Rearview Mirror

Arturo Sanchez:
or just you know...

glass floors.

in fact lets not have ships. they're in the way of my view of the terrain i need to navigate.

Squidslinger Gilder:
Ya know in racing games they also have to render another screen in the mirror too? There is a reason rear view mirrors were crappy till probably about the PS2 era, and even then they were bad. It was extra work that the console just couldn't handle with pushing higher details on the car and screen in front.

Now it would be entirely possible with GOIO, however, it would be the same idea. Low end hardware would crap out. Granted you could cut the resolution of it down to ultra crappy but it is still extra resources drawing on screen. People wouldn't be happy with cloudy wire frames so you'd have to render part of the world too. Then there is the question of how much. Likely would need heavy fog to hide draw in so then the question is how much range would it be?

Doable? Likely yes. Something I'd like? Yes. But given how rough Unity is with performance at times, along with bugs...it might be more trouble than it is worth.

Arturo Sanchez:
also clouds makes this dumb.

you'd have to invent a wipe mirror button, because with all those water vapours you bet your  ass that glass is gonna steam up.

Buff hammers can now interact with mirrors

New achievement: "Smoke and Mirrors."

Squid's hull health is now increased to 1200 and acceleration is buffed again to compensate for it's lack of viability as a whole, so have mirror testers reported.
