Title: Just trying to gauge interest
Post by: Tipster on September 03, 2013, 03:35:12 pm
Who would be interested in watching or participating in an organised round robin style tourney with rounds being held weekly or fortnightly?

Also what features would you like to see in such a tournament, some ideas to consider below:

- Several matches being streamed throughout the day, building up to the "Main Event", the round's most anticipated face-off
- Pre-match build up with up to date stats and specs for the teams, pundits on hand to offer opinions and audience participation via use of live polls, twitter and twitch chat
- A post-match report, summary and analysis followed with interviews from members of both teams
- A short video at the end of the round summing up the action, scoreline and current league table standings

- Multiple streams going on at the same time covering all of a particular match, with a main stream and flicking between the action and with constant updates...
- Custom game types? (This may take a lot of work, and will probably need support from Muse)
- A variety of maps and gametypes

Just throwing a few ideas out there... let me know what you think below

As a concept it's cool. The only thing is there kinda already is a weekly tournament in the form of the Sunday Rumble.

And Cogs, though not everybody plays every week. As it is, it's hard to play in both, a third might be hard. But if you could fit it in, it'd be great.

A more relaxed sort of weekly tournament is exactly what Cake is looking for.

90% sure that we'd be in, but send details my way once you figure them out.

Are the Sunday Rumbles relaxed?

I mean, I knew they weren't Cogs-level, but I thought they were pretty serious.

Obviously, you know more about them than I do, and if you say they're more relaxed than I originally thought, I might do a little more looking into them.

They're pretty relaxed as far as I can tell. Quite a few new teams go in to find their feet, and more experienced ones enter with more experimental builds.

I mean... what do you consider "relaxed"?

What really makes the Sunday Rumble so relaxed is that absoloutely any group of eight people can play, there's no deadlines for entering or organizing your team, and if you lose, there's always next week!

We've had matches where both teams have agreed to go all-pilot, and we've had teams providing substitutes for eachother. There are some pretty intense matches but on the whole, the Sunday Rumble has pretty laid-back atmosphere.

Maybe if this wasn't a weekly thing.

Possibly monthly?

There kinda is... but at that really means is you just have to come up with something different, like I did with the Tuesday night thing :)

Monthly could work, and I think the crazy gamemodes is the way to go if anything to make it stand out more ... I just kind of need to figure out a way of doing it.
