Clockeye:
I just had an idea.... are the fractions gonna have different languages?
I mean, maybe not entire languages, but dialects?
Of course all the fracions are based on existing or past cultures, so maybe they would
differ with their speech as well?
Fjord baronies, with their traditions could speak in some "old speech" which would be a very precise but oldschool english.
Agleans would naturally have some strong accents like northerners from "Game of Thrones", or Nords from The Elder Scrolls.
I can imagine Arashi with a whole set of different dialects, some might be even entirely new, since they are from different tribes.
Yeshan are self-explanaining with their Japaneese references.
What do you gentleman think of it?
Carn:
It is mentioned that there is no word for "happy" in the Anglean language, that the closest word means "without suffering". It can be derived that there are several languages in this world.
Clockeye:
Damn, good point. I totally forgot about it!
I remember reading that in the subtext, while waiting in the lobby.
Carn:
I do think it reasonable that there would be a common language, particularly one fostered by the Guild.
ShadedExalt:
Trade Languages are extremely common in many societies and times in humanity's development. Seeing as how English is the Language of Business, I'd say the easiest thing would be to keep it as a kind of "inter-faction language", kinda like Common from D&D.
I mean our characters speak it in game...
