Who do you love more?
-Your main engineer
-Your buff engineer
-Your gunner
-
My gunner is usually the person I trust the most.
-
What Riggatto said. But I love all engineers for doing the work i don't want to.
-
I have very little experience in piloting but the rule of thumb is the most experienced engie is the main. I think I love engineers more because they have much much much much much of work to do (especially during Crazy King matches).
-
Well... all of them.
Because they'r all important.
-
Main Engi. When they are good, they are heaven-send.
-
My main engineer, cos without them I wouldn't be able to ram stuff properly
-
I love my main engineer above all. The quality of my main engineer will determine how reckless I fly. My job as pilot is not to put the crew into a situation they can't handle. Their job as crew is to be so brilliant there is no situation I can't put them in. At the center of this is the main engineer.
-
I loved the co-pilot best - they usually only join half way through the fight but their presence would always be game changing. Damn matchmaking stopping me utilising them more.
Their unrivalled ability to use both range-finder and spyglass while buffing the portside engine and aft flare (only) is obviously a massive advantage many teams are missing out from since the latest patch. In an emergency situation they can even rescue the ship by taking the helm and using chute-vent - A tool no matter how hard to try to remember I always forget to bring. Damn it muse, let pilots crew again.
-
Main engineer.
-
Main engi, because ramming.
-
depends on ship.
usually I run a crew where I focus on gun arcs, meaning all my love goes to the hull engie mattilald who is making me look awesome.
on spires and mobula, definately buff engineer and gunner,
goldie all love to gunners
-
Who do I love more and express this to? Or who do I really love more but forget to express my appreciation?
Because balloon gungineer is really really vital, but I never actually thank anyone for chem spraying the balloon and keeping it topped up.

Sammy has two buff engineers and a main engineer on his ship.

Disgusting.

Disgusting.
*efficient
-
Sammy insisting I bring buffkit on the two times I engineered for him is the reason I got past level 6 engineer achievements. I was nice and stalled at 3-6-9 until Sammy forced my hand.
-
If something disgusting, efficient, and/or bad happened, you can probably blame Sammy.
-
Obviously I'm pretty new (like really new), but definitely main engineer. I play in the gat/mortar preset pyramidion a lot, and with all my ramming (Fist of the Unicorns. Fear its name, and cookies to everyone who understands where FOTUS comes from) he keeps everything from falling into pieces. Literally. However, if I play with a sniper set up, buffing gungineer with Lesmok rounds. If he doesn't count, gunner. A sniping ship is nothing without a good gunner.
Also, hooray for first post. *waves flag around*
-
buff engi definitely, the one who's on balloon/engines on squid or goldfish.
-
My buff engineer makes me a better pilot.
My gunner makes me more deadly.
My main engineer makes me survive longer.
-
Who do you love more?
-Your main engineer
You're the best, undoubtedly. I can go without a gunner and a buff engineer (just ram the crap out of the enemy) but wihtout a main engineer I'd be lost.
-Your gunner
When you hit the right shots at just the right time. Mmmmmmmmmmmh. Beautiful.
-Your buff engineer
You think I can't see you not doing your job half the time just cause we're on a pyramidion and you're on the top shelf? Think again buffy.
-
What is a captain without his crew?
The love is real.
-
Since I recently started the joys of flying a squid, I love them all equally since I make them all do everything. Oh I'm calling my front buffgineer my gunner btw.

Metamidion, main engineer.
Lumberjack/Carronade Goldfish, Gunner.
-
Im on a spire 95% at the time. So gunner.
Everything i rely on is on the gunner. In some cases people think its the pilot doing the job. In some cases yes but always, and i mean always do i thirst for the gunner to deliver.
-
Has to be the main engineer. Gunners and gungineers get enough love when they blow our enemies up but the main has to put up with my piloting, and I'm the kind of pilot who views a repaired engine as an excuse to use kerosene, a functioning armor as an excuse to ram or wall bounce and a working balloon as an excuse to pop a little hydrogen. Usually at the same time as letting them know I'm bringing their gun into arc.
Not to mention just crashing into the canyons because the mountains needed teaching a lesson. Without my main engineers I'm lost, they are the most important person on the boat for me.
-
Going mainly by pyra as the main focus
Main engineer.
They do their job consistently the most.
My gunner and gunineer tend to get distracted easily. The gunineer jumps off the killing gun to "help" costing us a kill and giving us a death, because are still being shot while he's wacking this and we are still gonna be shot until that is dead.
And the gunner always holds this attitude that repairing is only ever the engineer's job.
That feel when I lose as the noobiest of ships the meta pyra. I mean in most pub situations you simply can't lose with that.
-
I must say I have little piloting experience, and I normally play the role of an engineer (no preference for main or gungi, depends on what my capt needs). But I always appreciate a good gunner for a simple reason: the ship has to last long enough for the gunner to do his job. The faster we score a kill, the better it is for all of us. Of course everyone contributes: the pilot brings the guns in range and steers the ship away from danger and the engineer keeps the ship functional, but all in all everyone is there to make sure the gunner successfully scores the kill.
Unless you rely primarily on ramming... then in that case my argument is invalid.

Well king of the hill and crazy king give good variation for making the kill unimportant, some ship builds are also very effective with three engineers as the ammo variations will not make a huge difference, as for ram only builds, you still require someone to take out the targets armour or else you'll just be trolling the enemy and your own engineers with hull camping and long term ramming, a frowned upon tactic in my opinion :)

Anything with a heavy gun on it---gunner.
Most other stuff --- engineers.
Basically, if you can make a lumberjack work, I will love you forever :)

...I have no clue why everyone always says that the LJ is a bitch to shoot. Any particular reasons why?

Some people manage to miss with the flamethrower.

Wait, what? The Flamethrower? It is the simplest gun to shoot, ever, of all time. Just wait til we close and then sweep back and forth. I mean its just...
Nevermind, Powder Monkeys.

Usually because the captain thinks that LJ is a super range gun and never engages under 1500m. You need real skills to hit at a four digit range.

That explains why my gunners are always stunned into silence... I just try to maintain maybe 4-500 meters. Hitting with ANYTHING in 4 digit range is hard.

It's not only the Lumberjack. I need a gunner with discipline on the Flak to wait for the lochnagar finisher, a steady hand to hose components down with the hwatcha, and one that can prioritize component targets with the heavy carronade.
When it's the gun that makes the ship work, you need a good gunner. It's that simple.
But still, it is amazing when you're locking down someone's balloon and grounding them from 1000+ meters.

Agreed. I love it when I get a good gunner on my Hwachafish. You can tell, too. It's absolutely beautiful when he disables every component in on volley, and then you can just turn, gat them, turn, Hwacha, turn, gat, repeat. Or have your team mate meta him. I still prefer my main engi on most ships, but on Spires, Mobs, and to an extent the Gally, gunner is really important.
