Icarus is pretty much the only game that puts me in that romantic world. That's my main reason for playing Guns of Icarus.
I was won over by the intense... Um... "Dogfights"? If that's the right word? Most of it was probably owed to novice public matches when everybody charges headlong into the 3v3 deathmatch, but that still kind of rocked. Peeling away at the last moment because I didn't know collisions were an effective means of dealing damage. Gunners spraying weapons like madmen.
It was all very dramatic.
And I love steampunk and post-apocalyptia, so it's kind of perfect. It also reminds me of the Mortal Engines quartet, which I really like (even though I've only read three of four so far).
Technically dog fights are only related to plane v plane but whatever.

Does being a level 34 gunner in Guns of Icarus count for experience?
alright I gotta give a legit answer.
the community.
without good players and friends, good people to spend my time with in the lobbies or on the ship, this game would be nothing. you guys are what make it fun.
unloading a greased clip of Hades fire into an enemy at perfect range is fun too, as is the well-placed lochnagar mine, but the people here are what really make it worthwhile.
I mean, this game is probably the launch pad for my career in game development. Like Jacob said, the devs are some of the most engaged in their community out of any game I have EVER SEEN. It's truly what has kept this game alive. Launching an indie game that is multiplayer only is nearly a death sentence. Let alone the fact that it requires intense teamwork and communication. It's a hell of a feat to say the least. The fact that this long after launch new people can just buy the game and be welcomed into it and have people of similar skill to play against is insanely awesome. The ladies and gentlemen of Muse Games have repeatedly improved the first time player experience since they just keep coming in.
Really do love that intro tune. <3
