« on: April 29, 2013, 06:06:04 pm »
So I was playing with this guy who was playing squid he was called "Pakkela" and he said after the game that he was "Ganking" our ships and I was confused as to what this means and even after being told what it means I was still confused, so I decided to make a thread to discuss Slang in this game and the meaning of the Slang

ganking may be a slang term taking from games such as dota 2 and lol.
To repeatedly kill a virtual game character after they get resurrected aka spawn rape in WoW.
Or when one high level player does the same action to a player way below his or her own level

My favorite GOI slang is:
Gungineer - an engineer who is shooting a gun for most of the match but can be relied upon for emergency repairs.
The Trifecta - getting three guns shooting on one target
Boinking - ramming with the intent of moving an enemies guns out of their fire arc.
Helium uppercut or Shoryuken - Using helium while under an enemy ship to increase the damage dealt by a ram.
Kiting - flying backwards with long range guns to prolong the length of time you ship can shoot an enemy before it can shoot back.
Lifting out/in - using helium/chutevent to get out of an enemies guns to give your engineer time to repair.

Hot engines : kerosene is on
Cycle guns: open fire
Bogey: enemy
Blue: friendly
Bow: front
Aft/tail: back
Port: left
Starboard: right
Turning left/right hard: using Phoenix claw
Bug out:  get away from enemy fire
Ink: tar barrel

Well, this is more like my jargon.  Though I've played with plenty of different people, he'll rarely the same people very often, and most everyone knows what I mean.

My slang is all over soooooooo I guess I'll start simple.

Teehee:  I just destroyed something with a flaregun
Teeheeheehee:  I'm on a Lumberjack.
Slightly Sadistic Laughing:  I'm still on a Lumberjack
Sadistic Laughter:  "What, you think charging my lumberjack is gonna save you?  Bet you wish you were faster than me when those incendiary rounds just screwed you over."
9 o'clock:  I probably mean 3 o'clock 'cause I'm facing the wrong way.
3 o'clock:  I probably meant 9 o'clock 'cause I'm facing the wrong way.

The other stuff I say that don't make sense...is most likely stuff I'm saying that don't make sense and I have no clue what I'm saying.

Keon already handled raspberries.

Poodled: Enemy is hooked on a harpoon.
Coconutting: The act of pre-buffing a component but stopping just 1 buff-hit before it activates
Liming the coconut: Activating the buff at the most advantageous time.

"LeftradfgarRIGHTasdgungugngunggun"
Translates to "I'm flustered and no matter what you do on my ship I will be unhappy and I am unfairly taking it out on you and I am very much sorry."

Specific to the Junker
"Frontgineer." when an engineer is in charge of repairing the hull from in front and below it as well as using front gun.

Zill: Slang for OP.

Has it come to this?

Gungineer: No. You are an engineer.

X needs "a whack": Repair it when you can.

Did you buff my balloon....?: Prior to 1.2, it meant that I dislike your buffing decisions.

Popped: Destroyed in some fashion.

Locked: They are pinned and going nowhere.

Loch 'em: Lochnager plez.

Just learn to live with your status of GOI's boggy man at least until DrSpaceman returns and kills everyone.

Here is some more of the slang I use:

Chicken footing - Using phoenix claw to turn.
Juicing engines - Moonshine on engines
Juice is off - Moonshine no longer on
We are stable/dead in the air - I stopped my turn or forward/backward movement gunners will be more accurate now.
Hold fire till my mark... Mark! - don't shoot until I say... now shoot. useful to prevent gunners from shooting the hwacha while the ship is turning.

Lost shot high/low/left/right: I can no longer shoot the target since it is too high/low/left or right

On (Component Name) - Lets captain and the other engineer know that I am heading to a component to repair. Prevents other engineer from unnecessary double teaming.

I guess I'll put some of mine in here:

Sorrry! - I probably ran into my teammate

Got it! - I just realized that I'm an engineer, and should be repairing something I wasn't....

Hydrogen Uppercut - I tried to do something cool, and failed miserably

He once tried to tell me Lesmok didn't work on flamethrowers. I think I'll be alright.

Teabag - Ramming down
Teabag of Destiny - Ramming down with chute vent

First time I heard these I ran into a wall, cause I couldn't steer for laughing. Missed the ram entirely.
