Ofcourse, there's multi sided dice as well but that is indeed another reasonable method.

If I recall correctly only fair dice that exists are ones that are even numbers. If its not symmetrical it can't be fair. Plus as an old table top player.
And ask any vets of these types of games, there was a technique to rolling.
