Title: List of teachers
Post by: Mowinckel on May 27, 2013, 03:00:38 am
So I was thinking, there is teaching games to help the players, and I think being taught while playing is the best way to learn.
And I like teaching people willing to learn, I am sure others do too.

So I am going to put my in game name here, feel free to friend me ingame, PM me and ask for a lesson, I will join your crew in the position you need and  teach you about the position you want.

I am going to update this if others post that they want to be on the teacher list too so that every available teacher is always on the top post, or remove them if they do not want to not anymore.

Teacher you can contact and the classes they teach

Captain Coldcurse: Any class
Chrinus: Any class
dragonmere: Any class
KaLeu RainerZuFall: Any class, Also in German
Kyren: Pilot and Engi, as well in German
Mowinckel: Pilot and Engi

Captain Coldcurse

I can teach you anything you want.
I only demand 1 thing. You have to listen and understand. (and only buff skrimskraw's left engine)

Shinkurex

Basic understanding of engineering (aka don't ask because I break stuff not build :P)
Pretty good at both gunning and piloting and happy to teach

Kyren

I'll be happy to help you out with the basics of piloting and engineering. Also in German! I also know a thing or too about which ammunition to use on which gun, and I can tell you what to aim for with whichgun, but.. better don't expect me to use a Lumberjack :P

KaLeu RainerZuFall

Happy to help you with any class or questions, just write me. I may be able to help with the basics but also some advanced ... uh ... stuff.
Just ask and don't be shy!
I expect that you listen though, and don't expect to learn everything in just one session.

Chrinus

I've a solid grasp on all aspects of gameplay and am always willing to answer questions or concerns about builds, priorities, or execution. Hunt me down if you're new and interested in learning. As long as you're willing to learn, I'm glad to have you on board!

Shouldn't everyone in this thread just apply for CA status? I'm not sure what the difference is.

That a CA is not only there for training new players. While that could be seen as the most important point, ( is is, in just my personal opinion!), you're also required to give support and contribute to the community as a CA. Meaning, CA work includes starting and running discussions on the forum, searching for bugs, showing a proper behaviour at all times (role model, if you'd like to call it so), updating Wikis & other information.. contributing where you can. You can technically be a CA and do a extremely good job without ever telling a Powder Monkey where to aim his gun. It's a much broader field than "just" teaching. You might feel like taking some new lads aboard your ship today, but as a CA you'll be kind of expected to do it every day, and that might enrich your playing as well as limit it.

Oh, and being part of the community for 2 months is a quite high hurdle too.

I'd be happy to help,
IGN = Cheesy Crackers
I can help teach pretty much all the classes (But as pilot getting me to teach you how to pilot the squid is a bad idea)

I can teach piloting lessons.
My Steam is the same as my IGN.

Enjix

I'd be glad to help with engineering, gunning, builds, and tools... just don't expect me to fly anything (well  :P).

Same as that, but I can teach piloting - or at least the theory. Just don't ask me to pilot well ^^

Updated, I'm glad to see so many people get involved :) You're all aware that we're usually in need of Trainers for the Training Days? :D

I've never officially taught before, but feel free to contact me when you need me. I don't know the specifics of the training days, but I am more than happy to take new players under my wing. :)

Well, if you need more people sign me up for this, I want to believe I'm capable to teaching newbies if they are willing to listen. I'll play as any class though preferrably pilot.

I've put my share of hours into the game, so i think I can give some piloting lessons, basic engineering lessons, and gunning in theory (what rounds to bring for which gun, different damages, etc.). Just don't ask me to actually shoot.

Oh, I can also give a quick rundown of things to do to make your captain/crew like you.

There you go, Gentlemen:

https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/board,35.0.html

Training Days are usually Wednesday, 9 PM CET for the EU Training matches, and 8:30 PM EDT for the US Training matches. Check back with Shinkurex for the US Time though, I might not be right on that one!

I'll update the first post here with your names!

Well, I'm on the training days, so I guess I should put my name down for this as well. I'd say my expertise lies in Engineer, but I've a full understanding of Pilot and Gunner.

If you can't do, teach. And since I suck at most gunning, I'll say I can teach everything.

Don't be hard on youself, you're an excellent Gatling gunner.

I applaud the training days, but there are times when something impromptu is necessary. If there is a lull in the games I'll often put offers of basic training on general chat, and then there are times when I have crew that really need a short sandbox session.
