I was just thinking to myself today: Damn. I wish my spire could strafe.
-edit- I just realized that this sounds kind of sarcastic. It isn't. Imagine how useful it would be to fly from left to right across a clearing, from cloud to cloud, all with your heavy gun pointed at where the baddies most likely are.

I ilke that spire strafing idea, would make it much more useful without being too game breaking ( although I'm not basing this thought on anything realy ) and would give main engie something interesting to do lol

Exactly, however i do support boarding a broken ship with powerup items in it than actualy boarding an enemy than having abilities at this point. Even though my idea is unpolished on paper... like that. heh...

What if both teams board the abandonned ship at the same time ?

The power up all idea sounds kind of Quake arena to me - power ups spawn in determined points which you try to grab so you can dominate - which in GoIOL translates as a moonshine fest followed by perpetual pwnage till match end and/or rage quit.
One of the cool things about GoIOL is that the equipment is the same, skill alone makes it special.

I think we need a new pilot tool that will let us strafe.

This. Imagine sniper Galleons backpedalling... Or any sniper ship, for that matter. Closing in doesn't need to be made harder.

The other two major sniper ships I see (Merc/art Mobula and Merc/LJ or Flak Spire) can already Backpedal.
But I agree, a backpedalling Galleon would be scary.

Way to ruin gameplay in any game = add powerups.
Seriously, whenever a game has those, the strategy turns into ...rush rush rush to powerups, get them = pwn all, fail to get them = die repeatedly. Then sit there camping the powerup spawn. I got so tired of it UT. We'd be doing CTF battles and people would be only concerned with camping the powerups. Was like, guys...flag? Cap? Nope, just killing each other over a stupid damage amp while the team cries for support fire.

I like the special abilities apart from the pyra having NO downsides.. maybe reduced would be better? Also for the galleon how about a batten down the hatches special.. armour raises and RESISTANCE to certain damage types. Like piercing fire and impact?

Felt the same about Q3 Arena.
