Title: Measurement Units
Post by: Sprayer on September 19, 2013, 03:04:24 pm
The velocities given on the Charts for ships are in km/h and the acceleration in m/s².
Please make the velocities into m/s so it's easier to comprehend how fast they are reached.

Don't mean to make this a math lesson but that is just the units for acceleration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foot_per_second_squared

It's the correct way to label them.

I think he wants the max ship velocities given in m/s so he can extrapolate how long it will take a ship to get up to top speed. FYI there are 0.277778 m/s in every km/h. Generaly m/s are given for very fast moving objects like bullets while km/h is reserved for slower moving objects like cars and airships.

Read op again since you missed the point entirely.

@Hamster that may be true but on cars you dont get an acceleration in m/s². You get told "[...] seconds to reach [100/200/300] km/h"
I'd really like the stats either in scientific (m/s; m/s²) or in mean units and not a mingle-mangle of both.

Fun fact: m/s is almost half of mi/hr. So a squid would have a top speed of somewhere around 30-40, I forget. I support this.

Just to be clear, all units are metric.  Kilometers, meters, etc...

We can do something about turning km/h to m/s.  That's how I look at data, I don't know why it's displayed the way it is.

Wait, why did I ask the engineers to make it km/h when I look at it in m/s all day long?

What is wrong with me?

Another one: please show the reload times for weapons, not the reload speed... what does that even mean? reload speed: 0,18? 0,18 seconds to reload? I don't think so. 0,18 reloads per second? May make sense.... but doesnt make any sense to display it that way. (you reload only once, then shoot. You want to know how long a single reload takes, not how often you can reload in a second)

I second that. It'd be nice to have reload times listed in seconds.

I don't really know if this fits here, but for the sake of bumping: Add info about the arming time to the Echidna in both the Wilsons and on the Loadout please.

Also, is there a chance you add the AoEs of weapons in m to the weapon charts?

Well when you find out how fast the ships should be going, you'll probably be disappointed. Specially when you compare them to the jet fighter geese which fly through Fjords. No ship can catch those things, its nuts.

Bump. I second the reload times and burst radii for the guns.

fire rate would be an interesting stat as well.

Rate of fire is given there and given in 1/s.
I'd like the chances to set fires though.

Ingame? I can't find it here (http://gunsoficarus.com/gameplay/weapons/)

Should have cleared up I mean the Notes and Reports ingame but I thought everybody understood that and everybody else seemed to have gotten it right.....
Also, I stopped to use that table as it is constantly out of date.

you should hide all the info apart from the name and have people guessin xD that'd be fun :3

Indeed. Those geese have evolved special glands which secrete almost 100% pure jet fuel, and their wings act as makeshift ramjets.

I see the initial suggestion was put in. Can we get the reload times instead of reload speed too?
