Some people listen to the Default game music. Others, do not.
What do you listen to while playing GoI?
For example, I am a huge fan of progressive instrumental Rock such as Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment (A band comprised of Dream Theater instrumentalists) or Hacken (a tribute to Dream Theater...) *Seeing a lot of reference to Dream Theater* :P
I normally listen to this sort of music when I am an Engineer or Gunner however;
When I am a Pilot, I listen to Orchestral music (I am a pianist so the genre makes sense for when you fly into battle)
Certain orchestral songs include Flight of the Valkyries and William Tell Overture "Finale".
Apart from All this music, I also listen to requests crew have when onboard.

Ressarious made a good chunk of the music for Guns of Icarus but he also has quite a lot of pieces for other things and ones he just made for personal projects. His work is amazing and I'm sure you'll find some other pieces of his that you'll enjoy. The SoundCloud pieces are his most recent work for a personal album he'll be coming out with soon.

Indeed! He's an amazing composer

I have a very large set of music that I will shuffle through, ranging from Orchestra to Eminem to the Rolling Stones to Chinese cultural music to game soundtracks from my entire steam library to Electronica to acid rock. The full playlist (which I haven't made) would be somewhere in hundreds of tracks.

If I listen to anything while playing GoIO, it's either one of two albums by Obscure Sphinx, or good ol' "Ride of Valkyries" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGU1P6lBW6Q).
-
Nothing. I fill the silence with merry banter and laughs, every game =)

I listen to all kinds of things!
Like Butter Building...
FTL OST...
SNES chiptunes...
N64 OST...
Though I don't consider myself a hipster, I don't listen to very much mainstream music culture.
I've never really tried it, and I'm perfectly happy with VG music.

If myself and three particular friends are all sat in their living room playing a few matches together, then we play a selection of rock music. bands such as AC/DC, Rise Against and SlipknoT feature in the list.

Ehh, if only I had wifi to make parties like that... I have room big enough for 4 players, I just have no way to connect them...

Have one of them bring a wifi router... or set up a hotspot on a laptop?

You think I wouldn't try if there was such a possibility? :/
Setting up hotspot... Actually haven't thought about this, though I'm not familiar with idea.

Shogun 2 OST fits the theme so damn well.

Very good choices of music!

Normally I'm into trance/atmospheric music. That can be either electronic or acoustic for when I game or I'm drawing.
My favourite band is called Balthazar, look 'em up!
However, when I really wanna feel immersed/intense, there's no better music that the SotC soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmoYLtObCtY

To clarify, the first few tracks are very tame, kinda eerie which goes with that quiet flying prior to first contact. Later on in the soundtrack, you get some really insane pieces that are really bring out the emotion of a bad situation, and some triumphant pieces that go with that sweet moment when you double team a galleon that has given you hell for the whole match.

I have a lot of this stuff. My favourite genres are prog rock, jazz (and jazz fusion), and house, though video games seem to come up with amazingly energetic orchestral compositions that are always nice to listen to.
I will listen to anything for at least 5 minutes though.

I agree with Tipz- I will listen to almost anything for a little.

Oh, not wanted to make you feel bad, I put that " :( " more as a joke than anything. ^^
I'm fully aware that most people don't like that kind of music, and I love that band because of have well the "Lead bass guitar" institution was being executed in their songs. ^^ But I'm won't be bitching around if somebody tells to turn it off.
If somebody would do so when I requested any Obscure Sphinx song - then, then I'd get pissed xD

I like Metal, but Death Metal is usually a little heavy for me, yeah
To each their own, though
I can see why some like it

Death metal lovers in GoI are not actually that uncommon.

There's nothing like a good mosh pit at a death metal gig! 8)
Though I don't listen to a lot of death metal, I still listen to some. :)
