It's not gonna happen. It would require rework of the entire game.

Hoja Lateralus:
"More stuff but "better" because I want it" is not a real suggestion. There are new ships in Alliance, you can pre-order it and play alpha if you want, but they all are fit for 4 crew members.

Milevan Faent:
More crew means your game would freeze. You realize that, right? The game is optimized with the number of players in mind. If more are added, the game will experience MASSIVE lag and everyone will whine. Not gonna happen. That's not even touching on the balance issues.
