Title: Watch out for air mines!
Post by: Spud Nick on May 18, 2013, 12:02:18 pm
I think I will be flying a squid a lot more when the air mines are introduced to the game.  The speed the ship has and the back mount weapon seems perfect for a mine launcher.

Aren't the tars clouds a sort of air mine? they really hurt.

that leads to the question of does tar affect mines?

On a Squid:

Fire mines, drop tar, and stop to think a bit about your life, you heartless person.

I don't think you're using the term de facto right :P

But I agree. It'll be amazing for those lesser-used slots.

yeah probably... would it even be worth bringing it on boats with only side mounts such as the goldfish or junker? I could see the argument for the Pyra, but how good of an arc is this puppy going to have?

I could see it being used as a side mount on the Goldfish on maps where cloud coverage isn't a problem. Right now I like to have a Goldfish with a right side gatling and left side flare. On maps like Firnfeld you don't really need that flare as much, so a mine launcher could do the job.

So what happens if you hit your own mine? seems like it could be a bit dangerous... *random scenario caused by sleep deprivation* Laying out mines to build a defensive position around a point.... Squid pops up unexpectantly and you turn to engage... right into your mine.... mine goes off.... *end scenario*... can you Team kill yourself :P

If I remember the mines won't hurt friendly targets.  I recall that being mentioned by a green name at some point.

This certainly will bring about a whole new level of stink to the "is suiciding allowed" discussion.

They'll have to damage yourself. Mines would be too op if there wasn't a drawback. Which would be forgetting them and flying into them like an idiot. Friendly fire however wouldn't work unless they got rid of it for all guns. Which I'm not opposed to but I'm sure they won't do cause of griefers loading up ships and going on a tkfest. Which has and does happen in a lot of other games.

what about letting the mines have a larger downforce so they wont hang in the air for too long?

You can allways shoot down their baloons (at least that's the idea).
