Colored Flares
Lieutenant Noir:
This is a fairly short topic so not much debate
How would you guys feel of having different ammo types dictate which color the flare shoots out, instead of just wanting to put in heatsink because it gives you three shots.
Of course, voice and text chat communication nullifies any usage in communication via color coordination flaring.
I would however like the ability to disco in any other color than neon green.
Besides, only "Clan" clan gets to bask in the glory of color-coordinated victory screens. Why can't other color-coordinated clans join in the fun.
ShadedExalt:
The Bards get actual Disco, then, because we're white. Ammo type is meh, but I like the idea itself.
Indreams:
Can't believe I've missed this topic.
Yea! Colored flares!
In fact, I want to push for a little flare specializations.
Flare is one of only two utility gun in the game. Instead of creating more utility guns, why not let certain ammos do certain things on a flare? (and make gunners more valuable?)
I've expressed this before, but...
Burst should cause fire work. Lesmok should shoot through clouds and explode at max-range (distract the enemy). Lochnagar should kill a cloud. Heavy Clip should turn flare into a linear beacon which, when it strikes an enemy, relays back the distance (like the range finder). etc. etc.
If this can't happen, just give me colored flares. Aesthetically pleasing, and can have some tactical communication uses. (say, on crazy king, make it look like red team has capped a point with a red flare, when it has not).
Lanliss:
That crazy king trick might be a reason for this to not be done, or if it is they could just not use red and blue. As for the different ammo types, I would rather have painter shots than the range finder thing. A flare that can tag an enemy? Sounds good to me. Or they could just add a teacher type gun that does minimal damage, but allows tagging. This could allow some people to run range finder instead of spy glass.
ShadedExalt:
Coloured Flares in co-op, maybe?
