Title: how does chemspray work?

I'm currently writing a post for my gunnery tutorial covering the hades gun and realized that I actually do not know what chemspray prevents.
Does the chem spray buff only prevent firestacks to be added to components or does it prevent direct gun-fire-damage as well?

It only prevents the component from catching on fire. Fire damage from guns still applies.

Additional firestacks do not get applied for 20 seconds, and three stacks of fire are removed per use. (time doesn't get added to the effect duration, it only resets the duration.)

Thought it was moved to 25 seconds a few patches ago?
