In full seriousness, and in light of the loadout recommendation changes, I'd like to suggest something somewhat drastic.

Remove the Rangefinger. Fire Extinguisher is no longer useless, leaving Rangefinder as the sole tool that someone can take that's entirely useless. There are potentials for bad loadouts, with crew taking tools like Moonshine or inappropriate (double fire control) loadouts, but Rangefinder is an entirely non-functional tool. It's going to lead to frustration on the part of experienced players and newer players having a "trap option" in the game.

It can be brought in when it has a function-right now, it's just a trap.

And add the range feature to the spyglass of gunners to give them more utility.

Devs have three valid options:
A) Let rangefinder abilities be absorbed by spyglass
B) Delete rangefinder (since it's useless)
C) Make rangefinder useful, for instance making it "spot" ships for a limited amount of time. I'm not saying about spotting per se, I just mean that when a ship is spotted we should just click it once with a rangefinder and then distance would be shown for crew members for some amount of time (instead of being forced to watch the object through rangefinder all the time).

Muse knows about this very well, but rangefinder is not a priority.

Dropping the map grid to 500m even made what little it does less useful
