Apologise for the long delay on putting an ending to the Skies have no Limit, I really can't seem to find time with work. But since a fair amount of people want todo collaboration stories with each other, like with the originally Burning Skies and the Skies have no Limit, I am opening this discussion thread in the Pit for those who want to create boards and wing the plots. Apologise again for the long open in the Skies thread, and to those who want another outlet, I may open the Buring Skies again for just person to person talks. It won't be my actual person, but the three that currently runs it when Azn is out. So just putting this out there.
-
sounds cool cant wait
-
I still love you Bdr.
-
Hey Carn and others, use this so you don't have to clutter your respectives RPs with OOC stuff.
-
Couldn't you hire Rethburn to put it to a saucy ending, Bdr? I still have the proper summoning ritual procedures and list of items required for you to summon him if needed.
-

What? No, no, nopedy no!! We all know what Rethburn is capable of, literature wise. Having him end The Skies have no Limt is not a good thing. He maybe the Guardian of the Pit, I still remember his previous works. *shivers* :o
-
Don't mind the necro, but if you guys willing, I have a side story to go on from the ending of the Skies have no Limit. I won't post as often, only narrate and direct the flow, but how about an adventure south of the Guild and of the know world.
-
Any others welcome? Or is it just you narrating?
-
Since I won't post as often, I'll have two others whom I'll PM from time to time with different settings and scenarios. Mainly when I am on at night I'll do a quick time lapse or a summary. But besides the two, it is still open to those who want to join.
Oh and Queso, you should know that all the Cantina's Skies discussions has been in the Pit, but it has been crazy so thanks.
-
Take no risks Bdr.
-
It's a risk simply being on an airship.
Are you telling us to uninstall your game? :o
-
The airships are a infinitely smaller risk.
-
Carn, Koali, we have this for a reason. Try not to clutter the thread. Besides, even my person have hidden blades
-
This is true, he and I have already cleared that up.
-
Indeed. And if y'all can go out and kill some large wild animals and bring back their femurs, I can rig up some more axes.
-
If we hunt large animals, I'm keeping their femurs as clubs dude.......
-
WITH BLAAAAAADES
Seriously though. Monster femurs make great weapon handles.
-
DERAILMENT ALERT, DERAILMENT ALERT
-
Soo, what to name the transport.
-
I vote we vote on it.
So I recommend we name it Bastion, complete with gruff narrator.
-
I recently made a new ship and named it Destor, some derivative of destroyer.
-
Do we have a list of fluff class vessels?
-
Fluff class? How so
-
I mean vessels that are not mentioned in canon. Those sort of things.
-
Bastion is good. What about The Wayward Wind?
-
Hey, do we have some sort of hub area?
-
if you want to start staying on the transport, but we don't have a set tavern/bar
-
The transport being a capital ship with less guns?
-
It's more of a modified cargo ship that has its belly converted to have it open and close to accommodate smaller airships. Basically a ship tender and command center.
-
I did mention a large walk on cargo bay, is that still a thing, we should draw up a blue print or something.
-
I could see it at the bow, it opens up and there is a gangplank that drop down into the initial hold. Behind that a large bulkhead with several entrances to catwalks that expands across where it stores the ships.
Yeah I think we may need a schematic/blue print.
-
So evidently violence is therapeutic for Carn.
-
So evidently violence is therapeutic for Carn.
Koali, Carn and Alison are both extremely agro. Though they express it differently. Example, if there's a wall they need to get past, Alsion prefers to climb over and kill any guards along the way. Carn prefers to just blow a hole in the wall and walk in.
-
I suddenly remembered that Amelia comes from a prominent family, as such I've made her a fair bit more formal when she speaks to people she's unfamiliar with, people of authority etc.
-
In case anyone wants a more descriptive feel for Jasper, think Hannibal Lector, but replace "cannibal" with "I want to open you up and change how you work."
-
So Bonesaw?
-
Don't know that one. Jasper is a medical genius, well versed in psychology, and dabbles in genetics. And extremely sociopathic.
-
Well character discussions aside we're going to have to end this day eventually, my characters cannot forward the narrative any more then they have without someone else interacting with them.
-
Alison is wandering the ship. Possible run in with Reagan?
-
On it, sorry went to a concert yesterday, it was awesome by the way. Hehe Slighty Stoopid and the Dirty Heads, hehe
Also, transport name, what is it?
-
I vote Wayward Winds.
-
Lets think representive, we're hunting birds after all.
-
It's also taking us REALLY REALLY far away, wayward.
-
But we need to slight them.
Also just had an idea for a post.
-
Well it depends on when and why the ship was originally constructed, it hasn't been said yet if this is its first mission. Also, is Amelia's pet/thing some kind of baby sky octopus?
-
Something along those lines, I was thinking more squid like though, if a bit more bulbous to accommodate the lifting gas it produces.
-
SKY WHALE!!!!!
-
MWAHAHAHAHAHA... Soon Amelia will be queen of her own pod, or something.
-
Can we make skywhale riders canon? PLEASE!
-
We did make Sir Issac Phillips canon.
-
I wasn't around then.............All i know is that he is credited with the mobula. And was Chaladonian...
-
Ok, like I said in the post, the day is over, but we are having night cycles if you want to add more. If there is nothing of importance you want to address, I'll put a simple post to fast forward into the morning. 6-8ish
-
I wasn't around then.............All i know is that he is credited with the mobula. And was Chaladonian...
Squid
-
My bad....also presumably Amelia trying to explain to Carn exactly what is on her arm, and why she should get to keep it, would be funny.
-
Thinks of it as like the main day story has ended, but the afternoon and evening goes on.
-
I went with evening, we have been moving about a lot and been really productive.
-
Should be good, night lights should just turn on about now. And hurray, it not something bad will happen when you have a crazy guy being escorted in by several guards, not like movies I have seen.
-
If we believe he'll be an issue we can just, I don't know remove all his limbs?
You know, maybe we should contact one Captain Copperfield to join us on this mission.
-
If anyone get's to remove Jasper's limbs, its the Anglean with a really big grudge, and an axe to match. I was thinking we chain him to the wall via three chains connected to a collar on his neck.
-
Whoa, I'm just pointing this out, I just realised that when I wrot him in, scenes like when Loki or KHan was being escorted, sometime later things go, yeah. Will it be like that who knows, only I can tell.
-
Or me, we can have joint control over him. Within reason.
-
It will be interesting on his interactions during the trip.
-
Indeed.
-
I seem to have hit an unexpected problem with the Switch Axe mechanism. I'll be needing a week to clear this up.
In other words, I'm headed out of town.
-
I've been nominally posting from a phone actually.
-
I seem to have hit an unexpected problem with the Switch Axe mechanism. I'll be needing a week to clear this up.
In other words, I'm headed out of town.
Uhhh technical issues result in a delay in the ship's departure? Also, starting the 28th, I start at a technical school, so my postings are going to be more infrequent.
-
We can do that. I know that we all have personal things to deal with, don't worry about posting as much. I mean myself I'm limited to nights and weekends.
-
Still, thought I should point it out.
-
Should I just begin writing weird unrelated in universe things in this thread then? I really can't think of anything to post so I think I'll just do that.

Ask that player who made a thread on aliens invading earth, they may be able to give you inspiration ;D
-
Hey, didn't Bdr say the transport had flak guns?
-
I said it had several weapons mounts. Still deciding on how many medium and light weapons it's should have.
-
Can it have one massive gun? And Carn get's it? Reagan pilots the thing, so can Carn get a ludicrous gun?
-
Still no Village Killers.
-
I just mean a legitimate heavy weapon.
-
Ok, design time, I need to make a visual sketch of this thing.
-
DAMN IT BDR! I WANT MY BLOODY VILLAGE KILLER!
-
Hey, you get to fly the bloody thing.
-
Size wise I need room to compare it, I mean it is the size of a Junker.
-

What? I was under the impression it was MUCH bigger.

Wait, I thought you meant the transport was the size of a junker.

Wait, I thought you meant the transport was the size of a junker.
What? No, how would it be a ship tender if it was a junker.
-
That is a good question, one I would be inclined to answer with black magic.

I thought I moved this out of the pit...
-
It was on topic for the most part cheese master!
-
Then the wibbly wobbly stuff happened............
-
We are not letting this happen in here. you know how long I had to scroll up when someone quote the quote thread
-
What about Bacon?
-
Ohhhhh Bacon, the Holy Religion still lives.
-
Indeed sire. On a side note, I'm modifying the squid to be able to drop bombs. The other one was rigging so crew can repel of it.
-
Hail Bacon Bdr, hail Bacon.
-
I'm just sitting here, giggling, whilst watching you guys make a full RP and all from something I started in the skies have no limits...
-
You know I hate you for that, but it got something going again.
-
<3 Bdr.
-
Mac as much as I love you, go punch yourself.
-
Hmmmm, when're you goin' to even leave docks?
-
Relatively soon I hope. Alister and Alison tend to get broody.................
-
Completely oblivious of the story unfolding around him, Koali sat in Gaige's workshop and sharpened the many switch axes he had built.
XD He feels so left out!

The price of infrequent posting.
-
Soooooo, anyone going to post something?
-
Working on it.
-
K, didn't know if I needed to double post to keep things moving.
-
Slow day huh?
-
Yeah, been busy. But we should be heading off by the end of day 3
-
Ok then. If we have to drag this out...........I don't want Alister to get bored..............Things might blow up.........
-
Once we are out there, I have many surprises and goodies
-
I just want Alister to go full berserker on a few birdmen. I'm not asking for much.......
-
Wall of text achieved.
-
Aaaaannd replied. For anyone who is interested, I've loosely based Alison's personality on Tex from Red versus Blue.
-
Reagan has Auburn colored hair, Amelia is blond.
-
Oops. I forgot it was Reagan in there. I'll go fix that.
-
Right, so when are we going to fight the mutant things?
More importantly, when are you guys going to come grab an axe?
-
Day or two? You should probably begin stowing equipment and the like on the ship before we leave.
-
Right, so when are we going to fight the mutant things?
More importantly, when are you guys going to come grab an axe?
Carn already has an axe, Alison doesn't use big weapons, but the twins may be interested. But none of them have even seen this switch axe. Only Koali and Gaige.
-
I guess it's time to show it off. Someone get me a bunch of watermelons!
-
Chainsword isn't the main melee I'll be using, just a sort of boarding/when-I-really-need-to-kill-something-undeniably-dead weapon.
Think you can fix a gun in the middle of combat that's had it's barrels shorn off and it's inner workings cleaved near in two?
-
Meh, axe to gun mounts. Axe wins, problem solved.
-
In one go?
Probably not.
And you can't sever the struts connecting a Goldfish's main engine with an axe.
-
True, but I can severely damage the shaft and fuel lines. And a gun mount that's cut halfway, is liable to break when next used. Possibly harming the gunner.
-
Wait a minute, I thought we were talking about FIXING guns!
-
How would a boarding axe or chainsword fix a gun?
-
Well say there is a pesky gatling firing down on us and they don't realize you're standing right there next to them. An axe will fix that.
-
I consider that fixing a problem involving a gun, rather than fixing a gun.
-
Think you can fix a gun in the middle of combat that's had it's barrels shorn off and it's inner workings cleaved near in two?
Oh, I get it now. You're talking about a gun that we just slashed.
I thought you were asking me to fix it.
-
So you guys know, think of the twins personalities of two labs who haven't been neutered. But with manner's and a knack at engineering.
-
XD
I have a Labrador/Rottweiler cross, and she's the sweetest thing you'll ever meet.
Also Gaige needs a pet.
-
We already have a baby sky squid.........the same rules on that, apply to any other pet. If it messes with Alister or his stuff, it's dinner. He's a non-discrimatory eater.
-
For the non-interest of everyone here, Amelia is 23, and Reagan is 34.
-
And Koali is 16.
-
Alister is 26, and Alison is 25.
-
Gaige turned 30 about a month ago.
-
Am I the only one who gets slightly confused in where everyone else's characters are?
-
Seriously, I thought Gaige was in the cargo bay, but now he is suddenly in the Armory? Wtf?
-
I can move.
Also the Armory is really close to the Cargo Bay.
-
We don't have a map of the ship dude. But please, take the time to specify were your guy is. It makes thing A LOT easier.
-
Sorry, sorry.
Also from other people's impressions it was.
-
There's still a corridor of unknown length. I never got the impression that you could just stick your head and see into the armory from the cargo bay.
-
WE NEED A BLUEPRINT! SUMMON THE PHOTOSHOPS!
But it's not that much of an issue, but yeah, noting where a character is will certainly make things a lot easier, especially when we get to combat scenes like I know we will.
-
Even more so for those of us who have multiple characters. I gotta balance Alister, Alison, Jasper, and the twins. Twins are always together, but still. Then there's Bdr, and Pies, we all use multiples. It just makes things easier, and it takes like 2 seconds.
-
Would make sense, arms and armor are cargo.
-
Dude, its a separate room. Just take two seconds and show where your character is, that's all we are asking.
-
I always imagined it situated near the crew quarters. Especially in the case of a boarding action during the night.
Also a reminder from your friendly neighborhood CA, if you ever find the need to argue PM's are a great way to do it!
-
I thought it was relatively near where the ship's are. Close to the cargo bay, but still departed by at least 50 feet and walls.
-
Who is up to discuss an actual blueprint over a call?
-
Yes, I can do sometime this evening.
-
My current connection is definitely not enough to sustain a call. I may be at the library later today but I don't know, I'll get back to you on that. Though if you do get a solidified layout I may be able to photoshop something up, no guarantee on that either.
-
Yoooooooooo
Carn's Anglean
I'm half Yeshan
What's everyone's character's heritage?
-
Alison is from an old Guild family, and you know about the twins.
-
Ummm, I'll just go with my full cast list...
Alexander Henley - Paritian
Lorena Henley - Paritian/Yeshan
Travis Warren Davidson - Fallow
Reynold Allen Davidson - Fallow
Preston Allers - Firnfeld
Richard Morgan - Firnfeld
Reagan Alexandria Morgan - Firnfeld
Dahlia Norton - Kian
Amelia Lockheart - Prominent Guild Offshoot in Landmark
Phillip Williams - Chaladonian
Notes on Kian: Though Kian is located in Firnfeld it isn't connected to any of the other settlements, because of this I treat it like other cities in The Burren and The Middle Plains. Also noted is that Lore wise Kian is inhabited by Turan refugees so that technically makes Dahlia Turan.
-
The crew is here, you guys can use the three other captains and pilots for your use. As for the crew members, its around a forty person team which you can make new characters or just have them nameless. But they are there if you need some new people.
-
Gaige is from the Guild, left when he was 18.
-
Want my entire list or current in this story lol
-
DO EVERYONE! NO ONE IS IRRELEVANT!
-
As I thought of Alexi, I was thinking he and Alister may have had an old rivalry. Both competent mercenaries, competing for jobs. Would make for some interesting interactions.

..........For some reason, I thought Boomtown was his last name.......also, I could find the town. Don't know which is the Dust coast.
-
The Dust Coast is the region just east of The Middle Plains. It also happens to be south of The Chattering Fjords, aka land of the Baronies.

Thank you Pies. Have a salute.
-
It helps to have a copy of the map stashed on my computer.
-
I have it bookmarked, but I didn't know where the Dust Coast was. Never looked as much in that chunk.
-
While not necessarily important, there are no actual tables in the warehouse. There are however a multitude of crates of stuff, piles of stuff, shelves of stuff, but no tables of stuff. Sometimes crates are shuffled about to be sat on or used as tables but no actual tables. To continue on this there are technically 2 buildings here, the warehouse proper where everything's stored, now on side is the office building, which has been heavily remodeled into a home, featuring rooms for the crew as well as an armory, kitchen/dining room, gathering room and the bathrooms, which already existed and were fixed up. While the building has a loading bay it has been converted into the main workshop where most of their larger pieces of equipment are maintained as well as numerous projects that the crew may be working on.
Onto the Skyrunner, while technically a Junker, has seen some very hefty modification in the past, very specifically before it came into the hands of our two resident former Firnfeld Militia Captains Henley and Morgan (Richard). The most notable being the third deck, the increased width and length of the vessel, and numerous other minor things. The second deck contains a cargo hold and a crew berth for extended voyages. While there is no galley the crew cooks meals up on the top deck with a portable stove (Standard Issue Firnfeld Militia equipment that, need to keep warm while on patrol, also cook lunch). The number of weapon emplacements remain the same however the front gun position could feasibly mount a medium weapon if it was modified to a degree.
As of the moment the Skyrunner's armament is:
- Front Mounted Anvalan Howitzer
- Top Deck, Starboard - Modified Dual Chaingun
- 2nd Deck, Starboard - Mortar
- Top Deck, Port side - Carronade
- 2nd Deck, Port side - Banshee Rocket Carousel
The front gun mount extends forward away from the ship, where the Rocket Craft Starlight Seeker would be attached beneath it to the vessel.
Thinking on it now the Skyrunner is a class of its own now... Hmm...
Also Bdr, Kei Naga? Seriously? :P Not like I'm one to talk, considering I kind of see Preston as Hans Grimmish.
-
Don't look at me, I mean we did go off using names from that series for the engines in the Rocket Race.
-
Just watch, The Birdmen are out there building Excalibur or something.
-
Looking back, we sorta had a Stonehedge thing going on in Past, Present, Future thread.
-
Oh dear, any other super weapons I should be aware of?
-
Umm Sunderland's flare?
-
You know what? Why not.
-
Pies, there needs to be more Andromeda interludes.....
-
Well who knows, maybe we'll see some Andromeda adventures in the future. Andy is an interesting perspective to write from actually.
-
Andromeda is great
I hope it gets to help out sometime in the future.
-
Soooo... What exactly is it? A Metroid?
-
Koali, our characters only met about 1 day ago, as far as the story goes. Why do you think Koali has Sister's frequency?
-
Sister's frequency? I thought it was yours?
-
The heck?! Very weird typo. Still, you don't have the frequency dude.
Also Shaded, would you mind NOT being so abrasive? Popping in to make snarky comments, doesn't actually progress the story. I'm also dealing with a lot of crap irl, and don't need it right now.
-
Well, it was an attempt to reinsert myself into the story.
-
I was trying to do something similar to Koali, actually.
Besides, it's not directed at you, I think the twins are great.
-
I think it has been mentioned that Lorena speaks her mind without thinking of the consequences so that is actually rather in character for her.
While this in a way makes her similar to Reagan in that respect there are a number of differences. For instance Reagan is a professional when it comes to her job, enough so she'll be actively thinking and making sure that her temper doesn't get a hold of her. Lorena on the other hand has her father's penchant for well placed insanity, doing things so out there you have to wonder if it was planned. That said Reagan is not a peoples person, only really getting along with a few people while Lorena is a sneaky sneaky snark thing who actively works to having good natured fun and occasionally annoying people deliberately. There are other things but I'll leave it at that.
-
Secondary note, there seems to be a disconnect on the nature of this rp for some of us. For instance this is not the RP Tavern and in no way connected to it, the posting nature is far too different, and while snappy one liners and single sentence replies will happen things don't simply happen because we say so.
Silliness can happen only if we can make it consistent and not over the top, Andromeda is an example of this. I mean after all we're going to hunt down a cabal of mad scientists who create mutants is a flying squid much worse?
So no, Koali you don't have his radio frequency, you can certainly get it however. Exalt you're more or less alright, though both of you should post more often I hate feeling like we're leaving you out.
And remember, serious, but playful.
-
I agree with Pieman. I don't WANT you guys left out. But you need to post things that actually progress the story. A few sentences of banter don't do that. And has ANYONE heard of Spades lately?
-
I don't know, Lorena calling the twins idiots doesn't do much either.
-
Right then, is my new post better?
-
Better. Just try and be consistent.
-
And remember, Andromeda is the real hero of this story. Everything we do must perpetuate that narrative.
-
Obviously. Maybe Andy is a product of the Birdmen? A incomplete one, which we find the resources to finish?
-
The actual origin of Andy stems from the old forum's description game, which I was extremely bored in exploring one day many moons ago. (Good times those)
That said however Andy is a bit of a quandary, I'd rather not say Andy is incomplete but not really a developed being. Perhaps maybe a creature akin to the perspicacious loris from the leviathan series of books, or perhaps the Aerozone from Skybreaker/Starclimber.
-
Don't know those. I thought maybe we find a serum, injected Andy, then boom. Amelia riding a sky kraken.
-
To be fair Leviathan features the namesake of the book being a giant flying whale the British Empire uses as an airship, a literal kraken, bats that ingest metal shards and then excrete them upon their enemies at high velocity, The Russian Empire utilizes Bear cavalry, two headed eagles as messenger birds, Austria, Germany, And the Ottoman Empire use mechs and normal zeppelins in combat. It's kind of great actually.
-
.........PM me details of author, publisher, and all that stuff please.
-
No, don't PM. Post it here. We all want to know. :D
-
So unless you've decided to google it in the time since I last posted:
Leviathan is a series of young adult novels (I know, bit of a deal breaker) by Scott Westerfeld taking place in an alternate history during the age of world war 1. The British and their traditional allies of France and Russia have discovered the ability to manipulate biology, calling themselves darwinists after great scientist Charles Darwin they've created all manner of beasties to do... things really. Germany and their allies however decided no, they were not going to manipulate biology and created armored war machines to be piloted into battle.
Moving on from the universe aspects of things, by the very nature of young adult novels this is not a series of war books, as much as that might have been really cool it is a series of adventure novels following young Austrian Prince Aleksander and British airman Dylan Sharp, who happens to be a girl in disguise because spoiler alert this is 1914 and they haven't discovered the fighting ability of woman.
Still the books are enjoyable enough I feel.
-
Sooo can someone interact with my guys? Apart from Jasper, and perhaps Alison, they're all in the Hangar Bay, and I don't know what to do.
-
I don't know, have them begin talking about things and we'll begin...
PULLING
EVERYONE
INTO IT.
-
Unfortunately Alister is talking with Alexi, which requires Bdr. Alison I'm not sure yet. Maybe rigs a more serious determent in front of Jasper's cell. As for him, well he's under threat of extreme pain if he opens his mouth. And I don't know what to do with the comedic relief aka the twins. If anyone has a banana, specifically the peal, THEN I have a idea.
-
A banana? I happen to be collecting fruits. How about, say, 20 bananas?
-
Excellent. Now they just need a duck, and a young woman willing to be embarrassed and not kill them.
-
Hey I did say Alexi, Reynard, and Ulric were free to use by you guys
-
.......I COMPLETELY forgot about that.......
-
I put them in so if I'm not here the day can go with you guys using them, which should end soon. So far I at least put some perspective on how they should act. Also the thre other pilots, since we aren't out yet, I'll take control of them for e moment.
-
Besides nervousness, I'm not sure about Reynard. Alexi I understand, and Ulric will make for interesting dialogue with any and all hotheads.
-
Koali, I wouldn't count on getting the bone. Marrow is a good source of protein.
-
Bone meal is a good crafting material if used correctly.
-
True, but my understanding is that he needed a intact bone. Also, what kind of market just gives away that much food?
-
Steampunk Costco, I guess.
The marrow is off-limits, Carn.
-
Hungry Carn says differently. Anyways, the Hangar Bay is PART of the ship Koali. It's not a separate building. It's just a REALLY big room with ships, planes, tanks, and a rocket craft..........the ship is freaking huge OK?
-
So huge he mistook it for a separate building. That and there is a door into the ship and towards the armory.
-
Let's just say I have a terrible sense of direction.
Also... Hungry Carn does NOT get the bone. I have plans for it.
-
Hungry Carn has a axe. He is also your commanding officer.
-
Look at us, fighting over a bone like dogs fighting over a...
*cough*
A bone.
-
Technically you signed up yesterday, this is day two of things.
-
Well then. I guess that this particular iteration of my character is a bit of an airhead, but can fix things like nobody's business.
-
What do you mean "this particular" iteration? :P
-
8)
-
Come on man, the Tavern iteration inflates himself. How is that not being a airhead?
-
No, it was funnier in the normal sense.
-
Koali, I must insist that your character either call me Mister Carn, or Alister. In fact, that goes for everybody. Not just Carn, and never Al.
-
You're going to have to insist to Reagan's face because she doesn't know that, at all, and already mentally calls him Al, which'll probably still happen.
-
Ah, but Koali has little to no experience with authority! Make it a silly scene!
-
As long as she doesn't call him that out loud, and I'm sure I said that already. Koali, he will go drill sergeant on you. Or reassign you.
-
Well, Koali is just a fresh recruit. He needs discipline!
-
We're also not members of the militia, we're a bunch of mercs who have been hired to do shit. We're also being paid. A lot actually.
-
Which is why I'm okay with Alister, and not making everyone aside from Reagan and Frey call him "Sir.' And Koali, if Alister is doing discipline........ask the twins why they don't like the harnesses, and while your at it, talk about Alison's cooking.
-
If we're lucky Amelia will get so annoyed at everyone she once again displays simple yet fantastic cooking.
-
Alison's cooking has been used as punishment before. Combined with the harnesses......its rather effective. Alister is at least an adequate cook.
-
So, sorry about my infrequent postings, been rather distracted of late. Still when we get the ball rolling on the quest my postings should be more or less back to normal.
-
I may be unable to post frequently because I'm suffering from a disease commonly known as "Calculus Homework"
-
Wait, what kind of calculus?
-
AP Calculus BC
If that means anything to you...
AP for advanced placement, BC to indicate it is an accelerated version of AB, covering 2 semesters' worth of material instead of 1.
-
I took the AB class actually, absolutely horrible at it mind you but I did it anyway. The BC class was unofficial but was taught during my AP Physics class by the same teacher. Freaking genius kids... Our graduating class had two valedictorians and a salutatorian, it was an odd year.
-
Ah calculus, I believe cal 3 was my highest. And pie who are the four again
-
Reagan
Amelia
Lorena
Davis Hargrave - Academic Mercenary Extraordinaire
-
The day is technically over, just need to finish up with Couage, but the trip will start soon
-
I would like to do more, but shaded seems to be only posting once a week. It ties me up.......I don't want to have to make some BS reason to stop the conversation........
-
Insert conversation montage here.
-
Hey, come outside and see the food! Food is a great excuse to end a conversation!
-
Koali, you are yelling at a closed, armored, gigantic airship. Alister can't hear you.
-
I'm just, uh...
I'm just staying in character!
Totally!
-
Also, Benny? Really? Does Alister have to install corporal punishment?
-
I like to consider this iteration of Koali to be an idiot savant, in that while he's not exactly the brightest of people, if you can get him to do what he does best, he'll excel at it.
-
Really, medium rare?
I would've expected blue rare and aged.
-
Hey, its a Inn, not a five star.
-
Yeah but blue rare is easy enough to pull off
-
Blue rare? But why?
That's only slightly past raw!
-
Blue rare? But why?
That's only slightly past raw!
He's a special forces Anglean.
-
I actually refer to my stomach as a cast iron cauldron. But can we get more posts please?
-
I'm working on something, apologies for my general inactivity.
-
Blue rare? But why?
That's only slightly past raw!
He's a special forces Anglean.
Yeah, but it's nice to eat something warm once in a while...
I actually refer to my stomach as a cast iron cauldron. But can we get more posts please?
1) So does that mean you can cook food after you swallow it?
2) I'd love to post, but I'm lost in the streets of Cathedral.
-
It's day 3.
-
Koali, it's more like a witch's cauldron. Straight from the depths of hell.
-
Demon's Brew is strong stuff after all.
-
Hmmm I like that description Pieman......
-
It aptly describes a lot of thing. Alcohol burns and so does stomach acid, albeit in a different way.
-
True. I call it that as a regularly eat cartilage, and......questionable foods.........
Please, send steak.......the cafeteria here has no idea what they are doing...
-
It's day 3.
I know, I stayed lost overnight.
True. I call it that as a regularly eat cartilage, and......questionable foods.........
Please, send steak.......the cafeteria here has no idea what they are doing...
BUT THERE'S QUICHE
Also, could one of y'all open the door? I have fruit and meat.
-
Koali, it's not locked. Also, I may have Alister put you on a leash. With a bell.
AND THEY DO NOT SERVE QUICHE. One time it was pink chicken with some feathers still on it. I still ate it.
-
Ah, I guess you have to make the quiche on your own.
-
Apples and turkey are just fine.
-
Orange is best breakfast fruit.
-
Shaded, Frey already left the galley.
-
Sound travels differently in a packed galley. It's the concentration of food.
-
Hmm. Interesting theory.
-
Shaded, Frey already left the galley.
He was not even in the gally the first place, and he only told one person where he was going.
-
I think the best bit is that you called Amelia captain.
-
Yeah that was a deep moment. Was suppose to be Reagan but I was reading Amelia.
-
Amelia is best Captain.
-
Could someone tell me what door leads to the hangar bay? I'm stuck outside pondering existence.
-
Uhhh, the side hatch I think. Then navigate to it........I think this version of you needs a bell.....like a cat's...
-
I'm pretty sure there's two entrances, one on either side that lead straight in for ease of bringing on equipment and the like.
-
Yeah, but those things are big enough to pilot a galleon through. I don't think they were left open overnight.
-
I passed by the command centre on my way to the Galley, and overheard.
-
I passed by the command centre on my way to the Galley, and overheard.
I can buy that. Bdr, you wanna control Jasper for the interrogation? I think you get his personality by now.
-
Uhhh, the side hatch I think. Then navigate to it........I think this version of you needs a bell.....like a cat's...
Dunno about a bell, but how about a steam whistle?
Also, thank you for the directions. I'm gonna try to slide open the giant hangar doors, or, failing that, add an unsanctioned doggy-door modification.
-
Or, I just sick a anoyed Alison on you. She's been rather.....inactive..
-
Koali's character is a certain kind of special.
-
Does that mean I get a sticker?
-
Does that mean I get a sticker?
No, just not a face full of hawacha rockets. So three ways in, two side doors and a front gangplank. So 8 medium turrets, with four on either side running from fore to aft. Mainly for antiship and planes, the middle two are heavy Flaks and the outer two are hawachas.
-
Didn't know how much I need that in my life.
-
Didn't know how much I need that in my life.
So does that mean I get a sticker?
-
Ok basic ship load out
Two huge hanger bay doors to both port and starboard side of the ship, hanger spaces can only fit who ships at a time as well as the launch and retrieval mechanisms for the planes, this is also the lower deck of the transport
Front is a gangplank that can be lowered, there is the front cargo hold where the tank and truck are
Mid deck is the gunnery deck where the 8 main turrets lie, surrounding the ship are also various light weapons mounts
Top deck is the general living quaters ad accommodations are, command center/ bridge is near the front while medical and the brig are towards the rear.
-
HOLY CRAP
IS IT REALLY SO MUCH TO ASK FOR
JUST GIMME A !@#$% STICKER
ARBLARBLARBAAAAAARGL
*rages for about 2 hours*
Also, we have a tank?
-
And a truck.
Note: I've been treating the truck as a halftrack this entire time...
-
Well, "tank and truck," so...
-
Bdr, you got Jasper down quite well. I only request that I do the Hangar story when the time comes. Beyond that, you can use him.
-
And a truck.
Note: I've been treating the truck as a halftrack this entire time...
It is a half track, two wheels in the front and tracks for he rear, it was a quick post.
And yeah I knew you had some backstory with you two, I just had to mentioned it to peak Frey's interest.
-
Oh definitely. I want to run an idea with you in PM actually.
-
I'll be needing that saw back at some point, but you can keep it for now.
-
Davis is likely to forget about it for sometime, he's like that.
-
That's fine, it's just that saws are expensive, especially nice ones like that.
-
Alister is serious. He will fire you out a flak cannon if you do that.
-
I'm fully aware of that, but I'm stuck in the current character path.
Protip: Koali can be easily distracted when he's not being completely serious.
-
Aaaaand there you go Bdr, no arming mechanism.
-
Food, the calling card of destruction.
-
Right, time to get posty. Need to get a handle on the personalities of our resident pilots who happen to not be named Davis Hargrave.
-
Yes, I've referenced my grenade barrel from the Tavern thread.
-
If I recall correctly, that was more powerful than one of my powder kegs.
-
Yeah.......there was a lot of loch, thermite, and tar grenades in it.....plus the experimentals.
-
Koali PLEASE think about what you're posting in the actual story thread.
-
Yeah, that last post was a little ridiculous.
Just claim that you have something last minute to take care of and leave, and you can later claim (If we leave before you can post) you got on the ship before we left.
-
Apologies, I was mainly trying to say that I was being knocked out by schoolwork again.
I think I'll just stow away in a barrel for now.
-
Right. It's been a long time since the last post. Can I go around drawing moustaches on everyone or should I wait a little longer?
-
Good question, been distracted for a bit and I start college tomorrow as well... so it might be a bit till I can get a post in. What say the rest of us?
-
I would love to continue, and should be able to get at least one post in a day, more likely more. I just don't know what to do.
-
Soooo... Is that a yes on the moustaches, or...?
-
It depends, I'll most definitely try to get a post in once classes are done tomorrow however.
-
I'm tempted to write a story in the Cantina that's posted on a chapter-by-chapter basis. Is there a decent thread explaining the background of factions/cities/etc I can use for background?
-
I'd recommend reading through:
1.) The World section of the forum. While things there may not be entirely correct there are some things that could certainly give you ideas.
2.) The World section of the home page. There you'll find the overviews as written by muse.
Using these two together should get you on the right track.
-
Yeah, sadly there's not a lot of concrete lore released. Definitely do what Pies said, but there are a few lore friendly RP threads. Burning Skies and Skies have No Limit are pretty lore friendly, at least in how many people perceive the world and its possibilities. You'll have to filter through pure player written stuff, but those are rather obvious.
-
Thanks, guys. I was expecting something more limiting, but a chance for a little creative liberty should make writing pretty fun.
-
No problem. Also Koali, please keep the fourth wall intact, at least in Uncharted Skies.
-
Post is a bit late but it's there, now I must run, college awaits.
-
Been so long. Gonna make a new post and advancing the timeline a little bit. Don't know how often I can post, so I'm leaving it to both of you Carn and Pie
-
Lets see if we can build up a bit more momentum.
-
Ok so:
1.) Post has gone out, keep up the momentum on this.
2.) We're 48 pages in and we're finally getting started. We're goddamn Berserk, except we're getting on a boat instead of getting off of one.
-
The gunnery deck is open to the elements like the lower deck of a Galleon, right?
-
I feel there would be something like an aircraft carrier's island located at the center and a bit to the rear to hold both the stairs and ladders to the other decks, as well as ammunition and maintenance supplies.
-
Well anyways, post coming later today, expect it.
-
If you do look back a few pages, the Gunnery Deck has bay doors that open and extends the guns out. So when not in use they are protected from the elements.
-
Ok so I lied, college stuff takes precedence, will get to posting eventually.
-
Some little fun now.
-
Devious.
-
Well at least it'll be interesting. Night fight with this matchup. Who is at the gun deck out of curiosity?
-
koali, gaige, i believe lorena? and a bunch of random crew
-
Amelia, Lorena was with Alison in their now shared room.
Also post incoming, had to eat lunch.
-
Soooo I may have forgotten the twin's first names and Alison's last name.......
-
I know I should just read, but can I get a tl;dr of the battle? As in, who's fighting, where, and am I involved?
-
You are on the gunnery deck, along with Shaded/Gaige, and Amelia. Reagan is at the helm along with Frey. Alison is at the medbay, and Jasper is in the brig. Alister is piloting his Squid with the twins and a random NPC for crew, currently duking it out with the enemy Squid.
-
I have the Twins down as John and James, couldn't find a last name for Alison though.
-
I have the Twins down as John and James, couldn't find a last name for Alison though.
Same
-
Thank you
-
I'm so glad I equipped the Kibeth for bombing.....
-
BAM! I actually took time writing something.
-
Huzzah! I approve!
-
Woo!
Also, I haven't fired yet because I'd rather avoid collateral damage.
-
I've given you the narrative point to fire, which the entire battery has at my point in the story. But doesn't mean you have fired already. Give em hell why don't you?
-
The twins do not have fond memories of the harnesses.
-
Is it OK for me to be a ridiculously good gunner, or, at the very least, extremely lucky?
-
Koali, the weather deck, where Alister is, ABOVE the gunnery deck, where you are. Directly above you. You can't aim it that high.
-
Plus, you have to shoot through the floo and behind you. The gun platform extends out
-
The guns don't really rotate that much
-
I could've sworn you were off fighting aboard a Squid somewhere.
Evidently, you aren't. Lemme go point the flak cannon at someone else.
EDIT: Right, there's a new post, the raider's alive, and I just missed a raider truck by a mile.
Now, this operates on the assumption that the caravan is within my arcs. Is that assumption correct?
-
Yes, that is correct.
Also what happened with the squid was that it crashed into the weather deck after a flyby consisting of Antonio and Farris who I'm enjoying writing a bit.
-
I was under the impression it was destroyed. And Koali, this is why you read the other posts. Alister WAS on the Squid, then he boarded the main ship to attack the raiders who ALREADY boarded it.
-
The first squid was destroyed and its crew bailed out over the shadow. The second squid disengaged and parked over the transport before being destroyed by the scout wing.
-
Well, the problem has been rectified, we just need someone with powers to delete the post.
-
Gaige apparently likes exercising his twitchy trigger finger enough to trust that Amelia can deal with that idiot crew all on her lonesome.
Not that she's incompetent, just that's it's a lot of stupidity to handle alone for anyone.
-
I think she's raised their fear of her, higher than their stupidity.
-
As Gaige wisely said; "Sometimes subtlety with the threat of much violence later on is a very effective method."
-
Here we go, in light of my screw-up:
-
Thought I'd compile our current list of mentioned minor characters, those with and without names, which is few mind you, but it'd be good to remember who's who.
Named Minor Crew:
Mr. Charles Banning - Comm Officer (Unknown Shift)
Belle - Comm Officer (Unknown Shift)
Mentioned Unnamed Minor Crew:
Head Engineer (Male, Bushy Beard, Random Shifts)
4 Man Maintenance Crew (The Flak of Doom)
-Team Leader (Male)
-Crew Member (Male)
-Crew Member (Female)
-Crew Member (Male)
Helmsman (Male, Unknown Shift)
Birdman Infiltrator (Undiscovered, Male, Probably A Huge Asshole)
While a minor point I was also thinking we could set up a duty roster, after all we have a lot of crew and while we won't get to know everyone it'll at least allow the minor characters to be seen doing other things, I propose we use this system https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watch_system#Swedish_system but that's up for discussion. If we do decide this (Might be a bit complicated) I'd like a concrete crew count so I can simply fill in no names to populate the roster.
As for the scout wing we have the typical combat division of:
A Flight:
Davis
Kei
B Flight:
Antonio
Farris
-
Ahh duty sections. My Navy life has joined with my personal life. But having a spread sheet can help. When are you guys available for a call.
-
Saturday and Sunday, also friday anytime after 2:30 PM PST
-
Probably should do this in a pm guys.
-
I'll get a post up in a few hours.
-
If there is nothing else, I'm going to advance it a few hours.
-
I've got nothing, advance it, my next post will be where they zip off to.
-
Go nuts I've had my fun.
-
Well, huh, that's interesting.
-
Just crash landed on my way to the baronies, it's just a "PURE COINCIDENCE" that Commander Frey is a Barony officer of the intelligence division and I'm on his planned movement trajectory...
JUST A COINCIDENCE!
-
Well whatever the case welcome aboard! Also I need to finally get a post in, Our Lady of Engineering Lorena needs to make her grand appearance.
-
People looking now in the "recent posts" section will be extremely pissed off.
But, still, finally I was able to finish and post THIS part of my char background.
THERE IS STILL MORE TO COME
-
Also slight disconnect, the expedition is taking a route Southeast of Cathedral, taking the route from Cathedral to Sunder to Truth Lake and White Sea before crossing into The Guild from Albys over the Abyssal Gulf. From there we'll proceed from Starostrog to Vyshtorg and then begin our expedition in Gura Lupulul. Orrington as you've noted lay to the Southwest of Cathedral and is out of our general path. We can fix this though, somehow.
-
Oh god, my bad
Having only a low res map bounds you to make such mistakes
-
WE CAN FIX THIS, DON'T WORRY!
-
I could fix it by saying that actually Mr. Emil doesn't know shit about maps, so he confused two lakes and his real position.
That'd also explain his official codename in the Barony: Strayed
"Go there they said, I tried! But I got lost, I don't know where am I.
I staryed from the planned path, but the place is nice!"
-
I find that quite amusing actually, go for it.
-
But would it be ok if I did?
I mean, I don't wanna appear to be a person with strong protagonism, so would it really be ok if I posted there twice in a row?
-
you can modify it if there is time still
-
I can't modify it any longer!
*Darth Vader voice*
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
I can't modify it any longer!
*Darth Vader voice*
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
http://nooooooooooooooo.com/
You might need this.
-
Thank you based Pieman
-
Welcome aboard, who picks him up?
-
We could have our escorts do it.
-
Planning to.
-
My characters will remain silent until they reach Frey's office on the Shadow
-
When writing, do you people plan in advance, or do you improvise?
-
A bit of column a, a bit of column b.
-
Can someone stuff me in a barrel for the time being?
-
Aren't you already in a barrel?
Also:
When writing, do you people plan in advance, or do you improvise?
Generally if your scenes don't involve characters that are most definitely the mains of the other participants you have free reign to do whatever really. And even if they do you can improvise so long as you don't kill them off. With larger and more important narrative events... there's really not much of a structure to those either, if you take a look at our battle scene a few pages back you'll get what I'm talking about. We sort of just posted at random, playing off of the evolving structure of things as posts continued.
To further explain:
We have the framing situation and the main central elements. As we post we extrapolate and build upon those elements to build up the narrative. Occasionally we add additional elements and introduce events to further this. So long as the events aren't too out of left field, or fit despite being batshit insane we can work with them. This is the main bit to this, you can add anything to the story so long as you can make it work, or it isn't important enough to explain further, I mean, I introduced Andromeda after all... I need to do more with that character.
-
Fair enough
-
Generally if you have questions about an idea ask Bdr and he can help you out.
-
Unarmed fighting Gaige would be interested in. He's decent at it, but nothing to write home about. Getting tips from Carn would be something he'd appreciate. Marksmanship contests he'd probably skip out on for fear of pissing the crew off. He is an excellent shot. While he usually carries around his pair of pistols, Judgement and Jury, (Judgement is for big stuff or long range, Jury is for general use. Also, Judgement is now retconned from a .454 Casull to a .500 S&W.) he is well acquainted with rifles of all kinds. Teaching the swabbies is also something he'd be raring to go at.
Once that's out of the way, I could concievably see him hosting a tinkering workshop.
As in, teach people things workshop.
-
If Gaige manages to win everyone in unarmed fighting, an entire song could be written about it for the bards and singers of the future generations.
It would be called.
"The engineer who beat the everliving crap out of everyone"
-
Crow, Alister does wear armor, though it is under his outer clothing. It's tungsten plated kevlar.
-
I seriously doubt that Gaige could beat Carn anything more than a potential 1/10 ratio. He's good, but not Anglean special forces supersoldier reknowned even among his other supersoldier special forces members for being really good at melee/hand to hand GOOD.
Also, his ubiquitous jacket has what is basically akin to Ballistic Weave from Fallout 4, (not overkill) along with being made from incredibly heat and fire resistant materials.
Wouldn't do to have your nice, white jacket get burnt on a boiler.
That said it's not as good as hard armor, but it'll stop most small arms well enough.
-
What do the anvalan planes look like?
-
Not entirely sure, think mid WWII planes, I'm leaning towards Britain.
-
If it's a British plane, it should be a Sea Hurricane mk II.
Also planes like the Russian Yak could be more fitting.
The American P-400 could also be nice.
But since I have a thing for German planes I would opt for the Bf 109 E-4.
-
I believe Bdr said something about a Full Wing Design. Hope that narrows things down.
-
For "full wing" you mean something like the B-2 "Spirit" ?
-
Flying Wings are pretty sweet. I don't think they'd be so good for fighters though...
-
The Germans actually made some prototype of a full wing jet fighter.
It was partly a success.
Partly a disastrous failure.
-
Crap, typo. Gull wing, not Full wing, my bad.
-
Gull wing... Like the F4U Corsair?
OHMYGODILOVETHATPLANE
-
Gull wing... Like the F4U Corsair?
OHMYGODILOVETHATPLANE
Hit the nail on the head.
-
Does the anvalan model have only machine guns or only the cannons? Both even?
The machine guns are the 12.7 or the 7.62 mm ones?
Are airplane-borne rockets even existing in the GoIO universe?
Are even all these kind of armaments legit in the GoIO universe at all?
This plane is truly lovable.
-
If I recall the standard armament for our specific craft is 8 rockets, 2 cannons and 2 machine guns. That came about from:
Kei continues, "Single prop, looks like a modified squid engine was used. Rocket racks under the wings, and two guns in either wing."
"For a wired design, those Anvalans sure know how to make a plane," adds Antonio.
It was never specified as to what kind of guns and I've made it so our rockets have magnetic warheads for nominal tracking ability, not great in a dogfight but useful against larger craft.
Also I have a post in the pipeline, should be done in a little bit.
-
Since it can hold rockets, using modified Artemis rockets, they can be switched out with bombs.
-
I want Mosquitoes.
Corsairs are amazing, but Mosquitoes.
-
Everything begins with s.
-
Sorry for no recent posts, been really busy with work. Hopefully I get one out soon.
-
I should probably get one or two in as well.
-
I've got a draft for my next going on in my head. Should toss one out soon.
-
So I thought I would once again compile a list of characters that are technically controllable by anyone (Though I guess certain characters such as Kei and the Scout Pilots and a few others kind of get controlled by a limited set of people because… no one else has decided to do so?) and list them here.
Named Major Crew:
Ulric Culvin – Scientist, Escort Captain
Alexi Kasparov – Mercenary, Escort Captain
Reynard Larson – Merchant Mercenary, Escort Captain
Antonio Wylan – Scout Pilot
Farris Moore – Scout Pilot
Kei Naga – Scout Pilot
Named Crew:
Mr. Charles Banning – Comm Officer (3rd Watch)

Uuuuuuuuuh
So Gaige is offering from the Engineering section to go and lend a hand with the recovery operations?
-
Gaige is offering to assist around engineering. I doubt he's even aware there's a salvage op going on (In character of course, I'm certain Shaded is capable of knowing current events).
-
Wait pie, Antonio last name is Gonzalez
-
That was never recorded anywhere but I've fixed it in the master document and will be uploaded once we have introduced more crew members.
-
It was in the initial introduction. Also when the wreck was spotted I named the navigator Martin
-
Was it? I must've missed that cause I did a search in the thread and couldn't find anything. Also I quite like Martin Yates for some reason, I don't know why.
-
Yeah the search only did a few post back. But you can find it when I place where they were originally from
-
Man there are a lot of pages to sift through but I finally found it. If there's one thing I can appreciate it's that we've done a lot more in a similar span of time in comparison to The Skies Have No Limit, if there's one thing to be annoyed about that, it's that fact checking takes a while.
-
Yes, I am aware of the salvage op, but Gaige himself woke up and made a beeline for engineering.
-
May time skip forward if no one has anything.
-
I might have a thing: Selenia may remember that the Brig has a restricted access, she may enquire about it.
Is it ok? Should I wait 'till the guys in the Brig move on with thier evil plan?
-
Up to you. We write as we go on.
-
Got an idea for a post, will get back to you if it doesn't pan out the way I want it.
-
Right, post up, go at it.
-
Well we're now down to 45 crew members Bdr, I hope you know that I want to recruit people once we reach Vyshtorg.
-
Lol, can't have everyone live right?
-
Well you can't kill everyone yet we haven't even gotten started! Besides we still need a crew to staff the damn ship. Also that rifle in Davis' plane might finally get some use, also all escort craft on board are currently hobbled the way Fifth Season is so someone is bound to notice them trying prep them for flight.
-
Pie remember how I said there are three ways for airships to get in, port, starboard, and from below. Hello emergency drop
-
This discussion between you two sounds like a mastermind duel.
Who's gonna write next about thier escape attempt?
-
Oh looks like I made a very big mistake. Looking back in the Skies have no Limit, Frey has Army officer titles. Sooo the entire Uncharted Skies I gave him Navy titles. Whoops. His original title is actually Captain and not a Commander which is two ranks higher
-
Did anyone ever thought of giving the Shadow an illustration? What shape does it has?
-
I'd say something along the lines of this:
But with a balloon and a more visible top deck. Those guns up top would be replaced with our current loadout and be shifted down to a deck below. I'm also unsure as to the scale of the vessel so I think is should be a bit larger than depicted going from the weapons seen.
-
I would also say that instead of a massive balloon hanging over, it has two long balloons lined underneath the top engines extending the entire length of the ship.
-
Would you say that they're also armored in a way similar to the squid's hull? I could see that working.
Also post coming down the pipeline.
-
With a ship this big, some light armor would help a bit around that area.
-
Soooo... Anyone got anything?
-
I don't have anything.
I could make one of my chars say again that "to open the safe you'd need a very precise demo man or a very skilled lockpicker", but I don't think it's necessary.
Was it not for the damaged aircraft, Emil would just jump in and fly, but sadly he can't.
Everything depends on the lone fighter pilot now: either he disables the engines and lets the ally vessel board the Goldfish, or he is shot down and we need to use the Shadow to broadside the hell out of the fugitive ship.
-
If I'm correct in my assumptions the Eagle's Shadow would not be fast enough to catch the ship, that said we do have a number of long range weapons, a single flak shell may not destroy the ship but it might shred the engines. Carn has our Anvalan Merc but I don't recall if he has it loaded on his ship and I also don't know what our escorts are equipped...
-
Long range shelling is all it would need
-
Been busy but I'll get to it. Also Carn has something in mind, I just haven't seen him
-
"Carn has something in mind"
Ok, now everyone get some popcorn, lay back and enjoy the show: epicness is about to happen
Not to say that your all stories and events are epic, but Carn's events are
manly-explosively-brutally-Angleany epic.
-
Well Carn it appears everything hinges on you posting... sometime in the future.
-
Post in, apologies for the delay, been a shade busy with school. I do have a plan, and I should have enough to go on to put it in effect my next post. Also Pies, deny Alister permission to board. If he would be a tad more agitated, it will make things splendid.
-
Eh no problem, so long as we don't go The Skies Have No Limits level of posting drought we'll be fine. But with four people posting regularly enough we should be fine.
Onto the actual on-going narrative I can't think of an an actual reason to give any of my characters a reason to deny Alister boarding. Davis doesn't particularly care about the prisoners, after all they're a bunch of raiders who tried to kill him and one of them is a psychopath who he would feel much safer without him on the ship, and most preferably dead. Reagan on the other hand doesn't have a reason to deny him either, more concerned with the retrieval of extremely valuable resources and while in a boarding action damage is more or less guaranteed so long as it's repairable she'll be fine. Now if she thought they couldn't handle the boarding action maybe she would deny them but:
1.) They have Alister.
2.) As far as I know they haven't raided the armory at any point and are mostly unarmed aside for the shipboard weapons, which despite being powerful are also useless in a boarding action once the party reaches the ship, and are also disablable.
Now the only character I can personally think of who would have an issue is Frey, because he would much prefer having the good doctor alive to get information out of. And knowing that Carn also doesn't like him would influence him to keep them away from each other in a combat situation.
And even if we recaptured him Reagan is liable to just shoot him dead rather than keep him alive.
-
Hmm fair point, I can make it work. Alister needs to be under a high amount of stress for what I have planned. The denial would make things easier, but I can still do it easily enough.
-
Now if Bdr would write Frey telling Alister not to board that would be much easier.
Anyways I have an idea for a short post so I'm going to get that in.
-
Sooooo, to dramatic? Otto revealed as a traitor, crew killed/injured, and hanging by a thread?
-
Wait, who fell from the ship?
-
Otto Smith, the traitor. But Alister is also dangling from his harness.
-
So Mr.Smith is dead from the fall?
In case he is not, and we manage to recapture him, some scenic execution is in order
-
Yeah, I couldn't remember if we were over sand or water. I consider him dead, nasty stab to the gut and falling overboard. I thought it likely he would not want an autopsy done. No chance at them examining the body and learning something.
-
They should be flying over water. Also Poe should I do the planes post or you?
-
I seriously need to find for my characters some way to move in the skies (besides with the
damaged plane for Emil).
They both enjoy being lazy asses, but now that things are tense and there would be need for some action it's becoming frustrating being grounded.
On a side note, it's good that Lord Ansager isn't in command of the Shadow, otherwise right now the massive air ship would be racing full speed ahead with engines screaming to catch up with the fugitives.
-
I've got this one, just gotta get to writing it.
Also Crow, I have no idea about your characters other proficiencies but they could join the gun crews or engineering teams.
But once we get all these craft repaired we'll have a total of 5 (6 Including Alexander, Richard, and Reagan's craft of course) available for flying and the various standard patrols we'll be doing (In fact they've seen more action than the rest of the cast) plus, once we get into uncharted lands they'll be off with expensive equipment to catalogue various landmarks ahead of the fleet in order facilitate "exploration" and "the pursuit of knowledge" as well as "the complete destruction of the birdmen's entire organization down to it's last and final supporter." Which should be fun.
Also with the rate we're bleeding extra parts for these planes we should probably pick up a lot of extras.
-
So do we let them escape? Or recapture?
-
Sorry been kinda busy lately. Will get a post out hopefully later today.
-
DONE! FINALLY!
-
I never said anything about someone bringing the Squid back.
-
YOU'RE GODDAMN UNCONSCIOUS!
Now if you want to head back out you're technically still out there actually, plans were only put into motion and despite the few minutes that have elapsed all pieces on the board are still there.
Now whoever was still awake/not dead/not a dead traitor (And I'm assuming it's Jimmy) Is not exactly equipped to deal with this situation, who you very specifically described as a greenhorn, did what most people would consider reasonable and turned the ship around cause:
1.) He's wounded.
2.) You're unconscious.
That said you could very well turn this ship around (Literally) and go bust some heads if Alister is meant to wake up at this point.
-
I also mentioned the helm got wrecked during Otto and Alister's fight. However, let us pretend that the Squid was pointed in the direction of the ship, and the engines are still running.
-
... Damn it I failed the fact check again.
-
So it anyone going to attempt to unscrew this?
-
What I may try will either screw us (as if we aren't already quite screwed), or will totally unscrew the situation.
First off, does the Shadow have a steering wheel?
Secondly, can we compare the Shadow's top speed to a galleon's?
-
Shadow is a rather massive ship and engineering is already strained despite the damage that we've already repaired. Also Reagan is at the helm and currently controlling the vessel. That said I have no idea how many engines we have nor our actual top speed, engineering can give us full speed but they have to build up to it, mostly so they can observe for problem spots in order to run bypasses. I also have a really bad idea.
We also need to stop putting ourselves in situations where the only people who can really do anything is me and Bdr, seriously, we have secondary characters for a reason, Carn you brought up Alexi way back why don't you take control of him from time to time?
-
Now, the Goldfish suffered engine damage that got it immobilised for a while, and then they got repaired.
Gameplay wise they would be in an optimal condition, but fluff wise? Could we say that since it suffered heavy damage on the engines, it has a lowered top speed?
-
No idea, Bdr, Carn? Want to weigh in here? Shaded? Koali?
-
Sorry, long week. But I'm basing it off the photo you had earlier with two engines on top either side of the observation room of the weather deck near aft. Two more in the rear on the actual hull. With a transport being able to hold a galleon, it should be alightly faster but has to have time to get to its max speed. And yes the goldfish shroud have slight damage but is still able to move
-
So four engines, assuming the ones on the wings are for maneuvering, and a top speed slightly akin to that of a galleon if not greater.
No wait, make that six engines.
-
I mean these are big engines so they should have enough power to overtake a galleon
-
We also have 6 of them.
-
Would it be completely retarded for my char to ask to get the ship going all ahead full to reach Kasparov's position, and even get well within firing range of the damaged Goldfish?
If I do, and the propose is accepted, every engineer in charge of the engine room is going to try to spit in my dish at least once.
-
Depending on the outcome Lorena might just ban you from engineering outright, even if all goes well. No one touches her engines without her permission and she's already banned half the engineering staff.
Still, I've been itching for an excuse to give Regean a reason to pull out the seeker.
-
Then it is set
-
Remember, sandstorm picked up in intensity. Visibility is low and last know position is lost. You have a damaged Squid with half of its crew gone, a Galleon having its weight limit reached and going sustainably slower, and two downed pilots in the storm. What to do
-
Somebody tell the galleon to drop all the crap recovered from my ship, I don't think reinforced prow armour is of any use now.
It wouldn't hurt one bit to try to shoot those recovered Heyoka missiles.
And w could get the chaladonian out again, if he isn't too busy.
And the meme is "wat do?"
-
We could send Alexi after our pilots or send someone out in Ulric's ship to grab them. Ulric himself is busy with engineering though we could send him out with a provisional crew.
-
I could, but it did suffer damage from the explosion. Unknown or known
-
Right I'm home and at a computer, I'll get a short post in.
-
OK, got a post in.
-
Been putting this off for far too long, I'll get a post in a few hours.
-
What would be the best way for me to work my way into the uncharted skies story? I have a Anglean character in mind.
-
We have two ways of doing this, either your character is currently a member of the crew already, the easiest and for the moment prefered option that gets you right in, otherwise we'd have to wait till we reach another to get you in. We could do it with how Crow entered but I feel that the events surrounding that were a one time thing.
-
I have skimmed through the story but I haven't figured out what ships are included in the fleet. Could someone please list them. Thank you.
This will help me figure out where to join.
-
It's a five ship formation centered around the Eagle's Shadow, which serves as our fleet tender and flagship. No matter what you'd be on this ship as the other 4 vessels are capable of docking within it, allowing us to rotate crew and ships for rest cycles.
Here's the list of ships and their Captains.
Eagle's Shadow - Reagan Morgan
Kibeth, Squid - Alister Carn
Fifth Season, Junker - Ulric Culvin
Crimson Dragoon, Galleon - Alexi Kasparov
Tranquility, Goldfish - Reynard Larson
-
Give me an hour
-
So, Silver and others. Fast forward, different city and place for anyone looking to join. I know everyone has been busy, but please don't let Pie and I to make the plot points. If you have something we will write with it.
-
I fell asleep on my post, it's FINALLY OUT!
-
Alliance mode?
-
Alliance mode?
Has no real bearing on the nature of the RP, things may appear from time to time from the DLC, we've already begun with Crow's laser, or was it the tesla cannon? It was something. But aside from equipment and ships that's all we're getting from it. The factions already existed prior to the DLC so that doesn't really count.
-
What's finally out?
-
What's finally out?
Oh I see there's a bit of a disconnect, I was complaining about how I got my post out later than I had initially intended to.

I believe it was the rockets from the Baronies.
-
Silver, just a small thing, try not to use other's main characters as much. Need some cohesion and be in character.
-
I'm tempted to write a comical double take as to how he got in Frey's quarters.
-
I'm an enabler, do it! But Hold off for a bit, almost done with my post.
Edit: Post out, go nuts.
-
Alright trying to figure out who is who. I needed someone who was in charge. But how well did I do Frey's personality.
-
I think I found what Emil wrote in his letter to Frey
''Sent from: Lord Emil Maximillian Istvan Llewelyn Von Ansager, Guardian of Cainhurst, Protector of Cainhurst, Knight of Ravenrook, Captain of the King's Navy, Lieutenant of the King's Army, Paladin of the Crown, Agent of C.R.I.E.S., et cetera.
and
Selenia, Lieutenant of the King's Army, Agent of C.R.I.E.S., et cetera.
We, with great joy, want to ask to Mr. Frey of the Eagle's Shadow to let us and our companion join the crew of thy vessel, as we found great pleasure with our stay.
Also, methinks we are worthy companions for thy expedition, as our enemies are in common and many a nuisance they had caused to us all.
We recognize our first appearence might have caused quite the ruckus for a while.
Lord Ansager's presence might also have caused some problems.
He whishes to make ammend to his appearing and behaviour a la wild card.
Miss. Selenia humbly asks to be accepted as a gunner among the Eagle's crew, she believes that her natural ability to use well a gun and keep it functioning are to be respected as also her aim is as fine as her face.
Lord Von Ansager formally requests to be part of the Eagle's flight wing, if not as a pilot, at least as a backup one.
Also he asks to be welcomed among the crewmen as a cook and armsman too, as his cooking skills are as good as his prowess in fighting.
Also, we, with utmost sorrow, grieve on the losses the ship has suffered, and as such we are willing to spare some of our fortune to the cause, to help get the ship ready, the planes in the air, the food on the tables and the men at work.
The Baronies send their regards.''
There was also a raven sigil on the letter, apparently.
-
lol, Carn we are down to around 2 and a half with Reagan's craft
-
Actually we have 3 excluding Reagan's.
-
i counted the squid as half, it is still flying but heavily damaged
-
Oh I thought we were talking about planes there. Still, my point stands. I should finish my post in a bit though.
-
Optimistic omitting to cover up for my memory lapse, anyways, mercenaries, used to be told better odds then they have (or at least we can make interesting dialogue concerning that), anyways, the influx of engineers should serve to lighten some strain.
-
So uh, lost my post to a browser crash and didn't save the hard copy I had, will be rewriting it.
-
Ouch......
-
Finally finished rewriting it, had to cut some of the other perspectives I was planning on writing but this big chunk was really hard to write and I just wanted it done, I'll write up the other things I was planning and post them later.
-
I am temporarily resurrected to tell you that I'm not 100% dead.
I didn't post for a while, and I'm not gonna post for a little longer, due to some shenanigans.
-
I feel like I should tell you Mr. Owl is a smuggler. And I'm planning a sub plot around that. I don't what best practice is for introducing it. Also open to suggestions.
-
Mostly I'd say it depends on what the subplot entails. Are we going to get followed? Pissed off former employers coming after us? Someone infiltrating the crew to get at you? In most cases slow and steady, a few inner monologue bits about what the hell is going on. Your character's opinion on the ship etc.
Also should I post something or does someone else have anything planned?
-
I may time skip, but other than that nothing else.
-
I suppose I'll write up the other half of the post I originally meant to write, less important stuff than Davis displaying his survivalist tendencies. If it's not up tomorrow feel free to timeskip into Oblivion.
-
I'm fine with a jump to tomorrow, I've got nothing for this day, unless Ulric wants to continue conversing with Alison. I do have ideas for the next day though.
-
Could I create a subplot about Mr. Owl trying to steal the blood?
-
That depends, do you want Alison to hunt him down? Also not even Alister knows about it, the only ones outside of the Anglean deep science groups who know about it are Alison and Ulric.
-
I guess I'm asking how do you feel about it? Would you want to have that or leave him as a smuggler that didn't decide to risk jeopardizing his position with the new crew.
-
Considering that you asked first, I can run with it. You will have to fabricate a reason why he knows about the blood, and that it is worth stealing. I can't promise Alison and Alister won't stir things up if he does though.
-
Currently he believes he's trying to steal a drug similar to a steroid. Not that steroids have been invented.
-
But what reason does he have for thinking it's on the ship?
-
I'll tell you why
-
Also, scrap my previously proposed idea, I forgot how I wanted to articulate it
-
I need to post something.
-
Looks like I need to dust off the old draft I was working on... Excuse me I'll be a day or two.
-
So, I admit to having a long unexplained absence (personal life got in the way). I want to apologise for that. Considering that the last post in here and the cantina thread was months ago, I take it the story is cancelled?
-
I don't know? Border told me I was in charge but no one has been around in a while, I've attempted to write a post but with two people we might not get anywhere. We'll see if the others chime in and I might dust off the draft I'd been working on.
-
Alright then, just checking.
-
I may open up a Monster Hunter / GoIO crossover RP, but I don't know how many people on here actually play Monster Hunter.
