No visible crew on enemy ship?

Why am I not able to see enemy/friendly crew on the ships? With this game it's quite important to see what the enemy is doing, so you can see which guns are manned, for example. Why did they leave this out of the game. or is it a bug?

It's apparently possible to see crew on other ships if you have your settings maxed out, though I haven't seen this myself.  There's no separate option for this, certainly.

It looks maxed out, though you can try enabling V-sync.  Could be that people have been bullshitting me to win arguments.  A separate option to enable this would be nice, in spectator mode you can see the steampunk antfarms by default so it shouldn't be a significant performance issue.

I know there's some button you can press to toggle crew in spectator, try looking it up in the keybindngs and press it again.

Press a number on the keypad (1 - 4 in 2v2) to select a ship to look at.

You can see the crew even if you're free-floating, though.

I tried it with the fixed camera position on one sihp, but I think I am only able to see the crew on the fixed ship, if I do some tricky camera movements to see the other crew of the ships I don't see anyone (Not even the pilot, which should always be there controlling the ship).

Also in a normal game (not spectating) I still don't see the enemy crew... :(

Your link is blocked for me at work. They removed the toggle for seeing crew on other ships (used to be called Extreme Detail) because it was indeed a performance issue for many players and as far as i know, it is simply included now at the highest graphic settings instead of toggle-able.

Could you describe what setting it is that toggles this?

I'm running everything at max and still can't see any crew except my own.
Is it possible to enable this via an .ini-file perhaps? If so, where can I find this?

I was under the impression that it was removed completely (for network rather than local graphics performance reasons?), as I've always used highest graphics settings and never seen any crew on any other ship during a game... Considering I only got the game about a month ago, and that was when the last posts in this thread were, it may have changed around then.
Some posts here are talking about spectator mode though, and there I do see crew members, when focussed on a particular ship.
