Ahh all the good times in the chaos and mines, I will miss that. I don't know when I'll be back to be part of the action again, but I shall return again to fly in the skies once more.

So until then,

BRNgames- In game name

BRNgames- Steam Username

Gunner- Preferred class

I would serve a meal that currently has no name, but is extremely good. It is a hollowed out loaf of french bread with ground beef mixed with cheddar cheese, green peppers, and chopped onion stuffed in side. Then it is baked in the oven until it comes out in a delicious Philly cheese stake type meal that is one of my personal favorites

I have applied to SPQR, but they haven't responded after more than a week.  Figured I might as well join the bandits if I can't join the police.

IGN: ShadedExalt
Steam Name: TwisTed_SH4D0W5
Preferred Class: Pilot or Engie.  Still learning how to fly, but I have a decent grasp on Engineering.

I would prepare something called 'Gourp'.  Basically, you take rice, cook it, throw a can of cream of mushroom soup in, grated cheddar cheese ranging in amount from a little to an entire brick, some mixed veggies, some chopped ham/chicken/turkey/bacon, and cook it some more, and then you put it on a plate beside some classic Ruffles and use it as an extremely filling dip.

Also, the delicacy suggested by BRNgames is widely known as 'Meatbread'.

For dinner, you say? I personally make a damn good chili.

One large white onion, chopped.
Two cans of Kidney beans.
Two cans of diced tomatoes (with jalapenos if you want it).
One can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce.
One packet of chili seasoning (you can usually find these in the Mexican aisle in grocery stores, come in plastic packets).
1lbs diced buffalo steak.
2 green chili habanero pork sausage.

Cook out the sausage, and cut into slices. Drain the water from the cans of beans. Mix everything in a slow cooker, cook on low for 4-6 hours.

I hope you like meat and spicy stuff!

It would be a great feast with much laughter! Dinner would very much depend on my mood. There certainly would be pasta in some form not limited to homemade mac and cheese or the magical one pot pasta. There would also be hummus with whatever type of bread pleases you (most likely pita or naan). Guacamole too because all meals need it. Alas, since I am of a more healthy inclination there would be some sort of vegetable or fruit. Probably fruit based on how the spread is looking. For those with a taste for meat, there would be some ham or maybe even burgers if I feel like playing with fire. And finally, the all important dessert. Cookies and ice cream for sure. These cookies aren't your everyday cookies though. These cookies are baked specifically to be soft and dough like without the threat of salmonella poisoning. And chocolate ice cream or maybe even a more exotic flavor.

Oh dear, I forgot beverages. There will be juice, a small variety of soda, a small variety of alcohol and a much larger variety of tea.

If you had any superpower imaginable, what would it be, and why? Electricity manipulation due to the fact that during the winter months I seem to generate a ton of static electricity. Even killed the power button on my monitor touching it once. Now I have to use the remote to turn it off and on again otherwise I have to unplug it and replug it back in to do so.

Hi, I am a very casual player being that I am a happily married Father of two little girls which makes my gaming sessions range from non-existant, very brief, and somehow managed to get 6 hours in. I was looking for a group to play with that would be tolerant of such a schedule and that uses Discord since that is my preferred voip method. I got into GOIO way back in the early kickstarter days, but haven't played much if at all for quite some time until recently. Wanting to get back into it again with the new Alliance content being added. Hope to fly with you folks sometime.
