Community Guide / Re: Welcome to the Community Manual!

Tough choice, starting another Welcome to the ... topic or answering the current one :P Well, I guess our to-be-volunteers are going to read it here though :)

Some weeks ago I started a discussion in the Guides forum; "One Guide to teach them all" (Link) and this is what became of it. We decided that it was best to recruit people among the CAs first, to have a reliable base for working on the Guide before we throw the whole idea at the public, but now we're ready to do the latter!

If you feel like contributing to the Community Manual, go here and choose your topic: Progress & Work-Distribution , our aim is to create something like a handbook that you get with GoIO, a foolproof all-covering Guide to the game!

The Mobula is a crazy ship, the Mine Launcher is devastating, and the lumberjack has been changed quite a bit!

I'll stop now.

Are there updates for all the social stuff in too? Clans, revamped social page, etc.?

There is.

My thanks, good sir :) Will be good to have a look on them to answer questions later on when they get released.

Good, I'm set, still not entirely jobless but finishing some accounting in my current job before I leave and having regular hospital visits in the afternoon, but there's enough time for me to do something substantial now!

I'll take the "How to get started" row if no one objects until this evening. I should have some results by the end of the week.

Updated, I'm glad to see so many people get involved :) You're all aware that we're usually in need of Trainers for the Training Days? :D
There are training days? waaaaa...? Whats the schedule?

There you go, Gentlemen:

https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/board,35.0.html

Training Days are usually Wednesday, 9 PM CET for the EU Training matches, and 8:30 PM EDT for the US Training matches. Check back with Shinkurex for the US Time though, I might not be right on that one!

I'll update the first post here with your names!

I'm wondering if the clan system is in, because we'll surely need to explain it up and down the lobby on monday, if it's in :P Could check it out on Sunday :)

I want to be part of this :P

Edit: Permission to advertise this ingame?

Oh and Hamster; the distance from the front gun to the hull is very small if you know the sweet spot to hit the hull from underneath without jumping.

At least I'm not the only one who didn't know about that...

If it makes you feel better, I didn't either. God, that's going to make serving on a Junker so much easier. I feel like I've been completely ignoring that ship before I read this guide :P Could it be that I moderate this board because I'm in need of guides? :(

Thaago, my thanks for getting involved, I added your Guide to the Guide Overview! If you'd like the description changed just tell (or another Moderator) so!

Good that our ship's section is finally filling up :)

That's a wonderful idea! Good of you go get involved :)

The best place to get people interested here is probably ingame though; because here on the forums the majority of players are well experienced already and would easily exceed the Level 5 rule. There'd need to be promotion ingame and on Steam probably to catch people who haven't played that much or not cared about getting their Achievements higher.

As you've maybe seen on the other Tournaments, it's often a problem to even just get a full ship with 4 players - Maybe beeing more loose here and allowing AI Crew, or restricting the ships to Pilot, Engineer, Gunner + 1 AI Engineer could do the trick here to get the required number of players.

And, the longer the Tournament takes the more difficult it will be - even with the above rule - to keep all the players aboard. Consider that less experienced players are less likely to stay with the tournament and crew for so long because they might not be so well connected with each other yet.

For this kind of Tournament I'd even suggest a ship based approach.. Captain's sign up their ship and replacement pilots, and at the end there's checked which ship won the most matches and which people served aboard that ship. Might be a bit of a hassle to write it all down, but screenshots at the matches ends should suffice.

Very cool.  Good luck with your studies, and thanks for you offer to help!  I'll gladly take what help you can provide in any of those regards, when you have the time. ^^

And here I go again, good to have some time again to wonder why my carronade got nerfed :)

I'd say we keep the Arashi scavenging party centered at this point, and try to get up a event around it. Choosing ships like the Junker is sure to attract people, as.. it's not the usual Pyramidionx4 :P

Also, "enterprising scavengers from different (perhaps conflicting?) city-states," gives us a nice starting point here at the forums. We could post 2 threads with some nice texts and graphics, recruiting 2 teams + substitutes in every thread. Recruitment offices for the 2 companies. Ideally, the companies would also provide the ships and loadout, so there we'd have our background for the restrictions.

Sorry to have kept you waiting!

Regarding the date I hope that my suggestion doesn't come late, but why don't we simply put up a doodle for seeing when we can reach the most players? Might be universally helpful information for other tournaments too.

Great, that's what I meant! They'll do fine in the Wiki until we've got a Framework up for the Guide, my thanks!

I feel biased answering that, but I'd go for the format applied in:

https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,247.0.html
https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,263.0.html
https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,943.0.html

First I copied my own format and then my format was copied. Felt nice to me, but.. I don't want to advertise myself here, and I definitely don't want to give you guys the idea that I want to advertise myself with the Community manual. I'd go for this format, but I'll gladly change my guides into a better format for the community manual if suggested!

Don't you worry, when I was online just now (~7:30 PM CET) there wasn't a huge load of players. And a good amount of CAs online too. I trust it'll look the same at 9 :) Hoping for a nice training day, because I just got my ship handed back to me in pieces some times :D

Let's see.. Sorry for the late reply, I got caught up with studying for my finals past Saturday. If I got them, my way towards transcultural communication is even ground :) Anyways - I've added common loadouts to the Ship sections. I feel it looks a bit more bloated now, are we fine with that?
