Yep.
Let's just talk about him, the man, the legend, the combo of Bill Nye the Science Guy and Davy Crockett, Sir Isaac Phillips.
-
I saw him mentioned in the latest lore news and I saw some commotion around the name in the forum, but I don't know anything about him. Why is he such a big deal? Is he a "community-inside-joke-made-real"?
-
That is the case. We had a thread called the "description thread" where one person would say something like "John Stalwart's Flying Boot" or something, and the next poster would come up with an explanation of the thing. I forget exactly what it started as, but Isaac Phillips turned out to be this madman inventor guy who did a bunch of stuff with airships and rockets when combined together, and also invented a massively buffed version of the squid, and was, like a proper gentleman, never to be found without a teacup, even when in a coma in the blast crater from a failed... experiment.
I'll see if I can dig up some history on him.
-
"Inventor of the squid, Sir Issac Phillips was a daredevil inventor. Originally designed as a pleasure craft and speedboat, the squid found new use as a combat vessel when Sir Issac Phillips fitted it with 76 guns and crewed it with 100 people. This worked extremely well, until the sicknesses the shipmen carried started spreading out of control. After that fateful trial run, the squid's guns were reduced to 3, and now only carries 4 crewmembers."

The good old days eh?

And then it continued. We need to start that thread up again.

The description thread?
But who remembers him in the Rocket Race with his tea cup Chippy where he won second I believe in distance but somewhat crashed further on.
-
He crashed into, and discovered the Dresden Commune, what a mess that was.
-
Oh I just realised the Sir actually makes sense, since he got knighted
Don't forget his nemesis Doctor Alister Grendel
-
I had completely forgotten Grendel. :D
-
How could you forget the man who accused Phillips of fraud?!
-
I should like to point out that both Sir Issac Phillips and the Pirate King are orphans.
Thank you very much for that super informative post.
Get to work creating the rest of the script. I didn't say you could stop to talk.
Just think, if Spaceman had continued we could have had a Pirates of Penzance GoIO edition

Funnily enough, that's not the first time someone linked that page here :P
-
Any relations to persons living or dead is entirely coincidental.

Wasn't that Tim who did that?

As of yet unborn people, such as the esteemed Mr. Phillips, are of course completely factual and prophetic.
-
Sir Issac Phillips exists in any and all universes, no matter what, this is a universal constant.
-
I apologize for being new, but who exactly is he? I still don't understand from this thread so if someone could redirect me to a correct thread or explain that would be great and I'd give you a hug but its the internet so I cant.

A while back on the old forum we had a forum game called "The Description Game", as stated previously someone would say a phrase like "Safrik Cannon" and the next person would describe it and then post a phrase for someone else to describe. At one point I posted the phrase "Sir Issac Phillips", the description given is stated earlier in this thread. After the point he just became a recurring character in the description game, from scientist to rocket racer. He fought off pirates with naught but a tea cup. And now he's canon and that is more of a shout out to those few of us from that thread that still remain.

Well, it's official, Sir Isaac Phillips is part of the lore, as told in the Chaladon faction feature.
