Seasons & Weeks
« on: April 11, 2013, 05:12:32 pm »
Hey everyone,

Recently it has been brought up that some of you might like a win condition / end state to the Cogs system to allow for a winner and an extended break. Swallow and myself have been quietly discussing this for a short while now and have decided to throw open a poll.

The are 2 questions here that need to be answered.

1st. When the Cogs ends, would you like to see further seasons run after extended breaks in which all teams can start again?
2nd. How long would you like each season (including the current one) to run for? 8 weeks is the decided minimum however there are a few options. 8 Weeks, 10 Weeks, 12 Weeks, Longer(Post length)

As to the actual 'win condition' of the Cogs that is still being discussed by Swallow and myself and at this point is not open for discussion. You are of course welcome to post what you would like to see in this 'win condition' however both myself and swallow will not discuss our plans (when they are made) in this thread.

I would love to see some opinions on the idea of season and weeks from all of you.

Cheers,

Qwerty

I definitely want to see future seasons of it, that's for sure. It's hard to have an entire team ready every weekend, so keeping it relatively short like 8 weeks could work.

Being able to say you're the season 3 champions means a lot more than saying you held the number 1 slot for a little while.  Even if there's no breaks between seasons, just being able to say you definitely won and that you got a trophy or a special costume from Muse or the front page or whatever will do a lot more to keep things interesting.  It also means there's less of a chance that a new team, which will naturally want a lot of fights, will have to wait over a month for a fight while older teams, who are more in danger of burning out, have to field a team for a high-stress game almost every week.

The Cogs is a great thing, so it should definetly continue. IMO, 8 weeks is pretty nice for a season. Also, I would strongly suggest  final tournaments at the end of each season.

If we go by sports then yeah go with a standard season and then have playoffs where you could utilize a best of setup. Say 3-5 or whatever. Could have some heated battles in a best of playoffs with teams coming down to huge tie breaker fights. That would be fun to watch and great entertainment.

Well, looks like The Raft will play one more match in this season.

Will the seeding for the start season two just be the same of whatever we have at the end of season one?

Nope, likely going to have a quick tournament during the off season to work out seeding for season 2

Let's just hope it won't be as long as Fjords or anything.
