Calling all mercs for the traditional weekly skirmish!

Open signups for all the Sunday Skirmish events will be happening in this thread. As long as one of these events is going on this thread will host any free agents, mercs, or otherwise currently unsigned players. You have till the Friday before the event to sign up, with elections happening every Saturday till 10PM EDT for the two commanders who will decide on the final rosters. If we don't get a full team of 8 players every week, oh well, we don't play. Since you can change teams week to week, if you aren't able to fly with your usual team you might be able to make it onto that week's Black Cloaks roster. It's a great way to play in events you otherwise couldn't do.
Our first Sunday Skirmish will be #10, which I assume will be happening Sunday the 13th.

Actually I can push signups back to the end of Friday. We don't need to have elected leaders, just enough to say we can bring 8 on Saturday. Elections happen Saturday then until like 10PM EDT and then you find out if your are on the roster either that night or Sunday morning (assuming we even get 8 people).

It does. So far I'm the only candidate who has expressed interest. (EDIT: Woops, Hunter was interested too.) Remember you get 2 votes for separate people and you can vote for anyone who's signed up. Elections start midnight EDT. Seems we have 1 more than needed so the elected leaders pick the final roster.

Leader does not necessarily mean pilot, but it's not surprising that you'll find a lot of pilots running for leadership positions. Leaders don't have to play if they don't want to, but they are in charge of final rosters, ship selections, all the way down to player loud-outs if they want to be. They are in charge of the team for that single event and can be as strict or loose as they feel is best to lead the team to victory. I choose to split power into two people for a couple reasons. First off, that's how power has always worked in Guns of Icarus. You have multiple independent pilots, who have to come to a consensus if you want to win. Secondly, I modeled it off of the old Roman Republic method of electing two consuls. Thirdly I wanted to avoid situations where everyone only voted for themselves. Fourth, I wanted to guarantee that if the leadership for one event became unpopular, they wouldn't remain in charge simply by force of political power and the spoiler effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoiler_effect).

If you're thinking about getting some competitive play going on and really aren't sure you can grab up enough people. Try running for a slot with the black cloaks. They'll take care of you.^.^

Just need three more. I won't be around Saturday to run elections, but all the info on that is around. Two votes per person. Can't be for the same person. You don't have to use both votes. You can vote for yourself. We elect two commanders who can choose to not play and just lead the team if they wish.

Firstly I cannot be sure I'll be available due to the fact that I'm in Australia and the skirmish is at 5am on a school morning, however I will do my best to be there.

*Now for the other thing I wanted to talk about.
*I'm a player who purchased GoI through Steam. I use Steam on a daily basis (I have Art software and such on it) and I regularly check all notifications and such. I don't get the chance to check the GoI forums nearly as much. So I've decided to make a steam group for the Black Cloak's in hope's that it will make it easier for some players to get in contact and thus we can have enough players to compete each week.
The Group name is: "GoI Black Cloak Mercenary's" with myself (ASO Mensa) currently being the officer. I intend to give this position to one of the senior members of the Black Cloak's (Devs for example) to make it more official. I hope you can find a use for this, and that you don't think I've been stupid.
The group is set to public atm and is open to any members who come across it. Please join if you use steam, it might make things easier for the Black Cloak's Organisers.

Looks like Queso Dropped the Black cloaks this week as he'll be late :( I'll stand in as secondary lead in his place although i'll be flying with grim in the event he can't manage to arrive for any reasons.
