The commendation system is a nice addition to the game. However there are times where I don't feel the enemy captain deserves a commendation, but a member of their crew does. For example when my ship unloads volley after volley into an enemy ship and yet it refuses to die. There are some engineers aboard that ship that deserve some recognition. Like wise if my ship gets hit at absurd ranges at a difficult angle, the enemy gunner should be recognized.
Currently I pay my respect in the lobby chat, but I would like a formal mechanism to praise the enemy crew just as I praise my own crew. It doesn't have to be as easy as giving commendations to my own crew. In fact a couple extra steps would make the commendation seem a bit more valuable since the recipient would know the giver wasn't randomly clicking buttons.

At first I read that as "I want to command the enemy crew"
-
I do that already, but most of the time my command is "Die!"
-
Hamster i completely agree with you there. Saluted!

The commendation says it's for sportsmanship. I think that's why you don't get the option to commend other crews--you didn't have to deal with them the whole match on a sportsmanship level.

Yep, Me too XD

I would love to be able to commend the other team, especially their engies. It baffles me as to why we can't do this now. :\

It might be a bug but I was able to commend all the enemy and my own full team a few days ago.

I totally agree!
Despite enormous fire-power from the dark place below us, some ships just manage to stay alive no matter what. Those engineers require some real credits for that work!
Great suggestions. Salute!

Agree! I want to be able to commend whoever is deserving!
-
Definitely agree, especially for a ship that puts up a good fight even after their pilot leaves rather than just dropping.

I agree, it would be nice to be able to do this. However, I can see why we currently can't do that.
