In the East... The Voidstation Looms.

<< < (2/2)

Jessica Kitai:
*Clong-ong-ong-ong-ng-ng*  The noise echoed through the empty halls like a brass gong. Somewhere in that darkness was a steam boiler that changed temperature, causing it's metal casing to bend ever so slightly. It was this, along with the constant hissing of pressurized pipes and the drips of condensation onto the wooden deck panels, that gave the voidstation it's eerie symphony of sound. Jessica found herself indulging in the music whenever she had the change; it soothed her and reminded her of her distant home.

She walked along the corridors of the beast she had spent the larger part of her life creating from the hulls of her fallen foes. It was dark here, the interior saw no sunlight from the density of the jagged wooden panels and re-assembled bronze piping. It was hard to see where the ghost of one ship connected to another anymore. The voidstation was growing quite large now. It's hunger would soon be satiated. And then...

She wasn't walking anywhere in particular. She was merely enjoying her stroll through the forest. It was always a pleasure to see her ancient handiwork. There was so much time poured into this project, it seemed impossible that it was her own hands that had stitched these vessels together into the giant that she stood within. Ahead there was a light, inviting and warm. The breeze caught hold of the folds in her kimono-like overthrow and warmed her skin, settling a score of goose bumps across her arms. She walked around a wooden panel to find the open air, and a make-shift balcony taken from the helm of a witless galleon. She stared out over the horizon with a smile.

The wreckage of a great sky leviathan lay strewn in the burren sands before her. It's bulk and mass was absolutely delicious looking to the master salvager. She noted the small fly-like creatures that buzzed around it. How tiny they all were. She ran a hand through her long golden hair before retrieving a mouthpiece from the nearby wall. She raised it to her lips and depressed the button on it's side. There came a burst of feedback as her audio system clicked in, after which she spoke.

"Attention enemy vessels: The voidstation lays claim to this salvage. I recommend surrendering or fleeing while you can. If you wish to prove your claim over this wreckage as superior, we will be glad to add the mass of your ship to ours. The voidstation is hungry, and it is time to feed."
