Voice Commands
« on: February 15, 2015, 02:16:16 pm »
I have brainstormed with the global chat for a few minutes before coming up with this.

So let's say, we have youtubers all across the globe promoting icarus, like Khovansky and Madyson, sure muse made special costumes for them, but that didnt really help solve the fact that when their foreign playerbase floods in it's likely for them to be unable to communicate in the language their captain might be speaking in, thus creating language barriers and possibly being detrimental to their vessel for that very reason. Voice commands can do the trick, but they're not the most reliable considering some of them are inevitably less eye friendly than others (See: Man-guns commands) I understand muse is not the most ethically diverse indie company and does not have the manpower to add more languages in the voice commands.

However, the community may. What I propose is an official competition that allows players to submit their own voices in their native languages. If there are multiple of the same languages, best one(s) get added into the game. If there's only one submission for a certain language then they're added right away with no catch. I think this would be a grandoise addition in the game that can easily be implemented.

I like it, but there is also male and female voices of the same language. Meaning there will have to be both a male and a female voice submission.

I can do 2 languages that arent in the roster, just dont know i will do them justice.

Having atleast one gender's VA is just fine, albeit a bit confusing for newer players. But I certainly wouldnt say no to both.

You're in luck! The workshop is slated to support custom voice commands by the next patch

That is not luck for me at all, im going to have to give my voice samples to someone who can submit stuff into workshop. The workshop submission form is an american thing which i have no information to submit with meaning i cant submit.

Incorrect me if im... incorrect. But ide have to give my files to someone who can submit.

it wouldn't hurt to send an email to feedback@musegames.com about it - it's possible we can come up with a workaround.

I can submit anything you need. I did so for Lambert and the SAC decal before he could get his Steam thing working.

I do like the language thing. I assume that means you will hear the V commands in the language you select to hear, rather than the language the broadcasting player picks (No more Japanese! Yay!). Great idea, even if the voices are not 100% quality. This should also be an option to carry over into the text comments.

In a related thread, I made a workshop concept that included a voice pack button. :D
