I'd say.

I have it too.

And I feel the shot at the GoIO devs isn't warranted, especially if you're trying to commandeer the GoIO playbase in the GoIO forums.

--- End quote ---

Wow, soooourrr. THOMAS, Unless you know for a FACT that I'm trying to commandeer the GOIO playerbase, then I'd keep that to yourself. My mistake for posting in the wrong area, which is why I said
--- Quote ---Not quite a GOIO thing
--- End quote ---
, in case it was wrong. Now, I may be going out on a limb here, but it may be entirely possible that some players of GOIO also play Verdun, and those players may not know about a Verdun tournament. It may also be possible that if some of those those people do also play GOIO competitively, that they may be able to juggle two tournaments in their life.

And I will criticize the devs all I want. I like most of them personally and am on friendly basis with most of them. That doesn't mean that I will stop voicing my legitimate thoughts and concerns on any area of the game they handle. Personally, as an artist I value the negative criticism a lot more than the positive to learn where to improve. You need to back off.

Thomas:
Underline -and- caps. Oh man, thank baby Jesus there wasn't a bold; things might have gotten serious. (I'd do a /sarcasm but I plan on continuing to roll with it)

But yeah, posting a competitive event for another game on this games forums while at the same time criticizing these devs and their involvement with the competitive scene and going down on the Verdun devs for their involvement with their competitive scene doesn't paint a pretty picture.

You might even be able to translate it into "Hey guys! Are you tired of the GoIO competitive and want to get in on some real action where the devs actually love you? Come on over to Verdun baby~!"

Can people play both games? Absolutely~ Myself and a lot of my GoIO friends actually own Verdun. There's a pretty good chance that we own other games than those two as well, a lot of which have competitive scenes. It just takes a certain level of tact and social awareness to realize that what you're doing is stupidly rude to both Muse and the GoIO playerbase. People check out the GoIO forums for GoIO related content, the same way they check out the Verdun forums for Verdun stuff. People can be interested in both, in the same way people can be interested in porn and lucky charms. But you don't go into the grocery store and promote porn in the cereal isle.

As for commandeering players, that appears to more or less be the goal with the unprovoked shot at the GoIO devs. Seriously, that line in the OP served no purpose other than making one group appear better than the other; promoting a choice between the two. Most competitive events also occur on the weekends, this is true for all games. This makes it unlikely for players to be able to compete in multiple games at once. So even though this tournament occurs on a Friday, many gamers would find it difficult to give up two whole days of their weekend, PLUS extra time during the week to practice and play both games.

Normally this kind of thread should be deleted outright, as it doesn't belong anywhere on these forums. Muse tends to be on the lenient side of things though. Post a GoIO tournament on the Verdun forums and it'd likely be gone before the day ends. Hell, post a promotion for any game on a different games forums and that shit wouldn't be tolerated.

Surprised I got through that without any personal insults. Was terribly tempted to make some snide remarks about the TB competitive team. Good luck in the Verdun tournament.

Byron Cavendish:
I know, right? Words are hard...and scary! But sometimes you gotta emphasize certain things so they're clear. I do that with my baby nephew and it works wonders.

I'm honestly truly sorry that you live in a world where you view everything with such immediate distrust and suspicion, that must truly be rough. Say what you will, but you are really displaying your real  character here. See up until today, I thought you were a decent guy who had some early great lore ideas and did some helpful things for the community. I dunno, maybe joining SPQR changed your personality, or it's just coming to light.

Sadly, my intentions were pure and I actually thought I could discuss a non GOIO related tournament. If you think I have the power to convert the small GOIO community to another game I'm honored but that really could never happen. See I actually have fought and worked hard for this games tournament scene long before you were even aware of it. And I still want it to be larger and better. You see that's why I said what I said about the devs. It is criticism yes, but you missed the point. It wasn't to derail this game's scene, but to lament that it wasn't supported by the devs and much larger as it should be.

So I'm sorry to say your conspiracy theory about me is wrong, but flattering.

And I invite you to say whatever you will about my TB team. I've watched this game's scene since it's inception. The Ducks under Squash were big for awhile, then the Gents under Roy, a little bit of Wolfpack with Maverick, then the Gents for awhile when I took over, then the Ducks again, and then SPQR and the Ryders. Every team, every clan goes through phases. My intention with my TB team was never to win at all costs, I gave that up when I left the Gents. We compete to have fun, and because we enjoy the game. I feel nothing is purer than that. And I take pride in the fact that I made a clan for friends, and honoring my friend who cared more about this game than anyone before he died. At least I never gave up on my cool themed clan, to join another big name one just to win, not naming names mate ;). So think down on me, or my team, or my balls to voice my opinion about GOIO if I think it could do better if you'd like, or anyone else. It only displays your character. And I don't hate you for that, but I do pity you.

Thomas:
The inability to defend the intentions of the OP degrades into chest thumping, petty insults, and instigation. Classic Byron. You even manage to bring up he-who-shall-constantly-be-mentioned, although that took a lot longer than usual.

First to clear up some ignorance. I've always been a jerk. Always. I'm a jerk because I love this game and I don't like slimey people trying to ruin this game or the community. The only reason I stopped being a jerk was when I became a CA and had to be a good role model. I quit being a CA because I felt I wasn't doing enough to help the community. So here we are.

As for Holy, because you're ever so subtle, that was disbanded for the same reason a lot of other clans have disbanded; lack of members. I'm not a good clan leader, I never have been. I was not inclined to keep a dying clan alive, so I made the choice I felt was best. I disbanded it and encouraged the officers to form their own clan. With me out of the picture, they've been doing pretty darn good. And to think I joined SPQR because of a big name shows off even more ignorance, despite your watching the community for so long. SPQR wasn't a big name at the time and didn't turn into a big clan for several months. It's just a collection of honestly good people who are fun to hang out with.

And while I'm being open and honest, and this is going to be a little painful, let TimmyB rest. He was a decent guy and a good community member. That being said, I hardly knew him. He didn't do anything that particularly stood out in the community at all. And that's totally fine. But saying he cared more about this game than anyone...

Hopefully this sates your lust for baiting people.

To get somewhat back on topic, you completely avoided nearly all of my arguments. Particularly that non-GoIO content shouldn't be in GoIO forums. PMing people would be a much better approach. But to come onto these forums and try and pull players into another game is excessively low. This isn't saying people should only talk about or play GoIO, but that's what these forums are for! You don't just go into another game's forums and try to promote a completely different game! There's a reason you don't see flyers for Mechwarrior tournaments, guides for Skyrim, recruitment threads for WoW clans, or suggestions for new weapons in Evolve. This makes sense, right?

Most gamers have a certain level of respect for games and their developers, which is why this shit doesn't happen. If I went into the TF2 forums promoting GoIO tournaments, I'd be disrespecting TF2, the developers, and the players who go to those forums. What you're doing is the equivalent of walking into Howard's house and taking a big ol' dump on his rug. You even managed to insult him in the process. Any other company would plant a boot right in your face and delete the thread. But with Muse (mods and all), they're so nice that they're more likely to pretend to ignore it.

What you're doing is wrong and insulting. And if you think flinging shit at me and anyone who doesn't agree with you is going to change that, you're not nearly as smart as you think.
