I wasn't aware of this, that was what made duel fun. Dat brawlfest super fun times.
Like you can't always be sure where they will spawn- that was cool.

I really hated the old spawns myself.

I haven't played as a captain on duel since the patch yet, but I disliked the old spawns as well.
Instead of reverting the spawn points lets find a new, better set!

Sprayer:
How about each team having spawns on oppoite corners of the map? So red gets to spawn in both northwest and southeast and blue in northeast and southwest?
