The Sunday Community Skirmish is a double elimination tournament event that runs every week with occasional breaks. All matches are 2v2, time limited best of 1s and are normally streamed live on Twitch. Any team of 8 players is welcome to participate.

This signup thread is for the Skirmish at 7pm UTC on Sunday May 24th (3pm EDT) The event is normally streamed by Fourth Oracle, as well as other streamers who vary from week to week. The details of all streams will be made clear on the day of or day before the event. The event has an expected runtime of 2-4 hours.

Signups should be posted in this thread and include a Steam/Skype contact and team name. Signups close at midday (UTC), or 8 AM EDT, on Saturday the 23rd of May. Please try to avoid last minute signups.
The bracket and map rolls will be available soon after signups close. (brackets at http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/ (http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/))
Participants will be contacted when their matches are starting, although it's encouraged to consult the bracket and keep track of the streams so you have a decent idea of when you will be playing.

The complete rules can be found in this document. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BEfqkDYqYDfaZ_-irntJt3yG4sowL0xgUtlToKwyK2E/edit) There is now also a brief summary of the ethos behind the rules and structure of the event.

Please only sign up if you are confident of your ability to produce a full team of 8 players.

The event will continue to follow DOUBLE ELIMINATION format with best of one matches!
Time limit per match remains at 20 minutes, without extra time. Have a look at this (http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/sundayskirmishtest) if you don't know how double elimination works.

WELL. No one signed up, I assume because of the holliday weekend, so we'll have a week off from the SCS. Enjoy your Sunday o/

If I say I wanted to compete can I be labelled this weeks winner? (It'll look good on ky Ryder records)

Bit late now :p

ALSO

I'd like to start using these sign up threads as discussions for potential changes or improvements in how we do things around here. Please save comments on new threads until after the event is over so we don't muddle the sign ups. I do want to hear from our participants on how/if we can make any positive changes

Been missing the best of three format, perhaps when there are fewer teams signing up go back to best of three and keep the new system for when there are a lot of sign ups? Maybe a fixed number that specifies what format the tournament will be?

I would really like to see a rule where every game begins on a pause until the referee starts the match when all players have loaded in, in order to solve the frequent issues with early game disconnects.

true that. existing teams need to consider participating in more events or next time they drop in they will find the competitive scene has disappeared completely.

I fear it has already happen.

I can come up with about 3-4 teams that are in competitive right now, and none of them are terribly active. But I guess people could be burnt out a bit(speaking from my point of view as well.).

im not even blaming the teams,

organizers have nothing to gain from this, other than keeping their own team active or gaining some experience in creating events.

if the teams dont want to play anymore thats just sad, but truth is that its really up to the teams themselves. some day the organizer just pulls the plug due to no signups.

I'll be making a return to the competitive scene soon once I get my routine a bit more stable, so hopefully Ryder will be able to have two teams again. :)
