are we excited?!
Helios.:
on the website we got this little dolip of whats beign worked on.
im excited for new skirmish content!!!!
For skirmish:
Battle Arena – Each team has a fortress that must be protected. If a fortress is destroyed, the other team wins. (no creeps or anything else)
Skyball – A soccer / basketball-like mode. Drag the floating ball-barge into the opponent’s goal to score.
VIP – A deathmatch variant, where only killing the enemy team’s VIP ship counts towards the score.
For Alliance:
Protection (working title) – Coop VIP mode. One player ship must be escorted through the map and to the exit without it dying.
Escape – Players race against the clock to the map exit, destroying numerous obstacles in their path.
Dementio:
I am afraid Squid kills the VIP gamemode

VIP ships: Spire, Junker, Galleon, Mobula. Each team must have atleast one of these to be able to start the match. If there are more than one of these the VIP ship will either a) Picked randomly at the start of the game or b) Picked randomly during the lobby and the title can be passed on and swapped with other captains who bring one of these 4 ships.

As someone who's already played the VIP mode a couple times: VIP is always the top ship in the lobby (regardless of what ship class they are). In game a VIP symbol should flash on the opposing VIP every few seconds unless they are actually spotted, then the symbol stays solid. A non-VIP killing the VIP is valued at 1 point, the VIP killing the VIP is valued at 2 points.
Everything previously stated above is subject to change, but that's how its currently being engineered. Squids are fine.

If my information is correct there are two ways to win the (unofficial) VIP mode: Kill the VIP a couple of times, or kill all the ships on the enemy team once. This gets around the problem of a VIP squid theoretically running away, surviving everything and letting teammates do the fighting while it plays relatively safely, by giving the teammates some kind of danger to worry about aswell and killing the squid once afterwards because there is no other pain to it as there is whittling down it's hull every engagement before finishing it off for the final kill. The VIP mode devs are describing doesn't have the second feature, so I can see how it could be a problem there.
