All of you who dislike the idea of the event don't need to participate.
There are plenty of events in the sea you can make in your own time.
That's assuming you would actually make and manage an event.
I for one like the idea of this event.

Yes, and nobody will. Any number of teams that would sign up to such an event would be nearly twice as big with Skyball taken out. The point of an event is to provide players something to work towards and provide the community something to watch. While the organizers aren't our butlers by any stretch of imagination, it's important that an event makes an attempt to cater to the participating community's preferences. In this case, skyball is extremely hated by the community and replacing it with KOTH is an extremely simple action that will go a long way to boost both the reception of the event and the number of teams participating.

Well, thats not a very positive way to address the issue.
Plenty of people like the idea of the event. Its unique. But, as stated by an organizer, the issue with skyball is knowing that teams are going to likely reserve the squid and/or goldfish for the event - making it slightly dull. However, skyball has more maos to choose from which compensates that fact.
KOTH is opposite of this. It doesnt have a likely ship to be reserved becsuse all ships are very viable in that game mode. However the map vhoice is limited.
Skyball is not as fun as KOTH to the majority of players. Plus, there are far more viable options for KOTH ship choice for the majority of players. Not only ship choice, but ship builds as well.
Also, many players participate is KOTH far more often than skyball. This makes the skill level much higher for KOTH and thus a better viewing and playing experiencd.

Skyball sucks compared to KOTH.

Participation seems to be about the same across various types of event. That being said, I already stated that we were willing to switch out Skyball for KOTH if that seemed to be the popular opinion. We, as the organizers, had held off from stating our decision for a few days to try to get a larger populations reactions to it. It's common that a loud minority drowns out the quieter majority but in the end we do make events in the hopes that players enjoy watching and playing the event. A lot of work from community members go into creating and executing an event and it's no fun for the organizers or players if no one enjoys it.
