In all seriousness, once you get the crazy arcs and arming distances down, mines become a ridiculously satisfying offensive weapon.
Hawchafish turning his gun to 'ya? Knock his gunner off mark!
Sniper Mobula annoying you? Surround him with mines, and detonate then all!
WARNING: offensive mining requires a good pilot, a good miner, and two good engineers.
Things either go really well, or really poorly.
