Ok, so I don't know if this is the right thread for this. But I thought, why not write a backstory for some ancestor? And so, I give you the tale, of the first Carn.

His father, was the last king of the giant gorillas, and his mother was the tallest mountain. His birth, created the first Volcano. He was 10 feet tall, and is considered to be the discoverer of alcohol. Every kind of alcohol, from wine, to vodka, to beer, to rum. On his fifth birthday, he threw a whale into the skies, creating the race of skywhales. Though not the first to discover it, he was the one to make the world know the deliciousness of bacon. He did this by riding upon the skywhale, who was his friend for all their lives. Sadly, many small tribes couldn't agree on which was more mighty. The skywhale, or the bacon. His favorite weapon, was his mother's favorite brooch. In his hands it was a mighty axe, though on his mother, the first volcano, it was but a decoration. Sadly, in his old age, he fell into madness. He went on a rampage that culminated in him striking the ground with his axe. At that time you know, There was only 1 continent and no islands. Carn changed that. During a brief break in his madness, he realized what he had done. And so, he charged into hell and it is said that he fights Satan himself, and all volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, are a result of this titanic battle. Due to the terror he wrought in his old age, such calamities were considered like Carnsage, eventually this was shortened to carnage, the word we know today.

His decedents are many and span several dimensions. But all are powerful, and enjoy a good axe, and a stiff drink........

Long story short, The First Shaded created the land, the sea, and most importantly the sky.  He embodied the concepts of Curiosity, Creation, and Exploration.

This is not to say he made the land, sea, and sky, he just shaped what was present.

Here's what I remember of the earliest of the Stewarts

    He was born long ago of a water nymph mother and a great eagle father, both among the last of their kind, among the tall staunch rock of the fjords as they were back then. His father taught him wisdom and nobility and his mother taught him music and curiosity. He took immediate love of both exploration and craftsmanship and began to travel the world learning all he could wherever he went. His best skill was blacksmithing, learned from his visits to the far west. Legend goes as far as to say he forged a great brooch to decorate the tallest mountain, and impressed by the sound of his hammer, invented drumming in the process. When wartime arose, his regal demeanor and wisdom drew great armies to his side. He never failed to elicit success, even in the face of defeat, making him the most trusted leader among allies, and the most respected among the enemy.
    One day whilst one of his soldiers was playing on a fiddle, another fiddler began to start. To prevent a dispute, Stewart stepped in and proposed a revolutionary idea, that they play together. One by one, more musicians began to join and soon every instrumentalist in his army was playing together and thus the orchestra was invented. That same orchestra played his funeral march after he was eventually killed in battle. His offspring are many and varied, marked by commanding character and an affinity for fine skill.

It was more a thing to Koali and ShadedExalt. aceofeagles, more commonly known as Spades. His character was baronies, used a rapier, and eagles was part of his actual name. What happened to him? Anyone know?

Sorry for the necro, but I wanted to store here my canonical character info

Name: The Crow of Cainhurst (by strangers),
Strayed (nickname used both by the Baronies army and by people that know him),

Age: presumed early 20es

Occupation: jack of all trades (while scouting), Baronies advanced scout (official)
Faction: Fjord Baronies (official), none (while scouting)

Personality: Unless obliged, he'll stay a loner and be a very silent person.
Despite his war-ready appearance, he's a very diplomatic guy, that'll stay cool in many occasions, even when staying toe to toe with death.
When people get to know him better he reveals a very kind and gentle behavior, and if someone gets to know him enough to be called "a true friend", he'll stay loyal to the end and will try to help when possible.

Appearance: He wears in many occasions a very polished and light metal armor, while being tall himself a bit more than 6 feet, the armor gives him some extra height, that combined with his cloak made of crow feathers contributes to make him look quite menacing to the common people, and as a presumptuous any brawl-worthy target by more... ungentlemanlike people.
His weapons of choice are a saber, kept at his left side, and an enormous amount of light firearms kept under his wide cloak.

Bio: He was born and raised in a small city on the eastern coasts of the Fjords, near Ravenrook, in Cainhurst Castle where he grew up with the sons of the nobles, being his father one of the most important advisors of the Cainhurst Family. Trained in the art of sword fight, he became quite proficient with sabres.
In his late teens, as he began to inherit his father's job, a group of pirates, driving a little mixed fleet of ships of various designs, attacked the city, and those fjordlanders who were ready to fight immediately jumped on the few battle-ready Spires and Crusaders in possession of the city. Taking his saber and, as a good-luck trinket, a crow-feathered cloak, he embarked and helped the defenders. When the battle was over, he decided that he'd take up military career as an airship pilot. Days later, he asked as a gift for his departure from the Cainhurst family a suit of armor, and after that he joined as a volunteer for multiple fjordland counter-raids against the pirates. In few years he partook in quite a number of sorties, making him become renown among his peers for being a lover of grand broadsides, ram attacks and boarding actions.
Being largely seen as a loner, he was deemed apt for long-range single-ship scouting operations, and he has being doing that ever since the assignment was given, acting as a wandering informer for the Baronies. Hiding among people under the façade of being a common mercenary.
Nothing suggests him being involved in such operations and his only connection to the Baronies are his family living there and the knightly behavior.

Secret: Doesn't know how to shoot properly so he uses frequently spray n' pray tactics, explaining why he has multiple flintlock guns and small blunderbusses strapped all over his clothing.

Update for Uncharted Skies

Name: Alister Carn
Race: Human, of Anglean decent
Occupation: Mercenary, specializing in gunning, hand to hand, and explosives.
Faction: Formerly the Anglean Republic, currently whoever pays.

Personality: Variable. Quick to laugh, and quick to anger. He tries to keep himself on a leash, but on occasion things get loose. Despite many people's opinions he is intelligent, with a knack for unconventional and effective strategies. Loyal to anyone he considers a friend, and friend means family with him. He has the potential to go into a berserker frenzy, when properly provoked.

Bio: Orphaned at a young age, he grew up in the cramped alleys of Kinforth, the underground Anglean capital. Upon discovering a natural talent of fighting, begin living off money won in illegal fighting pits. At the age of 14, a recruiter found him and convinced him to enlist. During bootcamp, he showed imense potential. At the age of 15, and having just completed basic, he was assigned to the Marauders, the elite fighting force of the Angleans. You can imagine the type of ego that created. Unknown to him, his superiors were cultivating him to become a ruthless berserker, in short, their personal attack dog. On a mission at the age of 19 to clear out a bandit camp, he came across a young woman named Alison. Since then the two have had a turbulent relationship. The one thing that leaves Alister fully indebted to her is that she is the one who set him on the path to understanding what was being done to him. At the age of 21, he was involved in a bloodbath where he earned the title of Butcher, this event fully awakened him to what was going on. He proceeded to blackmail his way out, stating that he will leave Anglea and never return, not speaking of the war crimes committed, so long as they let him leave in peace and send no one after him. Since those days, he has roamed the world, fighting for or against nearly everyone.

Appearence: He favors a boarding axe as his mêlée weapon, and wields it well due to his size.  He has a large caliber, old world pistol which he shoots left handed. These weapons always stay with him, and others come along go.  In addition, he is often seen in his armor, a thigh length jacket of kevlar and tungsten plating. He wears this under a shirt, usually red, and a long black overcoat, faded where badges his old rank and accomplishments.  He has an old armadillo style helmet that usually sits over his ragged buzzcut, of blood red hair. He is also one of the few possesors of a sand devil mask, a testament of his skill.

I thought I'd chime in here a little bit.

For Uncharted Skies:

Name: Davis Hargrave
Age: 29
Origin: Chaladon
Affiliations: House Hargrave, Chaladonian Archaeology Corps
Occupation: Mercenary Pilot

Bio: The son of a wealthy architect and geologist, Davis Hargrave was never in want growing up. As a young child he was given a number of tutors to teach him the ways of the world and how it works. Often these tutors were worldly explorers who would dazzle him with stories of their adventures as much as they would explain how a plant reproduces and survives in different environments. It was because of these influences that Davis gained his interest in the wider outside world which led him to pursue archaeology and physics in university as well as joining the school's rifle club. It was near his graduation at the age of 26 that a close encounter with Henley antics and Richard Morgan's piloting influenced his attempt at joining the Chaladonian Defense Corps. However due to his father's influence and standing no one was willing to sign him on, forcing him to leave the island in order to pursue his own prospects. With the assistance of his elder and immediate younger sisters he managed to stow away on an outbound freighter to the rest of the Burren where for the next 3 years he built up a rather obscure reputation as a skilled pilot and rifleman before eventually settling down in Cathedral where he conducts the most of his business.

Personality: Quick witted, easily irritated and slow to anger. He's intelligent and uses this to his advantage as he charges in head first. His family pride pushes him to see a job to the end no matter how screwed the situation is so long as the intentions of his employer don't fall in the same vein as banditry and murder.

Appearance: 5'10" with short reddish brown hair. Of average build and weight. He often wears a bomber jacket with Chaladonian Naval Airforce roundels over a white button-up, brown leather vest and suspenders, pants and a set of black leather gloves. His sidearm is often holstered within his coat while his rifle is often left unloaded in whatever aircraft he's assigned in case of emergencies.
