The Sunday Community Skirmish is a double elimination tournament event that runs every week with occasional breaks. All matches are 2v2, time limited best of 1s and are normally streamed live on Twitch. Any team of 8 players is welcome to participate.

This signup thread is for the Skirmish at 7pm UTC on Sunday July 5th. (3pm EDT) The event is normally streamed by Fourth Oracle, as well as other streamers who vary from week to week. The details of all streams will be made clear on the day of or day before the event. The event has an expected runtime of 2-4 hours.

Signups should be posted in this thread and include a Steam/Skype contact and team name. Signups close at midday (UTC), or 8 AM EDT, on Saturday the 4th of July. Please try to avoid last minute signups.
The bracket and map rolls will be available soon after signups close. (brackets at http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/ (http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/))
Participants will be contacted when their matches are starting, although it's encouraged to consult the bracket and keep track of the streams so you have a decent idea of when you will be playing.

The complete rules can be found in this document. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BEfqkDYqYDfaZ_-irntJt3yG4sowL0xgUtlToKwyK2E/edit) There is now also a brief summary of the ethos behind the rules and structure of the event.

Please only sign up if you are confident of your ability to produce a full team of 8 players.

Parody/Troll/Alt account teams will not be permitted to sign up

The event will continue to follow DOUBLE ELIMINATION format with best of one matches!
Time limit per match remains at 20 minutes, without extra time. Have a look at this (http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/sundayskirmishtest) if you don't know how double elimination works.

The world is out of balance.  That balance must be restored.  For too long man hath trodden down Gaia as a rutting beast trode the ground.  And like a virus man infested Gaia, and made her unwell.  The unmanaged arrogance of civilization brought Gaia to her knees, and gave us the Age of Dust.  Some have seen our current Age of Air as a partial return to the way things should be.  They believe we have lrnead learned from our mistakes.  They are wrong.  Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.  And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze at that hot chick over to your left.

The rebirth of technology and industry, even on the small scale we have seen, represents nothing more than how little we have learned.  Man looked upon the world lain waste by his own hand, and he decided not to adapt, not to change, but to return to that state which brought about the collapse.  We of the Order of Chaladonwill not allow that to happen.  We will put our bodies on the gears, and the levers, and the propellers. We will make it stop.

We will come to your tournament, and we will show you the might of Chaladon.    We will show you that we will not allow the same devest

ation we witnessed long ago be wrought again.

Wait we're including the new map a few days after it has been implemented?  Before it has had time to be properly bug checked or adjusted for balance, and when nobody has been able to practice on it?

Bug testing and adjusting for balance is something that Muse should have done already. I am also completely fine with this, since the new map is basically Raid on the Refinery since there is barely any difference, except the spawns, which are very similar to the spawns everybody is used to, when playing Raid on the Refinery.

Yes, I think we all agree that Muse should have.

I, for one, look forward to hearing casters explain the first instant spawn death.

If we find some unexpected issues that renders the map unplayable or causes major issues, we can cancel the match and swap to a different map. I can't imagine that would happen, but it isn't the end of the world

Hi everyone, This is an inquire for the SCS organization

In order to make SCS a bit more interesting for 3 teams we come up with the Idea to make it a Round Robin tournament.
This way the 3 teams will fight each other in the group stage then 2 teams will advance to the final. The teams that will advance will be chosen by the amount of points they have (Points=kills). If a Tie occurs this will be determined by a match that will have the Maximum duration of 10 minutes.
In the group stage it will be 2 matches per round and in the final it will be a single match only and the top scores in the group stage will be given the option to pick the spawn.

http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/test
This is how the brackets look

Tell us what you think and if its positive this will  be the format for when only 3 teams are signed up.  :)

Why not?
Because half the time I'm on blue team I spawn inside rocks, and the height ceiling on the entire western half of the map is 500 meters lower than it should be?

I think a Round Robin tournament for when so few teams sign up is nice so they can play more. Too bad this idea came too late for this SCS.

So much for Muse getting dem bugs.

Having played a few fact finding matches with Ayetach and others earlier, there are a significant number of bugs and balance issues on this map - especially for the blue team. Invisible tar, invisible heavy guns and hit markers on those guns, flare issues...

I strongly advocate that it be left out of the rolls this week until muse can address these problems.

Map Rolls:http://pastebin.com/mvvPsE8B (http://pastebin.com/mvvPsE8B)

We will be keeping Clash at Blackcliff in the rotation, and if any bugs occur that make either team feel that the match should be throw out and restarted, then we'll move the match to a different map. I'm hoping that won't happen, but we're prepared to make the proper accommodations if need be.

Surely these don't show up only in the new map, it hardly sounds like a map specific problem. If it is, that is extremely odd.

How about instead of making accommodations in the event something happens, you avoid the risk of something happening at all? A lot of the bugs I've seen are pretty minor, but added together they could give a team a serious disadvantage. We have a ton of maps that work, let's just use those. Especially as in the rolls, we're on the previously mentioned buggy blue team. I strongly, strongly object.

I fail to understand the logic behind including a map with multiple reported bugs, before they have had a chance to be addressed, on the understanding that matches may have to be thrown out.  It seems like infinitely less headache for everyone involved to just re-do the map rolls with blackcliff thrown out for now.  I'm not aware of any other competitive game where major content patches are included in tournament play 3 days after going live.

'Cause it's fun. I like new maps, you guys like new maps, the community as a whole like new maps. We want to see it get some play. We had some people do some testing this afternoon and we couldn't replicate any game breaking bugs, so hopefully that means the reports are over exaggerated or they're rare enough to not be an issue (hopefully). I see no issue in including it in the rotation and seeing what happens

I agree and I'd like to see it in competitive play. They're friendly matches.

Considering the recent SCS signup trends I also think round robin sounds like an interesting idea but as for the new map... Even though the developers should have addressed all major issues by now it still seems more reasonable to allow for some post-release feedback because clearly there's always a chance for bugs to make it through. Indeed why not just eliminate the possibility of "Something happening" until we're certain. Whilst it's true that we like new maps, the new map is being played in pub matches very often already (for the overall "getting play" factor) and it just doesn't seem like a big effort to give it some more time before bringing it to competitive.

After losing a match by 7 seconds on a time technicality I'm not sure I have the same laissez faire approach to the rules :P.

But if it's what we're gonna play it's what we're gonna play.  If it's buggy hopefully it will at least be equitably buggy.

I think it's also kind of important to understand the original purpose of the Sunday Rumble (and the SCS) was to have a casual and slightly competitive tournament and experiment on things. The new format for double elimination was an experiment, and in the SCS you don't have to be super serious and only take predictable builds. Trust me, I understand that the SCS (and Sunday Rumble) can become extremely competitive and the idea of "casual" can and inevitably will lose focus in your mind while crewing or piloting, but we do have to remember that one of the important reasons for the Sunday Rumble's existence was to have a less serious event than the Saturday Box Social. Granted, when the SCS came about there was no weekly Saturday event besides the occasional tournaments, still the purpose of the SCS was never really to be the most supreme hardcore and official competitive icarus tournament there ever was. For that reason I see it as a good tournament to use for testing of new maps like Clash at Blackcliff. However, the lack of any serious tournament in the foreseeable future makes the whole "testing" of such a map pointless as we're not really "testing" for anything. I've wanted to post and maybe even help concerning the making of another more serious Saturday tournament, but considering the drought in teams lately I was kind of dreading the negative feedback for such an event as many would probably prefer getting the SCS to a comfortable team pool before starting another tournament that would need more responsibilities for casters, referees, and teams which seems to be a problem lately. Regardless, I hope things go well and the new map brings some interesting things into play.

the most supreme hardcore and official competitive icarus tournament there ever was.

I mean at his point it's literally the only one left, so it kind of is.

But yeah I get that it's not supposed to be super serious, I still don't get why that means we should include maps that are known to have substantial issues.  We're not testing anything, we know that the map is bugged.  I don't have more fun playing on bugged maps.

obviously if your team feels like muse fucked you up, then the match will be restarted on  a different map :)

and no you havent played in a hardcore competitive event yet. SCS is not on the same level of hephaestus that was a proper tournament, compared to weekly signup and play while being drunk.

Yeah, I'm well aware of that.  My point was, mostly jokingly, that it is the most super srs bsns try hard competitive event in virtue of being at this point the only one left.  It's also the least hardcore event, the most purple event, and the event that listens to the most frank sinatra, so.  /shrug

I propose that no one and I repeat no one. Let The Mann be a pilot...

Better still,

I propose no one let The Mann play competitively... I am a terrible player when it comes to competition.

How embarrassing.

I was listening to all the (Awesome I might add) commentating and could hear all the mistakes I made despite the browser being minimised...  :-[
