Why do we blame Shink?

As I understand it, Shink was Rear Admiral  Zill's co captain for many tournaments. He had the unenvious job of trying to keep up with someone I still consider the best pilot in the game. As such he would die a lot because he couldn't get away clean when Zill decided to break contact.

I consider Zill the best pilot but not necessarily the best captain or tactician. He would do things with pilot tools and gaps just big enough to fit a goldfish that still confuse me to this day.
