This community is great. There are lots of really great people out there. But you know what? Being nice doesn't always work. Sometimes you just want to boast. I'm putting this thread up here so that you can all brag about your achievements, big or small, without being looked upon as being full of yourself.
Get bragging!
-
I'm the best GoIO player ever... of all time
-
I was a better squid flyer than most, if not all, players I encountered when I first started playing this game.
-
From time to time pilots tell me things like "I have no idea how you kept us alive there", "We would have died with a lesser engineer", "You were like fucking MacGyver back there", and say things like "Sunderland is among the best", "I have the best engineer in the world", among other things.
(note: please don't judge me for bragging. These are all real quotes from highly regarded players)
-
I killed Ridgedog (Behind-The-Scenes Guy at the Yogscast) once.
-
I can backup sunderland's statement, I've said each of those things about him at one time or another.
I've been told often by a wide diversity of players that I am "insane", "unfit to fly a ship", and "nucking futs", typically following their TOTAL DEFEAT by my newbie multi language pickup crews of trolls that roflstomp them down into the pits of oblivion!
WOOOoOoo! CLOUD WHALES!
-
When it gets to moving targets beyond 1500m range I am one of the best lumberjack gunners;- and I've more than once gotten multiple regional chat shoutouts after such a match, "Phoebe+LB=OP"

Very true. You're one of the best lumberjack gunners I've seen other than Morblitz.

I have no limbs and I'm one of the best pilots in the game. *Drops mic*

*Picks up mic*
What were you holding this with then if you have no limbs?
*Realisation hits*
Eww.
*Drops mic*

Err, just played a game of Water Hazard where I managed to hit a moving ship through a cloud at 4000m. Not sure how I did it, It's not as if I have any particular talent with the Mercury or even gunning.
-
Err, just played a game of Water Hazard where I managed to hit a moving ship at 4000m. Not sure how I did it, I'm clearly not the best merc shooter around around.
It was an amazing shot indeed.

I guess the merc was loaded with lesmok?
-
I want you all to know, when Paradox beats you in a match, and you feel like crap for losing so completely, he literally just face rolled you.
You were face rolled.
Let that sink in.
-

It couldn't have been 4000m, then. The merc's range is 3000m (without accounting for drop).
Impressive nonetheless :)
-
There was a lot of drop....
-
There was a lot of drop....
So it would have been less than 3000m. Regardless, it sounds impressive. Hitting from 2500+ is tough, even with the merc.
-
I'm a pretty good pilot.
-
I'm a pretty good pilot.
And the award for understatement of the century goes to...
-
I'VE HAD THE CASTLEVANIA SONG "BLOODY TEARS" IN MY HEAD FOR 12 HOURS
...
......
maybe that's not something to brag about...
-
And you haven't killed yourself yet? that is an achievement.
-
My crew and I, the pilot, flew a squid with a harpoon on the back in Canyons. We got multiple kills by attaching to the enemy ship and using kerosene to launch the enemies into walls. The final kill was us flying over a ledge and pinning the enemy Spire into the rocks by keeping the harpoon line taut.
And Varuuu was streaming. He said he's gonna add it to his 'awesome moments' reel.
-
Fjord winning Engy while using xbox remote booyah
Longest win streak 98 as pilot
Can out Engy anyone
The players I've trained go on to have great goi careers
Even the guys I've yelled at have turned out good that's how great I am
-
Can out Engy anyone
Lol, I'd like to see you try :P
-
Longest win streak 98 as pilot
I believe Zill's is in the region of 220. Yes, I have seen a screenshot.
-

I need training...
-
I may or may not be the Sexiest streamer alive :P

Which reminds me, we need to have a hug out session, eyes open and stare. See who breaks away first.

So

I forged the Meta. That's some Hephaestus stuff right there, my man. I MADE YOU.

I was there (I shot the harpoon), I also want to add that I spent the next 4 games I captained trying to duplicate the maneuver. I succeeded once.

So
So it isn't the highest pilot win streak....
-
I,didn't say it was the highest I said and or meant it was my highest......wait till I see you on Skype it's on
-
I may or may not be the Sexiest streamer alive :P
He's not. It's conclusive. Anyone who has him on skype can testify to that.
In other news: I am the best field gunner in GoI. I destroy components. Not that it matters much since I've also transcended the game in such a way that now I simply float above, mocking all who struggle to remain aloft around me while laughing at their futile attempts to survive. Oh yes. I'm a commentator.
-
There is nothing that I don't do. there are some ships that only say "Shink did it!" cause I'm that good :P
-

I love you Shink, but if there was ever a game mechanic where you could potentially destroy a component that you were fixing, you would manage a high percentage, lol.
-

Gotta get those achievement somehow, haha.

this one time, someone totally said i was a decent pilot.

Hey I said that there was nothing I don't do.... nothing about "There is nothing I cannot do".... Engineering just happens to be something I simply cannot do :P
-
I have no limbs and I'm one of the best pilots in the game. *Drops mic*
Holy shit, you actually don't! How the hell do you play video games?
-
Papa Paradox is obviously some kind of tactical genius who can win games through his sheer charisma and personality coming over voice chat. With three able bodied crew members and the dulcet tones of Papa Paradox's voice coming through the speakers his ship is nigh invincible.

DISCLAIMER HO!
Feel free to disregard all of my conclusions about bioshock infinite in that video; I was in the latter part of a 24 hour gaming session so all the conclusions I made their were born from sleep deprivation...
Also yes, my voice is pretty sultry...
-
Just watched the video, and I want to remove any implied sarcasm in my previous post. Papa Paradox dulcet tones will carry the day.
-
Like I said, he face rolls you. Why do you think I joined the Dandy Lions!? Man has magic.
-
I'm the best at flying backwards into things while not looking and convincing my crews it was a tactical maneuver.
-
Had a match with a newbie captain on a galleon yesterday, I'm in a goldfish. He rams me, and an enemy pyramidion that are locking horns. By some weird physics I end up behind the pyramidion, and the galleons broad side is lined up on the pyramids starboard. We opened up at the same time and just annihilated that poor ship.
-
Squids can't kill me

Squids can't kill me
Too bad we killed you 5-0 yesterday with a squid/goldfish team. <3

The first sixty seconds. Goodness. Awesome shooting, HamsterIV.
I'm in class, and this is my first time finding the video, so I haven't checked the audio. From what I remember, things were pretty crazy, though.
-
I was able to shoot through the clouds so well in a match yesterday that dragonmere thought that it was the AI doing it.
-
Water hazard
Me : squid
all 7 kills....
AND
completed the "white whaler" achievement in 5 matches = MASTER WHALER
-
I was part of an all lv10 boat
-
Am part of one of the lowest (maybe even the lowest) level crews/teams in the cogs - and still do ok.
-
I was Zill's captain once. The good old days *sighs*
-
I'm really awesome at crashing into the wall when trying to defend the point in Scrap.
-
Poking a galleon to death using a spire three times without dying.
-
I was Zill's captain once. The good old days *sighs*
And I was your engineer. Trial by fire for sure on a galleon as my first engineering endeavors.
-
Poking a galleon to death using a spire three times without dying.
Probably wasn't your squid, but in one of the games last night the ship I was on was killed by a squid ram. It was embarrassing.
-

And now the student has become the master.
-
No one has a finer or better waxed moustache than me!
Mohahaha!
-
I once tricked an enemy spire into giving me cover from his ally's hwacha. I was flying the "Mo Dakka Dakka Dakka" my Pyramidion on dunes against two hwacha Spires. My Ally had died recently and I was trying to stay alive. My latest maneuver had left one spire beneath me and the other one at a distance. So I start backing up while spraying the spire beneath with my gat/flack front guns. The spire at a distance opens up with his hwacha at the same time the spire beneath me hits helium. The result was the entire hwacha volley striking the spire that used helium. Since I was effectively using one spire as a shield from the other spire, I was able to kill one then the other without taking concentrated fire from both at the same time.
-
Why does this sound so familiar... -.-

I'm the best level 1 Pilot / Lumberjack Gunner!

Keon has won the internets, I lay down my legion of whales at his feet and await fair judgement for my deeds in this world he has so rightfully conquered.
-
I fear that Keon is the false prophet taught in Bacon lore, and should be shunned for claiming to win the interwebs....I will not bow to his tyranical rule :P
-
In certain maps i fly right thru pipes

All might to Keon, our liberator!

Burn the Bacon, all food shall hence forth be Kosher!
Ziek Keon!

I'm Asian, nuff said.
-
Yeah, well I'm Caucasian, which, as the name implies, is like Asian but with more... Actually, no. I'm not going to make that joke.
But I'm Canadian! Paradox and I were going around getting murdered by MNS showing our Canadian fighting spirit today.
-
I'm Asian, nuff said.
Pieman high-five.... Asian powers activate. :P
-
Fact: While Smith is the most common last name in the US, Australia, and the UK, it's only second in Canada. After Li. We love our Asians <3

By our powers combined, we are captain Riceball!

I got 100 thumbs up on a youtube comment, and got replied to by a famous youtuber with many thousands of subs. Not sure why that's an achievement.
-
when i get bored of flying a ship. . i just make a new one, just for me! *Developer braggin about developing*
-
Is that how balance changes come?
"HEY GUYS! I WANNA FLY SPIRE NEXT WEEK, KK?"
-
assuming they let me in charge of things like that. . . . wouldn't be to far off. . . hell, if they let me i'd make a developer only ship, but that wouldn't be fair at all. . . speed of the squid, power of the galleon? god knows what horrors i'd unleash. . .
-

Yeah, and a giant "Omega Cannon" to top it off.
-
i was the one who made this prototype gun after all. . . just saying. . . had issues with it since each bullet was the size of a small gun. . . well that and the fact that the gun was as long as a junker. .

Know what's even scarier than that howitzer? The howitzer back when everybody put it in every gun slot on their ship. Most OP gun I've ever seen in GoIO.

Ahhh, good times to be a sniper.
-
I want to play a ship, that only has that sole giant village killer on it. It'll be slower than cold molasses going up hill in winter, have a slow turn rate, and a one shot magazine, no turret turn radius. Pilot and captain have to get on target together, it can elevate up and down. Boooom! Giant shell ejects out of a side breach, tumbling to the ground while a cloud of smoke temporarily obscures the ship for 5 seconds, new slug loaded, Fire! It would be the ship killer.
Man, that be a super fun gun to use, knock stationary ships out of capture points with a single shot from a super vulnerable ship.
-
Just remember Newton's third, it's not just a good idea, it's the law. Unless awkm decides to use his god powers to cancel out a fundamental law of physics.
-
Did somebody say moonshine squared?
-
Ha sir! I throw your "laws" out in the face of my sub-par education and belligerent rhetoric and big words I took from snapple caps!
Psha, laws. Don't need no stinkin laws.
-
I have a sunburn that resembles zebra stripes on my left arm!
...
wait I don't think that counts.
-
I felt like Chuck Norris with my ramming today.
The enemy captains didn't decide where their ship was pointed. My ramming decided.
Their engineers didn't get to decide how long they survived. My ramming decided.
Their gunners didn't get to choose when to shoot. My ramming decided.
The spectators didn't decide where to look. My ramming decided.
That would be really good if the other team didn't have one useless ship most of the time.
-
Looking at my longest win streak, it's probably not very good. 26 matches as an engi. I have a feeling that that's terrible.
-
I have a sunburn that resembles zebra stripes on my left arm!

wait I don't think that counts.
Woah. No pics, no clicks.
-
I killed a ship with a flair gun. Well technically AstronomyGoon killed it because he pulled the trigger, but I encouraged him from the helm.
I was busy crippling a Pyramidion from with my Hwachafish when a Blenderfish sneaks up behind me and starts popping my balloon. AstronomyGoon shots a flair at the Blenderfish and I kick the throttle into reverse and start sinking. Next thing is know the blenderfish is bouncing on the ground and exploding. My ally was focusing on the Pyramidion and did not contribute to the kill.
-
One time I went full throttle on a airship... for 5.34 seconds and then everyone was amazed at my piloting skills cuz noone else has ever flown full throttle that long before :O
-
You never go full throttle
-
While captianing, I've been told:
"Best squid I've ever flown on."
"OMG. We are the destroyers!"
"No, YOU'RE AWESOME." --After I told my crew that they were awesome.
/Brag
-
Not much of an accomplishment but...
In a month of playing, Ive won more than half of the matches i play as a pilot.. I know im no where near a lot of you guys but with the sudden exsplotoin of player populatoin from the TB/jesse cox/angery joe videos i feel i am one of the better players to come from it.
-
My face when all of you are Honeybadgering.
-
I also know every single word to american Pie ( the song)
-
I'm a grandmaster of the moonshine ramming technique,
I'm a pretty good engineer,
LVL 11 BOOYAH,
I can hit with the merc/gat while im asleep,
also I'm fkin handsome
edit: i'm just awesome in general
-
less than 48 hours played:
level 4 engi
level 4 gunner
level 3 pilot
more wins than losses
almost instantly got a grasp of the game with My captain.. Captain Kuro. (we are Sky vikings... not pirates) ((because we are THAT awesome))
all my chars look amazing.
and because i'm so awesome i've put myself on the bounty list to see if anyone can take me... special bonus if you beat me with Captain kuro as pilot and 'Dat Aft' as a gunner :P

now RL bragging will comence..
just turned 21.
at the age of 16 joined the Royal Air Force as an engineer
Engaged.
got a flat.
suffered from depression 3 times and got through it! (thanks to the RAF with their support really)
And i'm really good at Guns of Icarus :3

lol only 48.
Casual
i beg your pardon but thats what steam says... granted about half of that is when i've left the game on and done other things.. so its probably A LOT less xD
-
Have not played the game too much...figuring out how to get my laptop's pings down. I played with single-digit ping while at college, but now got 60+...
But my IRL bragging...
1. Enrolled in Yale Law School
2. Have a racing license currently
3. Captained my high school baseball and football teams...won a state title with both sports (twice in baseball)
4. Once had a Ferrari 599 during my Jr and Sr years of high school...until i dented the front of it, now stuck with driving a 2003 Ford Mustang :-[
-
I have the most manly name in Guns of Icarus :D
-
This one time I did a thing and it was really awesome.
-
This thread is some kind of joke, right? Hahaha
-
My wife made me a bento box lunch. I win the internets.
It has little octupi on the cover of the box.
-
I'm an grammer nazzi. :)
*Waits for the hate*
-
i think its cool that your a grammar nazi.
But I guess I haven't failed out of college?
Slash have a boring/secure/adult sort of job?
And I play Guns half as much as my friends?
Man, I need to get out more. Or stay in more.
OH! I managed to get my roommate to finish cooking my food cause I needed to pilot. That was a win.
-
I'm a much better cook than my roommate.
-
I'm a much better cook than my roommate.
Plasma's decent, but the fact that he doesn't like tomatoes or, like, half of everything delicious makes his food kind of boring.
-
I think I do quite well for myself within my limited scope of foodstuffs I enjoy.
Also I'm getting better at the whole heat+food+maybesomeotherstuff equation.
Certainly better than I was two years ago, and at least able to make things that taste reasonably unlike butt.
Also DMaximus is my roommate, for those wondering.
-

For what it's worth, your pancakes are delicious.
To get this back on topic, it felt pretty nice to have a couple people compliment my piloting yesterday. Had a pretty good win streak going with Plasma as the other pilot on my team, to the point where some of my crew started saying it was too easy. I find it difficult to brag too much though considering how often I crash into things on Duel at Dawn or Labyrinth.
-
I heard Sunderbro's voice once.
-
wait you guys are roomates? xD
-
wait you guys are roomates? xD
DMax and Plasma are, yes. I've been best friends with both of them for four years now and have lived with them in the past, moving back in with them in September.
-
On fjords, I shot a flare into the clouds, and hit a ship coming out of them. they crashed into the ground, and the metamidion I was on ram killed them (the flare was on the side).
-
Two times have I dominated a 1v3 battle in a squid that was not even my own.
-

Based on your levels, I can only assume you piloted, gunned, and repaired simultaneously.

-
turned a 4-1 losing match into a 5-4 victory
-
Once I was piloting a junker on canyons with a harpoon on front. Somehow I thought it was a good idea to charge both the opposing ships while my ally was away. Rammed one, killing it somehow, while hooking onto the other, before destroying that one with a broadside. It was quite awesome.
-
I single-handedly developed the fastest and most efficient method of repairing Squid engines with one engineer.
-
I single-handedly developed the fastest and most efficient method of repairing Squid engines with one engineer.
Need to record it first :P ..... jk... it is a pretty fast method... I was impressed
-
I've rammed an enemy Goldfish with moonshine only to kill him, ram the Squid behind him and kill it too.
Also got my first Teabag of Destiny last night <3:c
-
The map was Duel at Dawn. It was my first time piloting a Squid, and the other 3 captains were in one as well, but they made it clear that they flew them often enough.
After almost slipping off the hole in the railing and about a minute of being amazed at the speed I could fly around the little map, I decided to get down to business. With my Banshee pointed forward, and my Gat on the right, I played the Squid like I do my Goldfish: take them out before they take you out.
Score ended up 5-1, in favor of my team, ally got caught in a crossfire.
"Mark this captain down boys, he's a good one."
First time I flew with Silverst, someone who became one of my best in-game friends, gunners, and engineers.
-
32 lochnagar kills so far. 25 of them in the past few days
-
Some.. Some people say.. I'm good at Mortar. I- I guess.
-
I'm working on perfecting the tactic of offensive mining.
I've got quite a way to go, but many a time have I dropped back into the lobby after a match hearing "PLEASE. STOP SHOOTING THE MINES AT US."
-
So I playe d match with some good buddy from TCD and well we got on something of a roll. The opposing team got real mad after they thought they had victory when they learned we had been screwing around most of the time and our own engies were trolling each other with dumb cooldowns. In the end we played serious and crushed the enemy team. nce agian they got real mad at us. So next game we screw around again except I'm using a goldfish with a Hellhound on he front and I'm having my gunner load lochnagar while I ram them mercilessly. I got three ram kills in a 2v2 with a goldfish. I felt pretty damn good about it. I don't know why but I just felt this insatiable need to ram my enemies or sit atop the Mobula one of them had. All I have to say n the end though is Moonshine away.
-
Ramming and sitting on Mobulas. It is delicious.
If I can do it without pissing off my gunners (or dying) I do.
-
See we didn't die once. And my gunner knew I was going to be screwing around I had her bring Lochnagar just for it.
-
So technically it isn't a brag more a fact but, I have Twinkie D-Lite to call upon as a gunner. He even defects from a team that would normally win and then I win.
-
I'm pretty good at running into mines.
I don't know if that's something I should be proud of.
I'll make up for it by saying, I've single-handedly killed a fair share of galleons with my professor, the squid.
-

Jesus, that little ship flew up a good 50 feet when you dropped down onto about three I just placed.
It flew up faster than a buffed balloon Mobula with Hydrogen.
EDIT: If you're talking about today, running into them was no fault of yours, we were laying them so you would HAVE to run into them.

Good to know, but this is still the bragging thread. I must brag.
And that little jolt was beautiful. All credit goes to you. I only wish one of us had been filming it.
-
Flew a ship that mined offensively, and won.
-
Got the winning kill of a 4-4 match on a squid with a mine launcher. Also, the guys I usually fly with love giving me mortars to shoot, so I guess I'm pretty good on them...HAH! I'm damn good on them =P.
Edit: For clarity, we were on the squid, they were on a mobula, and it wasn't mines I had preset, I was firing in such a manner that they would detonate shortly after arming.
-
I outmaneuvered a level 7 piloted Squid with a Galleon, that poor thing just could't get away from my left broadside.
Also, I've 1-hit-killed a full hull and full armor Spire with a single ram from my Galleon. Not so hard but it was sooo satisfying.

And if you go back one page, you can see the early stages of offensive mineing.

Well.
I have many leather bound books.
And my Junker smells of rich Mahogany.

I'm better than most people I play with.

I like pancakes

I can learn many things to any apprentice of Evil Laughter with all it's shades...
...except I won't. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I am better at ramkilling with a Mobula than with a Pyramidion.
I ramkilled more Pyramidions with a Mobula than with any other ship.
-
I just won in two matches as a gunner, and I don't even have computer mouse at the moment.
-
I killed a ship once by simply entering an inactive flak fish.
Went in boom, someone died and I got a destroy ship achieve.

Once, Jacob, kirk, (and someone else I'm sorry I forgot you D: )
Got a perfect victory (600-0 with no deaths) on labyrinth.

whoa ur gunner lvls are so low. was this that match I heard about where one of you dealt with fires, one with chem patterns and 2 of you repairs.
switching between chem and extinguisher guy for the helm.
-
Dear god Jacob, stop giving Geo ideas!
-
Too late, hide your powder monkeys!
-
Heh this was back before max level was 45 :o
I thought it was spud. But i thought it would be worse to say the wrong person xD
And yeah it was amazing- we had to call the right person to the right place. "Spanner to hull." "Chem to balloon." It was a really good laugh and it proves that teamwork is the most OP after all. ;)

We did it for a laugh but we promised to try hard at it and it worked! We got into a stable rhythm. We also took different pilot tools for in case we needed to pull some fancy moves, with only one of us sporting a spyglass. Teamwork is the most OP without a doubt.
And ya, this was before the big levels patch so our levels would all be in the 15 - 25 region nowadays. We're badasses we promise.
-
Oh man, I soooo remember this.
Even though we were the same class, we had roles.
Like, upstairs was chem and pipe wrench, and below was fire extinguisher and spanner.
That was just for starting. We had people jumping all around for all sorts of different situations we planned for, almost felt like some sort of anti-duck, running all gunners so tightly.
I actually really recommend you all do that with a crew you're super tight with, it really builds trust and communication.
Also: (and I admit, I got this idea from someone else) I was flying with Welsh Zelda, Admiral Obvious, and Lord Fudge.
Admiral tied a dirty shirt around his head like a blindfold as the pilot; Lord Fudge wore a welding mask (IRL) so his visibility was about 10% as secondary engineer; Welsh Inverted her mouse controls as the gunner; and I took main engineering, telling Admiral where to fly, and helping anyone else as the gunner class.
We played a couple of matches like this, and actually won a few, and managed a *Very* close raid match (within 50 points).

do that against me so I can later brag that I kicked the butt of the most experienced players in the game.

Well, recently I was aboard one of the ships, who kicked some experienced asses. I believe that Replaceable was there? And Lydia? I swear I saw Wundsalz. And Lueosi. Goddammit, why I haven't recorded that fight. Nor did a screenshot.

Meh... I have been noticing the vets are getting a lil sloppy. I mean lvl 5-8 pilots and crew vets... just... how? No excuse either, besides possible substances (soder) and being under the influence (soder again).
I saw some stacked matches and the vets just randomly lose. I mean sure there were instances where I was on the opposite side teaching basic-not-terrible-piloting.
But that alone didn't have to mean my one ship versus 2 vet ship (ally galleon was useless-as expected of noob galleons), brought the game ending in 4-5 to them clutch match.
-
Actually.. it can.. because there's more to just flying well.
-
You must appreciate that one ship of vets =/= that team winning.
The same goes for an almost full crew but with a swabbie or powder monkey.
Any number of things can happen in a game, the powder monkey can not shoot or always miss or take the wrong ammo.
Your engineer could not repair.
Co captains can leave us 3v1 or so.
And most importantly we're also only human and can miss shots.
But the point im really trying to make- there are many things going on in a match that can factor into defeat or a win.
Sometimes we just get outplayed. Especially as newer people are unpredictable and do things we wouldnt expect. SUPRISE BLENDERFISH AAAAA.
So basically don't get disheartened when you see a stacked match. Blame matchmaker- we don't like stacked matches either. Most important part is scramble. :D
I think i waffled a bit um.
[Back in the day i thought Rydr ships were immortal and was genuinely suprised when i started dealing perma damage to one xD]

The vets are allowed off days. :D

I managed to kill BdrLineAzn a few times, Goldie to Goldie.

How is it that this is the first thing I see when I log on lol. But so many battle I have been in and was on a vacation that I may have forgotten which ones were they.

Hmm... Canyon Ambush, both of us were flying a Hwachafish, I had SapphireSage as my engi, and my ally was a motley collection, all thrown into a support Junker. I forget what your ally was. Match ended in a chaotic brawl between me and you, flamers and Hwachas and I think a carronade, oh my! Our allies were just trying to figure out which ship was which.

No. Vets never rest. They are AI, transcending humanity... They live on subroutines and protocols and algorythms dammit.
No humans shoots a lumberjack like that dammit! I wanna know fear again!

I'm slowly learning how to pilot the Spire correctly, which is nice, because it's my favorite* ship. Plus, with the upcoming buff, things are looking up for everyone's tall hunk of metal. One day, Dostoevsky's Beard shall be the most feared stick in the skies

My furthest shot
The moment we respawned on Red Sepulcher, (I loaded Lesmok and) I took a shot on the merc. It destroyed a heavy engine close to 3.5k range with fog blocking my view and only a spot to guide me.

...would be nice, if merc range was not 2.2...

I could destroy any of you with my double mortars. But I'm way too merciful, so I'll let you live, for now.

I once killed Cersebane's ship and he's the best fuckin player in the universe. Seriously! True story! No kidding! I think! I mean he's gotta be, right!?
He's gonna hunt me now for the rest of his life, I know.

I'm really good at offensive mining.

I taught my son how to say two vital captain signals to make my life easier!
"Fix the balloon!"
"Man the Aft guns!"
-
Last week, I played a match against Sparklerfish, Tix, and Apex. Really good offensive miners.
I am proud to say I managed to bring down their mine mobula once, with a very very fresh crew.
Than they wiped us with their mines.
-
There is a forum thread about me

Had a 43 match winstreak in a double flame squid named the DONT JOIN AI ONLY PLEASE. I have since refused to use flames.
Fjords off map full speed warpzone double gat blender spire ram killed a pyra.
Also, my old triple mine pyra with moonshine tar and Renaulde Northwind.
-
Had a match as a blenderfish against a mobula and junker, our ally surrendered and quit as soon as the match started, leaving me to 2v1 for the entirety of it.
Well, I won. 5-0 too. 8)
-
My first match piloting the Mobula was a 4v4, and my team won with no deaths. Many of the kills were accredited to the HMCS Hailfire.
Which is my ship.
-
In a 4v4, I flew a ship I received in the Mini-Game Madness (front mine/side mortar/ back merc squid) in a 4v4 with mostly inexperienced allies with some goofy builds against a team of 4 meta ships (including a 3/4 Ryder mobula) and we won. Mine/mortar squid new meta.

I was shooting the mines on said Mine Squid. I've shot a lot of mines from Vom's horrible completely easy-to-shoot-mines-from, well-flown Squid.
To be fair it does get a lot easier when you break at Lochnagar distance ^^

Now to disappear from the forums for another few weeks...

So yesterday, after a crew scrambling, I felt with that low level pilot junker. I thought - well, let's say "Hi". And so I did. On the other side there was a ship of Bionics and MethodMaemph. And suddenly, the engineer aboard the junker started mocking my speaking manner. So, angered, I swapped sides with my crew in a blood hunger. And so Bionics did, hence he was an ally with the junker. The other goldfish, also low level, appeared, so the lobby was surprisingly, for the first time since the introduction of matchmaker, balanced.
The outcome?
5-0 for us, aformentioned junker shot down by us three times, even though he was protected by experienced other pilot. Who, by the way, put up quite a hell of a good fight. Oh, and despite the fact I suck at flying.

I 1v3ed with a BlenderFish in a 3v3. Ultimate ramming power
-
Some guy tried to ram me when he was 1v3. He died the moment he touched me ship.
-
All match, 2 squids against my pyra.
After the game they accused us of stacks and hacks, blamed the fact they had AI (we had Gat Artemis, so no flames) and the only reason they had AI is that half their crews left mid-match.
Score: 5-3 (our ally mobula which was un manned died once)
Screen shot on my steam. :)
-
Damn Kamoba everyone accuses you of hacking!
-
Damn Kamoba everyone accuses you of hacking!
Only six times my ship has been accused of hacking...
Once a buff loch nerf, buff loch flak spire, once a joke from Geo towards Silverst on the art, the other pub matches with new players who still have the "CoD fps frame of mind" where if you loose "must be hax brah!"

inb4 proof that mino isnt op
I won propably because enemy's ally was mediocre - he was mostly focusing on my ally (junker) and wasn't able to kill him even with help of Ailen's bulleon, and my pyramidion was artemis/mercury combo, manned by TheRussianSpy and Gnosch - two experienced engineers with buff kits.
And it still was a fucking exhausting, difficult match.
Sooooo. Minotaur IS OP.
-
This is kinda weird bragging, but...
I managed to convince the enemy Galleon that spurting flames out of the aft gun makes their ship go faster. I enlightened them when they switched sides to my team.

I played against Storm Ryders, 5-4 5-3 (unfortunately we lost to them:( But the scores are worthy of braggin!)

I can play 16-notes on bass guitar in tempo of 180bpm. Correctly.

Heh. That's only because I changed the right hand fingering pattern to not-very-common 3-1-2-1. Damn, this is surprisingly marvelous, until today my personal fastest speed of fingering with 3 fingers was pathetic 80, and even that was not very precise...

I won a 2v2 against 2 galleons as a squid 5-0 while having such a bad connection that every manouver I made lagged by 2-3 full seconds
it was horrifying ;-;

Whoa, this thread's been dead for a while. Excuse my doublepost, but
Some WoD captain was in our lobby, I took squid, had a junker ally, against his lumber-mino galleon and his hwacha galleon ally. He switched to hwacha-gat-mortar spire at the last second
The first few minutes of the match was me miserably harrassing and weaving by him while our junker ally takes his time to kill the galleon, then just as they get a 4-0 score, the spire goes down low for me, I pop him and kill him, we focus down the galleon but spire reaches us before we can kill it, and then we focus the spire back, finish off the galleon, fly to their spawn, focus the spire again, finish off the galleon again and win an awesome 5-4 comeback.
Oh, oh, and did I mention we focused down the spire and finished off the galleon? :P :P

Last sunday I got in a lobby with 0 matches pilot and his crew as an ally, against two more-or-less low level players (10? 15?).
My allied captain had no idea what he was doing, what should he do, where is his "stupid ally", what color is his team, and not even whether he won or not at the end, roaming the Duel At Dawn the whole match, somehow luckily avoiding all engagements.
Meanwhile, his "stupid ally" (me and my KNTG Paragnomen) has battled in constant 2v1 situations - wrecking enemy ships down brutally (because blenderfish + chute vent ramms on Duel), ending the match with a result of 5-0 singlehandedly. Oh - my crew. 2 AI engies and FishMyToes as a gunner - rare thing, gunner on blenderfish not running because "OH-MY-GOD-ENGINES-ARE-DAMAMGED". (All hail the Matchmaker).
Edit: To explain my bragging. Screw my levels - I'm a bad captain. When I'm lucky I can escape from 2v1, usually damaged. This was the first time I had the upper hand in 2v1 situation.
-
I survived a 3v1 for fifteen minutes while piloting a spire. Hydrogen and Pheonix Claw all the way!
-
Enemy squid ran away in dunes while I was my lumber spire (Full clan AI crew).
I predicted it would circle around to kill me when I directed crew to kill its goldfish teammate. Calculated it will reach us in 10 seconds as soon as it realises his teammate will die from focus fire.
AI clan crew had 10 seconds to kill a target that 1000m away. They did it in 8. Squid is hovering behind us trying to pop. Crew already tanking its puny guns.
I kero reversed to force it into arc. Instead it died from a reverse kero ram. 2 kills in less than 15 seconds.
-
So I needed to capture points as pilot and win as gunner.
So I piloted at the start.
quit at the last 20 secs while parking ship on full repair AI on point.
Left. Rejoined as gunner. And got double class achieve notches.
-
I have improved my piloting skills!

I survived a 3v1 for fifteen minutes while piloting a spire. Hydrogen and Pheonix Claw all the way!
I beat their asses in 3.5 minute. Three times. Having AI engineers.

Teammate's ship all ragequit early on in a 3v3, led the remaining ship of new players to victory in 2v3. I'm very proud. ^_^

18 cp wins in a single day.

Just returned from fleetwood mac concert (work).
came out of it 4 women snogging me and big drunk burly Geordie grabbing my shoulders to smack me one (we were on a stairway if I resisted we'd have falling down the stairs).
supervisors complimented my costumer service...
... its too bizarre to really call it bragging.
but none of it was bad I guess. What is it with 60s music that gets people acting like this?

Not to mention... What the [AIRHORN SOLO] is your job title and description anyway?
If you don't mind me asking.

I don't care if you don't believe me. It happened.
And it was girl, 2 girls, girl and guy.
And once more with one of the 2 girls as she gone home before the encore and I saw her off (goddamn she was beautiful).
And no I didn't initiate any of it. I was just doing my job.

Oh. The way you said it earlier it sounded like it was all at once.

Gather 'round and I will tell you a story of great justice against ultimate stupidity.
I've been playing this game for, I don't know, the middle of May I think - whenever that recent steam sale happened. Not very long, I know, so I guess I don't really know what the community here is like when there aren't steam sales happening. All I can tell you is that it has been a hit or miss experience for me, insofar as some lobbies are completely chill and others are full of random people saying really awful things to each other.
I'm a very competitive person with an aggressive personality, and I take particular pride in leading groups of people, both in my professional and recreational life. I run a gaming group of 12 people, our biggest accomplishment being our role-playing setting that has been consistently active for 3 1/2 years. I am used to being respected by my fellow gamers. I am also used to my gender being irrelevant when it comes to gaining that respect.
So, while it wasn't exactly surprising to run into the type of stuff I have in this game, it isn't something I am accustomed to. Certainly, I've been on the internet at this point since AOL was pay-per-minute. This means I have grown a very thick skin, to the point where people angrily threatening to rape me garners only a shrug (and usually a comeback - my policy is not to ignore these people; I bite back). What I am not used to is the sheer volume of these types of encounters. Not even when I was heavily into MMOs did I ever encounter so many guys saying highly inappropriate and usually threatening sexual remarks to me. But it's every other day here.
I'll grant you that it's usually low level people who probably just bought the game, but is that an excuse? No, it is not. This is why I tend to avoid competitive games despite my competitive personality - the BS I have to put up with just for revealing the fact that I'm female by saying "hello" in the lobby. But I don't avoid this game because I actually really, really admire the uniqueness of the teamwork aspect, and the depth of the combat system. I like the fact that you're only as good as the rest of your ship's crew, whereas in most co-op games you can often go off on your own and be good or bad individually.
So with that preface let me tell you that last night was a pretty typical encounter for me. I've been trying my hand at piloting for the first time this week, and was doing so when I entered a 4v4 match. My crew was comprised of a real-life friend (Norm von Luftballons), his friend (Geometric), and a girl gunner (Sae) I met through the game just this week. In the lobby the only other person I vaguely knew was one of my team's pilots (ieatbugs). His crew was people I don't know. The other two ships on my side had level 1 pilots. The other team was comprised of 3 ships that apparently knew each-other (on their individual ships, not as a whole team) based on their clan tags.
So one guy from blue team asks to match if we can hear him, as he's testing his mic. I respond like a normal person and say, "Yes we can hear you," on x chat. Hearing my voice is apparently enough to get someone else from blue team to proceed to call me a slut, say that I'm unoriginal because of my ship name (the Lusty Argonian Maid - an obscure Elder Scrolls reference), and you know, a bunch of other very graphic stuff that I'm guessing would be a violation of terms of service to even describe here.
I don't particularly care when it's one guy. What made this encounter special was that, after his entire ship jumped on board with these comments, eventually 9 out of the 16 people on blue team were saying this stuff to me. All because I said "yes we can hear you" and had a female voice. They were so overwhelmingly loud that it was impossible for me or any of my team to get a word in. My only response was to type to match chat, "Prepare to die." Of course this only made things worse for me, until we got in game. How we live in a world where 9 out of 16 men think it's okay to do this to someone I will never know.
Match starts and I then proceed to get on captains chat. I informed the other 3 captains, with special attention placed on the two level 1 pilots, that we were going to (expletive deleted) the other team up their (expletive deleted), and they were to do exactly as I say and let me call the shots. ieatbugs was down for it, one of the level 1's responds with a yes ma'am, other level 1 is silent but apparently responsive, as he did everything I asked. It was Red Sepulcher, so I demanded they do not go through the pass for any reason, even to chase down a dying ship, that we would stay in the red spawn the entire time. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how difficult it is to convince level 1 pilots to use a cautious strategy like that, but miraculously, they didn't chase enemies at all.
So the match pretty much went like this where cat = red team:
Every target I called they targeted. ieatbugs got in trouble one time and we rescued him, but otherwise it went incredibly smoothly. My ship was utterly unstoppable (junker with meta one side, all artemis other side), and I am sure we got at least half the kills, including the winning kill. I spoke harshly to my team, but rewarded them with praise when things went well - which was most of the time.
In the end, we won the match 12 - 0. Finished it off with taunting to the other team that I probably shouldn't repeat, got the last word, and never heard from those guys again.
Felt good man.

Good job Kendra! And i love the new Junker build you're using now, controlling and killing power, very versatile :)
As for the sexual abuse, its something Muse want to target, never hesitate to report them, if its a large scale thing like that, check if a mod or CA is online (community tab, meet our ambassadors) and ask if they can hop in the lobby to help file the reports (if I'm online I'll help too) or ask your friends to help report too.
Then kick their butts before they feel the consequences later on too. :)
-
Yeah Mazzic Karde showed me how to fly it well. ;)
But yeah is it just me or does the report function seem kind of buggy? I have tried to report people before (very rarely, though), and when I clicked the button I started filling out the report form, get to the part where you're supposed to describe what happened, and no typing cursor comes up. So it doesn't let me actually send the report if it's blank, but I can't type anything because there's no cursor. =|

And people wonder, why I scream that new players level too fast...

Levels 31-32-32 and you don't show enough basic reading comprehension to notice that she said she tried it. I expect more in the way of respect from an "experienced" player.
Your comments are neither constructive or appropriate.

I just came back here to say this:
Although I do report people, I do not block people, in this game and any other game. I listen to what people have to say, even if it is disgusting, so that A) my righteous fury may be better fueled, B) can custom tailor more appropriate post-match taunting, and C) because I think ignoring negative things in almost any aspect of life is counterproductive to solving problems. Too MANY girls (and people in general) just ignore this kind of bullshit. Not saying ignore doesn't serve its purpose, and not saying everyone should (or can) thrive on conflict like I do, but I wanna be right there in the middle of it, fighting back.
I certainly don't "not know" about ignoring and reporting, dummy. =P

*Puts on a helmet and hunkers down for the (possibly) impending Schwalbestorm.*
I think the name "Finegrinder" is quite appropriate, as you and your team made definite mincemeat out of the blue team, well done! :D

Ok - my mistake; and right, I had not read the post about reporting, but I can justify that by the fact, that recently I have internet connection problem (constant 16kbps uber alles) - I can read the forum, but can't reply; I read your story the day before, and wanted to write that before I forgot. I meant not disrespect, nor taunting. ^^ I'm just still shocked that there are, for example, engies level 20+ who STILL don't know how to repair pyramidion engines efficiently, so I became a bit paranoid.
Well, if that's what you believe is right, and not just lack of certain knowledge, then pardon me, and have a nice day. ^^ All I hope is, that you had not mistaken me for an arrogant male ape, because that's what fuels MY HOMICIDAL RAGE.
About C)... it's good attitude, reasonable. I find it terribly exhausting when people yell, and what's more, make me unable to think properly, to focus, give orders to my crew or discuss possible strategies with allies. So I block lots of people. And when somebody trashtalks me... I rage for only short periods of time in game, because my rich personal live experience taught me, that decisions, thinking and strategy does not go well with my berserk. Fiery character works wonders only for short term assignments, and may have rather bad consequences in long term sight.
I only wish you luck not to be branded "feminazist", as I was eventually branded "Polish nationalist of intelligence below average". :P Which is an absolute, menial bullshit.
This might be risky, but feel free to find me in the game, that might be an interesting match. ^^
@Koali - Schwalbestorm? Nah. The mistake was mine, and I was proven to be wrong, so why should I go stormin'? I only felt a bit attacked by Mazzic Kerde
@Mazzic Kerde - my respect is something that must be EARNED at first. That's why my respect means anything - I don't give it cheap. I've shown no disrespect, nor respect, for I had no reason to do so. As I said - I thought she had no clue about those, and that was a wrong assumption.
Edit: About my levels; I feel experienced not because of my levels, more because of my matches played count. And still I don't claim I know this game through. -.-
About bragging:
I've finally achieved something near peace, despite the awareness of the coming storm.
And some of my recent stories (duo - The Coming and The Atrophy) are quite positively received by readers, though I feel those are definitely the easiest ones. ^^

So one guy from blue team asks to match if we can hear him, as he's testing his mic. I respond like a normal person and say, "Yes we can hear you," on x chat. Having read your post in entirety, i'm glad to hear they got put in their place, it's more people like you we need who are willing to stand up to misogynistic male pigs whom label themselves as men but are merely boys masquerading as such.
Well done for setting an example your approach can only encourage more like minded females to play and continue playing this game and many others.

Not bragging about the game, but...
I've recently made the best trade of my entire life; I bought custom, hand made bass guitar originally built for 12k PLN for something around four times less money, and this bass is not only gorgeous as fuck, but also it's sound and ergonomy fucking crashes anything I had in my hands; Full story about how it fell in my hands in this post, if someone's interested. I'm a keyboardist in my free time. My instruments cost no where near that much money.
If I did have that sort of money, I would not only drool at this image, I would go out and buy the instrument.

My most prized possession is a 1999 Redsound Darkstar Synthesizer. It was worth about £400 at the time it was released. I got mine for free. :P It is now worth about £629.31 based on inflation over the years
(http://www.vintagesynth.com/misc/redsound_darkstar_lg.jpg)
The synthesizer also had the ability to change its purpose, it can be a Synthesizer, Modular Synth or even a Vocoder if you have the right eeprom chips. Sadly, I only have Synthesizer.

...And here I am without any sort of musical talent. When I get back from vacation, I'll show y'all my MaKey MaKey controller that has all the necessary controls for basic airship flight.
No, wait, hold on, I think I have the pictures here.

It's a pseudo-NES pad, with two buttons and a joystick because I can't be bothered to make a proper D-pad. It allows for steering, altitude control, and throttle.

And here's the MaKey MaKey itself. For those who care, I've managed to attach all the inputs to a common ground.
