New Heavy Weapon

Sans the safety guard.

Maybe replacing the drill on the Kraken heavy harpoon gun.

I imagine it could inherit Piercing-shatter damage.

However, the only ship that can make any practical use of this is Goldfish. The spire is simply too situational and would rather have a slightly more ranged gun in the form of hwacha/carro/mino, and it would end up being largely useless on galleon that can hardly control range to get this thing in.

Well, it is about god damned time there is a gun that works better on the Goldfish than anything else. Am I right?

Distance? That is why it would have four to five harpoons as well.

That would be a troll build on the level of Munker, I would say.

You...want a giant chainsaw to mount on your ship?

Are you absolutely bonkers?
You obviously want two.

...and I also seem to recall an airship that actually HAD chainsaws mounted on the sides of its ship.
...where was it?

Ah here it is.
The Urbanus class Warship from the Anime "Last exile"

I was actually looking at the Baggar 293 for a 'Salt mine' map idea when I ran across that image.

Also, I have seen that anime.

As far as damage, it would have to be Piercing/Flechette (and if they add Falloff as a third damage, Shatter). I can't see a thing like this doing virtually no damage to a balloon. Or you could just make it all Impact. Unless, of course, the blade was on fire. Wait, it could be! Incendiary! Mwaaahahahahaha!

Very high risk, high reward gun. It would have a larger hitbox than other guns (if possible) so is easier to disable. The range would be rubbing hulls range, so you have to get very close. The blade would be stationary as well as no range (the harpoons would be on the turning seat), so the pilot would have to be very precise with ship positioning. The harpoons would be the gunner's main concern.

I imagine the stats would be like...

Primary: Piercing
Secondary: Shatter
Range: 50m
Rate of Fire: Super high
Clip size: Super high
Ammo types: Greased for DPS, Incendiary for fire stacks

Kinda like a melee range Heavy Gat. It would work like any gun, doing damage without having to actually ram. Maintaining pointblank range for the weapon's DPS will be interesting. Harpoon Drill Spire?

After some figuring, the blade would be about 10 meters long measured past the mounting platform. The blade itself would be be built low into the mounting platform/gun base and would be stationary. This would extend the blade almost to the end of the Goldfish balloon, and would extend quite far from the sides of a Galleon. It would have a quad harpoon launcher mounted on the top in the usual gun position. The harpoons would have high vertical arcs, but very limited horizontal, much like the Lumberjack.

The weapon would have two functions. Function A would be primary fire using the left mouse button, which would fire the harpoons. They would automatically retract on contact. like the old harpoon. Harpoons would be fired sequentially, so you could get all four harpoons in one ship, or harpoon several ships. Reload would be long.

Function B would be secondary fire using the left mouse button, which would activate the saw. The saw would have no reload, running continuously for as long as you hold the button.

Every galleon would suddenly become a dual wielding knight.
God save us from galleon duels.

On another thought, I would be the first to fly around with four harpoon blades.

Poor Spires, with their armour and hull made of hopes and dreams, would never be able to survive such a terrible weapon.
