Title: Cog Chronicles II
Post by: Sammy B. T. on June 24, 2013, 12:39:38 pm
Hey there, Sammy B. T. here. I wanted to show y'all something I have been putting a minimal amount of effort into. I call it the Cog Chronicles (Or the Chrogicles, if you will). My goal as one might guess from my title is to basically chronicle the cogs and provide information that is both useful, comprehensive, and accessible. In the last season of cogs, finding out information was scattered across bracket, preview, and tipping threads. To fix this I made a prezi. For those not knowing what a prezi is, imagine a power point presentation where all the slides are laid out on a table and you can go back and forth between the slides. At the moment it is only five frames including a boring title frame. This is something I will be updating constantly and so if you see a mistake, can think of something to add, or just have anything you want me to know, simply tell me and I shall do my best to strive for the right.

If you click any of the words in this line, you will be transported via the internet to my prezi! (http://prezi.com/orftg7-lyfzq/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy)

I am slightly worried that that link might not update past what is currently saved. If that is the case, I am sure I can talk to a CA to get this fixed.

Right now I plan on having at minimum the weekly initial rosters in both "line view" and "cog view." Currently I am thinking of adding things such as, but not limited to;
Tipping information frames
Results frames
Short Summary of matches frames
Accounts of the romantic/sensual escapades of qwerty and swallow...frames

This should be fun. Please though, comment on, criticize, tear asunder my work. Can't wait to hear from you. I would like to know what each teams abbreviated name should be. 4 letters or less.

A quick note. This is not official, if something I say here contradicts anything that Swallow says, defer to Swallow.

There is a good chance my ordering of the upcomers cogs is a bit off as there were some rule changes, and some discrepancies between what was typed, who won in cogs, and the seeds given in the stream.

For Merry Men we usually use MM rather than ZMM, so in the next iteration you can probably change that if you'd like. Other than that it's a nice layout to see all the information, I'll probably keep it bookmarked as long as you're planning on keeping it up to date.

I like this. You should add actual rotating "Cogs" with the team names...

I may have a new art project now...

A year ago I made a prezi that had a rotating view. I am unsure if I can make the wheel itself spin.

Also I changed ZMM to MM. Edits I make to the prezi will also show up in the link in the OP. Lesson here, changes are easy, let me know what needs to be changed.

I've added a match page for week 1 which I will obviously update after the matches to include map, time, score and winner.

Btw in case you are unfamiliar with prezi, you can click and drag on the screen to go from slide to slide as opposed to using the arrows. I did this to allow for quick travel between the coming weeks. Any corrections, suggestions, and whatnot, let me know.

Just got back home, went to qwerty's twitch page and could not find a recording of the stream. Was it recorded elsewhere? If there is no record of it, can I just get a brief rundown of who officially played and won?

I know I am really late in doing this, was unmotivated since I missed the entirety of week 1. However, have updated this to the best of my knowledge.

Hey, remember when I was good about keeping this updated? My bad. However, with the lack of stunning visual graphic from the ones in charge, I once again update my prezi!

Week 5 is now put into the Prezi (http://prezi.com/orftg7-lyfzq/cogs-layout/). I will add the match page as soon as we get the maps. We are getting 4 matches this week all of which should be fantastic.

The first match will see the Gentleguard (A Gentleman team) face off against the Semenovskiy Flot. Doing some google detective work I am assuming they are a Russian team. Semenovskiy was a title to one of the oldest Imperial Russian Army guard regiments. Flot I am fairly sure is just the anglicized spelling of флот meaning fleet. The Gentlemen are one of the most established clans in this game but we all know the havoc newcomer Russians bring to Cogs lest we forget about the rise of the Polaris Company.

The winner of that match will go on to fight the Pastafarians. PaFa has sadly been sticking in the slow rotation of the Upcomers Cogs ever since week 1. Hopefully the time off hasn't rusted their skills too much so that they can give a good match to winner of the Newcomers Proving Ground.

For the entry match for the Challengers Cog we see the Zill's Merry Men face off against The Raft (a Duck team). The equally famous and infamous Zill along with his Merry Men have been wracking up an impressive competitive streak, not just in the Cogs but also taking the 1st place spot for Urz's "We hate field trips" mini rumble. Blocking them from entry to the Challengers Cog is the Raft, a brawly team of Ducks. During their attempt at dethroning the Paddling they were able to apply the pressure and nearly pulled out a win against the reigning champs. With loss meaning falling into the upcomer's rotation, neither team can afford to leave anything on the field or in the skies.

Lastly we have the Black Flight Squadron facing off against the Paddling (The original Duck team). BFS finds themselves in the same position they found themselves in Week 2 of the Cogs. Fresh off a win against the Flying Dutchmen using an unorthodox mine strategy, BFS is looking to turn in their experience fighting Ducks and hoping to cash out a win. However,  sitting on the throne they have held for months, the Paddling has no intention of abdication. The Paddling bring with them weeks of experience playing in the highest skilled competitive play Guns of Icarus online has to offer. Truly this match will see some of the best crews fly on some of the most tactically flown ships.

Welcome to Cogs 5

You know, originally I was just going to write down my findings on our new Russian friends. That kind of snowballed...

I really love those match descriptions. Whoever's casting should steal it as an epic introduction to each match.
