Sometimes while playing GoIO, I briefly hear a bit of the Jaws theme. It's always a bit quiet and hard to notice. I'm dead serious. I'm not imagining it, or hearing it coming from somewhere else. Muse has without a doubt snuck it into the game. Once again, I'm being serious about this. Has anybody else noticed?

What soundtrack?
-
Sorry, what?
-
I tend to hum it over crew chat when I am sneaking up on an enemy ship from underneath.

Glad I'm not the only one :D

When do you hear it? The starting theme? The lobby theme? The drums theme in combat?

During the match, usually when there's no music going.
-
I'm seriously baffled that I seem to be the only one noticing this. All jokes about humming and whatever aside, has anybody else heard it? I've heard it multiple times during a single match, clearly enough to be sure that I'm not imagining it, and with absolute certainty that it is coming from the game. Can somebody from Muse maybe comment on this? It's been driving me crazy.
-
I've never heard it, but I keep my game volume set pretty low so that I can hear voice chat clearly.
-
LMAO sunderland I know you're trolling here but....It's the damn combat drums when you're in a cloud near an enemy but don't have him spotted.

I'm not trolling! I'm really serious about this. I posted it in the Pit because it's not really important enough to be discussed in another board. And no, it's not the drums. I've heard it moments after my spawn, far off from anybody else, and it didn't sound anything like the drums either.
I need to start recording matches just to prove this.
-
I have never heard of a game bug where music from a source the developers don't have a license for is unexpectedly played for one and only one user. Perhaps there is a cellist next door who only plays during your gaming hours.
-
I'm thinking of downloading a video recording program right now just to prove it.
-
Yeah this is almost like LDT and his skywhales.... and all those other guys and their aliens
-
I don't care if you believe me or not. I know what I've heard.
Has anybody at least heard anything vaguely resembling a bit of the Jaws theme? Anybody?
-
lol MUSE is trolling your game sundie, Keyvias is just letting loose evil laughs every time you post in this thread. OR maybe it's Cullen.
-
It's been happening since before Cul became a dev, so maybe it's Keyvias :P
But seriously, I'm gonna go through the game's sound files to see if I can find anything.

Hmmm, I wonder what this file called jaws-theme-for-trolling-sunderland.mp3 is for?
-
What file type are the sound effects in this game?
-
Soundtrack should be in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Guns of Icarus Online\Guns of Icarus Online Soundtrack
Alternately, you can right click Guns of Icarus in your Steam library, click properties, then the "Local Files" tab. From there, the "Browse Local Files..." button will take you to the folder containing the soundtrack.
The media player "VLC" will play the AIF files without any additional plug-ins. Not sure about other players, you might run into trouble.

Unsure if this is a Kickstarter-reward thing.
-
Nah, I have the soundtrack, but I think this is more of a sound effect (since it's just the two notes, not the whole thing).
-
just for you Sunderland, I'm going to turn up my music volume to see if I can pick it out.... though I'm very sceptical
-
I am too. I keep on telling myself it's not happening, but then I hear it. Again, again, and again.
This'll just make it sound even dumber and more trollish, but it happens to me most often when I reload a gun after respawning.
-
are you sure it's not just when you fly against zill.... he does have shark like tendencies...
-
Look, I'm serious!
-
Okay, let us consider this as a real thing. Most likely Sunder here hears the Jaws in midst another sound that has nothing to do with anything, but it is still there. I do believe the sound is there, but from where does it originate still puzzles me.
I'll try to keep my ears open, but no promises as I usually keep my music down to hear the voicechat. :)
-
Thank you. Finally somebody who understands.
As I have previously said, it may not be the Jaws theme per se, but it's the same two notes. I need to get a recording of this happening some time.
-
I recommend that you record as many games as you can, then when you run into it upload it.
-
Piemanlives, you levelled your pilot rank up. We are no longer on speaking terms.
I'll see about downloading some video recording software some time... I'm interested in uploading videos anyways.
-
THREE OTHER PEOPLE HEARD IT TODAY
Victory is sweet.
It seems to come from mortar reloads, possibly among other things. Try it.
-
all my volumes turned up, and I was not able to hear anything like that.... Sunderland........ side note, I may now be partially deaf in my right ear....
-
Your fault.
But really, shadowsteel heard it, Badfoot hears it all the time apparently, and one of my crew members heard it.

Badfoot, I love you.

totally edited no truth to that!

indeed

Wait what is it that is the Jaws thing? i couldn't hear it; is it in the background, really quiet what?
Btw sunderland you sound like a crazy conspiracy theorist. :P
-
Sunderland.... i may know what your on about now... is it that sound like a hydraulic piston thing; the 2 notes?
-
Exactly.
-
Poor Sunderland, the madness finally caught up to him. I will miss him when the men in white come to take him away.
-
Nope he has a valid point. Although i can explain it. *puts on glasses and pipe* It is simply a sound effect they added to the engines to make it sound like Steam pistons going up and down, and steam been pressured out each time.
Simples, ho did you NOT know before... noob :)
-
Its actually a three tone string, the first two being the "JAWS" notes. It occurs at the end of the mortar reload animation. Due to the double reload bug thing you get to hear it twice in the clip.
-
i couldn't hear that....
-
The sound is familiar to me but to conflate it with the theme from the movie jaws is a sign of deep psychological scars (probably Zill related). The sound of a mortar reloading must set off feelings of helplessness and inadequacy that Sunderland's troubled mind connected with being alone in the middle of the ocean with a shark circling. The jaws theme was simply a surrogate through which he could project his fear of being abandoned in a hostile environment onto this perfectly innocent action. It is ok Sunderland you can talk about it, we won't judge (much).
-
*monocle falls off*
How profound and thought through...
Bravo sir!
*claps*
-
Either that, or it's just a sign that it sounds a lot like the Jaws theme and the association was an easy one to make.
-
oh my god... re-watching it, I'm actually hearing it D:
-
gg wp
-
I hear the two notes you're referring to, but I have no idea how you managed to pick up on that and how you associated it with the Jaws theme. It took me three listens or so before I could even hear the notes that could be construed as the Jaws theme. Congratulations on superhuman hearing and sound association, I guess?
-
Devs, plz add. After you hear it 100 times you get attacked by skywhalesharks
-
I'd feel bad for all the poor mortar gunners.
-
You tweakin' dawg
